I think LunaE would be an interesting choice. She's got decent defenses and what's basically Parting Shot and Regenerator.

The same way you build stall in Pokemon: Take 6 walls, never run attack moves outside of Smash Spin (unless you're trying to use them to spread Status), try to cram a magic bounce thing in if possible, probably run OrangeD as a 1-stop Special Attack wall, run entry hazards, that sort of thing. Expect a lot of time refining and changing things since you're doing something that no one else is doing on account of it being a stupid as fuck idea. You'll probably get some wins just on account of people choosing to quit rather than play against your team, but you're really trying to do something the game is designed to not let you do.

But don't do any of that and run bulky offense instead. Please, do it for the waifus.
>>
>>24962789

I want to run Sneaky Steel. Not in the 6v3 battles, but 6v6 stuff. I say this partially because 6v3 meta is extremely harsh for my favorites.

SukunaD only beats Primal Groudon in very limited circumstances and loses period if Groudon runs Swords Dance, enough bulk to survive 2 Shooting Presses, or a special attack. A scarfed Sukuna would be more reliable at killing him but still wouldn't be a safe pick by any means. By Smogon standards she would be a shaky check at best. That still says a lot considering Primal Groudon is the strongest thing in Ubers, but even so it's not remotely a fair comparison.

Primal Kyogre loses to Waggyswaggy because he's weak to Nature while she has double resistance against water, not much else to say about that.

Just for fun though: WakasagiE vs Primal Groudon
(note that EVs are treated in the original game's style: max of 252 for Pokemon with 1 stat point for every 4 EVs, max of 64 for TPDP with 1 stat point for every 1 EV)
Taking the Rock Polish set from Smogon as a basis

(assuming Primal Groudon's Rock Polish set on Smogon)
252+ Atk Primal Groudon Stone Edge vs. 64HP / 0 Def WakasagiE: 205-242 (46.1 - 54.5%) -- 59% chance to 2HKO

64+ SpA WakasagiE Energy Absorb vs. 104 HP / 96 SpD Primal Groudon: 144-171 (39.2 - 46.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

That's with no item on Waggyswaggy though.

64+ SpA Life Orb WakasagiE Energy Absorb vs. 104 HP / 96 SpD Primal Groudon: 187-222 (50.9 - 60.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Well, she can't set up Genbu on Primal Groudon, but she still beats him even through harsh sunlight.
But on the other hand, if it was the MIXED Rock Polish set:
252+ SpA Primal Groudon Fire Blast vs. 64 HP / 0 SpD WakasagiE in Harsh Sunshine: 441-519 (99.3 - 116.8%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO.

If Primal Groudon is running a fire type move, he wins unless Genbu is up (and if it's Fire Blast he wins anyways), otherwise Waggyswaggy wins.

...I honestly did this with all expectation of Primal Groudon just crushing the fish; the fact that he basically loses unless he's running a Fire type move was completely unexpected.

The fishy is terrifying, isn't it.

Fine, you horrible incorrect soulless jerk

Physical Attacker P-Kyogre v SukunaD

252+ ATK Primal Kyogre Waterfall vs 0 / 64 Def SukunaD in Heavy Rain: 284 - 336 (97.5% - 115.4%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

64+ Good Ring SukunaD Shooting Press v 248 HP / 0 Def Primal Kyogre: 327-385 (81.1 - 95.5%)

Even PHYSICAL Kyogre rips SukunaD to pieces, the end.

Those are all present though; status is entirely viable, the expansion is going to make hazards more viable now that spin-blocking will be a thing with Warp types, there will always be mind games, and set-up sweeping is definitely doable (EllyP says hello)
>>
>>24963579

Elly seems like the only thing that's actually popular at the set-up sweep thing. It just seems like almost everything else is based on how fast and hard it hits off the bat.

KanakoD's designated Earth-skill is already Shooting Press; not worth replacing Shooting Press w/ Feast of the Earth since KanakoD's base Fo. Atk stat is about 15 points higher than her base Sp. Atk stat and Shooting Press is more reliable on hitting the opponent.

That's not really how immunity works, so I doubt it.

>>24964135

Depends on whether immunity is the right word for it, could be lost in translation, but you're probably right.

It could potentially be "Negates the effect of priority" which would likely stop protect but I'll just have to assume it doesn't until proven otherwise.

Interesting

MikoE, NueE, and AyaE get it.

MikoE in particular would appreciate it, being a glass cannon and all
>>

>not worth replacing Shooting Press w/ Feast of the Earth since KanakoD's base Fo. Atk stat is about 15 points higher than her base Sp. Atk stat and Shooting Press is more reliable on hitting the opponent.

I don't think it's a terrible idea to make her go special instead of physical, but maybe that's just me. You give up Wind STAB, but that new skill hits harder than Shooting Press when invested and you get Inferno and a choice of a reliable nature move in Mist Fog or a water move in Cold Rain. If you really want, I guess you could still use physical wind STAB. It might be stupid though, I'm just interested partially because her physical moves aren't good outside of STAB moves.

