You know, as much as I am enjoying extra spawns and the Star Dust that comes with it,
I am not enjoying the tracker.

The problem for me right now is that because there are more than 9 species available at any time, any rare Pokemon I want to triangulate is shoved off the tracker box not because they despawned but because the game's retarded way of listing the Pokemon in the tracker box makes it impossible for me to triangulate it. And the tracker box displays a species if there is at least one of them available so when there are 9+ species of shitmons nearby, I will never be able to find the Pikachu / Grimer / Bulbasaur / whatever no matter how many fucking Spearows and Tauros I catch to clear the box. If the Sightings box ordered the Pokemon in some sane consistent fashion (e.g. fucking proximity) I might not complain as much but as it is, the sorting is fucking random and I bet it's just based on the client's internal timestamps of when the server told it a Pokemon of a certain serial number exists nearby, not when it spawned, not how much time it has left, etc.

The 9-species-only tracker box wasn't an issue before the increased spawns because there were never enough Pokemon to make it an issue.
Now it's an issue.
And it's killing me.

I can't even meme at people to triangulate spawns anymore when scanners are down because I can't honestly say I would be able to triangulate anything right now.
When is Niantic going to increase the number of Pokemon visible on the tracker box?
I have never touched a spoofer or scanner so far and don't intend to now, but goddamn life is miserable as a legitimate player.

The species tracker has the benefit of showing you all the variety in your nearest area, which is handy if you're always looking for mons to add to the dex of increase your candy. That said, I would generally prefer to know which mons are closest to me since that would generate the most accurate results. One solution could be to simply enable both and let the users toggle between them, although any improvement would be better than what we have now.

Don't worry, Anon, by the time you update to 0.47.1 you'll have no tracker box whatsoever: just one pokemon from the nearest 9 pokestops. You won't need to triangulate because there's nothing to triangulate anymore.

Actually, it's not that bad. Scanner user here, and most of the time anything useful shows up on the scanner, it's also available on one of those 9 pokestops. If there are 9 pokes and only 5 pokestops in range, for example, you'll see two or three different pokes at each of the pokestops.

Nobody has done the research to confirm with a scanner that a Snorlax at a pokestop 500m away will show up in preference to a pidgey at that same pokestop, but that seems to be the impression I get from using both the ingame pokestop tracker and a real scanner.

I evolved yet another Water Gun/Hydro Pump Vaporeon. It didn't break 2000 CP. I am still missing a Bubble/Hydro Pump Poliwrath but I have the Water Gun/Hydro Pump moveset on a Wartortle, a Blastoise, two Golduck, two Seadra, three Starmie, nine more Vaporeon, and an Omastar. Two Gyarados have Bite/Hydro Pump, most of the rest have Bite/Dragon Pulse, and one got Bite/Twister.

I still do not have a Chansey.

Yup. It wasn't as extreme as I put it, but my 1k Parasect took down two vapes that were around 1600-1700 without much trouble.

Just a heads up, my Seadra is a Dragon Breath / Blizzard that I powered up specifically for dragon killing as a joke (as I mentioned in >>30029505). Don't expect miracles if your Seadras aren't perfect.

I use Lapras on dragonites, and since the last gym update made leveling up gyms so difficult I don't bother anymore, so low cp vs high cp is no longer important to me for prestige.

But the point we were making was that type advantage does matter.

At the end of the day, shitmons like Alakazam and Gengar still have comparable Attack / Defense stats to Vaporeons but Vaporeons get an extra 1000 CP purely because they have a ton of extra fat for cushioning. So even if a Pokemon has low CP, it doesn't mean they're bad at fighting, they're just more like situational glass cannons instead of being tanky vapes.

Also type advantage, while significantly reduced in effectiveness in PoGo, still matters.
STAB + super effective is still +56% damage per attack, and double advantage is like +95% which is effectively double damage. Throw in a resistance and you have Pokemon taking out defenders with triple their CP (e.g. 500 CP Onix with rock moves can take out a 1500 CP Charizard, my Seadra vs Dragonites, Parasects vs Vapes).

Parasect is a good card up your sleeve to have in a Vape meta not just because of the typing advantage but because there are so fucking many of them so you're never short of Paras to evolve or Paras Candy to use to power up the Parasect(s).

I do wish that there was a way to accurately reflect that in their CP calculation. I have so many good attackers at the moment, but nothing that can actually stay in a gym. No, I have plenty of Horsea candies.

I spent all of last month dumping star dust into space fillers I didn't care about so I could get into some gyms and that wasn't fun, and my attacker lineup is still pretty mediocre. I've actually been hoarding the Seadra since it was a Horsea when I started playing so I decided I was going to work on some of the attackers I've been keeping around like him. Now that I'm done him for a while, I'm working on some lv 20 Water Gun / Hydro Pump watermons, a Bug Bite / Bug Buzz Butterfree, a Pound / Hyper Beam Wigglytuff, and maybe my suboptimal Water Gun / Ice Beam Blastoise but I'm still on the fence on whether I should bother.

That's all I have left for potential attackers so unless I get some good movesets from an evo spree in the next couple weeks, I'm going to have to go back to working on space fillers again like pic related. He was my first ;_;.

I walk to and from work because I have no car, and it's like 4-5km of raw distance, and I have a lot of spawns and a Pokestop in range of my work desk. I am perpetually out of balls from the sheer quantity of shitmon spawns that I'm getting now because of the spawn point shuffle.

I used to make 10k a day minimum including two 5km eggs on average and go up to around 30k if I spend a couple hours outside spinning stops and catching Pokemon while restocking. Now I can probably make 15k-20k just from sitting at my desk at work now.

Despite the allure of double-double exp with lucky eggs, I'm gonna put down my coins on two incubators to hatch the four 10 km eggs I have saved up. 160k exp for each egg spree seems rad, but with 600k exp to my next level and with no particular benefit of reaching it, I'll focus on amassing stardust during this event.

before my last megapokehunt/gymraid I had ~60 (max)revives, ~120 max/hyper potions, ~50 berries, ~10 miscellaneous (eggs+incense+lure etc) and ~100balls ~250great balls ~200 Ultraballs

now I have 5 berries, 0 pokeballs, 60 greats and 200 ultras
already restocked my healing items thanks to leveling up (maybe I can drop the numbers to 30 revives +70 max P and get more balls) but I'm low on shitmonballs and I have 250 empty item slots

any advice?
how do you organize your bag?
what do you carry?

Since you've already restocked on healing items by leveling up you can probably deal with carrying less medicine.
You mentioned your town doesn't have many pokestops so it probably lacks gyms too, I'd say take 15 revives and 35 MPots, a total of 100 items for berries and misc and fill the rest of your bag with balls.
It looks like you have 800 slots so I'd say
50 healing items, 20misc, 80 berries, 250ultra, 300 great and 100 pokeballs