The problem with MikoE is she's not much of a cannon, just really fast and mixed.

If she got a strong boost move it mite b cool though.

Also found a new attack. Anyone know what it does?
>>
>>24964382

That reminds me, I think it's funny that MikoP got a Sp. Atk boost. I doubt it'll help her since her Fo. Atk is so high, but still.
>>
>>24964382
>If she got a strong boost move it mite b cool though.

She does get both Swords dance and nasty plot. Boosting with those defenses might prove difficult though. She also gets that ability that boosts the first move used out the gate by 1.2x.

HijiriE has a very similar spread, but instead of boosting moves she gets 120BP recoil moves out the ass alongside recoil offset and the same ability mentioned above.
>>
>>24964410
It brings her base Sp. Attack to a serviceable 100. It allows her to potentially run one special move for getting around physical walls, and/or Darkness status.

Oddly enough she's the only Miko that didn't get the new move that boosts both attack stats. She got Recover instead.

>>
So, where's the best grinding spot? I've beaten a few post-game fights here and there, but I feel lost.
>>
I like how Raikoanon discussed how SukunaD would maybe stand a chance against Primal Groudon and how WaggyswaggyE would rip Primal Kyogre apart and also Primal Groudon if it wasn't running a fire move, but not the real important thing.

Dragons would be GODS. Only steel to resist them, absolutely nothing to hit them for SE, more optimized stats... Garchomp and the like would just curbstomp everything
>>
I guess for Hecatia to not be a clusterfuck you would need to specialize in each one of her forms
Does this mean that there are a total of 9 Hecatias?
>>
>>24964779

The only dragons that would be truly terrifying are Mega Salamence and broken ass Mega Ray. Everything else would probably be good, but not nearly as horrible to deal with.
>>
>>24964779
Since Ice falls under Water in Puppets, wouldn't Dragon be weak to Puppet's version of Water?

Also Waggyswaggy is a Water type along with Nature, so I don't see why a fire move would be that much of an issue.
>>
>>24964830
How the hell would they be less horrible to deal with without faeries or ANY WEAKNESSES AT ALL to worry about
>>
>>24964848
>>24964779
In fact, would the Fairies gain retroactive immunity to Dragon attacks? If that's the case, Cirno becomes the ultimate dragon killer.
>>
>>24964849

Because puppets have some crazy ass abilities and moves. They're built to be flawed, but still pretty crazy.
>>
>>24964849
Because there's already a type in game that has no weaknesses, and is resisted by nothing.

Fucking insecure pokefags I swear.
>>
>>24964779
Because Hemo would patch them to not be overpowered pretty quickly. Like it used to be that Sound types were resisted by only Wind and Danmaku Orchestra was BP120/100/10 with no drawbacks. Hemo actually patches things for balancing purposes if needed.

My favorite only has one viable form, and it's not Extra. Even Defense isn't great, it's just okay. Not that it'll stop me. Once I get Sagume and a couple others, I'll plan my team and stomp everyone anyways.

A was one of the best Bind Trappers in the entire game and was extremely fast while still hitting fairly hard.

D was a gimmicky Dark-type who was immune to both Fighting and Steel but had way too little health to be viable. She got a huge buff to her HP in the expansion, so hopefully she's better because she's my favorite style.

E doesn't seem good, she's frail, slow, and has 4 common weaknesses even though she gets a nerfed Parental Bond.

Extra Maribel does not trap. She has Tinted Lens with STAB on Void and Illusion, and access to powerful STABs in Spirit Rush and Hallucination. Unlike the other Maribels she has actual stats (480 BST with good distribution) but is still illiterate and cannot use most TMs.

...Nope.

Not dealing with this. Gothitelle was godawful typewise (Psychic), had a generally bad stat distribution (70/55/95/95/110/65), and still ended up getting Shadow Tag banned from every tier below Ubers. And was the reason why Smogon voted Shadow Tag to be banned FROM Ubers (it got saved on a technicality since it would have banned Mega-Gengar, who they had previously voted to not ban from Ubers).

She's not as bulky on the special end, doesn't get recover (so no easy +6 SpA and SpD), and her trapping doesn't work on poison types, but for revenge-killing she's insane.

She might explain why Japan wasn't anywhere near as terrified of WakasagiE as we were; MedicineE kills the fishy.

Another thing to be terrified of
Extra Momiji
Steel/Nature
80/95/130/55/115/20
New ability (Iron Barbs from Pokemon) for ability 1, Sixth Sense for ability 2
Learns the game's equivalents to Stealth Rock, Leech Seed, Gyro Ball, and Power Whip

Yeah, it's Ferrothorn, except with less ridiculous resistances, a third weakness, and a little more HP (Ferrothorn was base 74, she's base 80)

Opinions on this?

On top of those mentioned, YukariP is not-Regigigas, and RaikoA is not-RotomA (except she learns Decresendo)

Also of note: PWriggle had her second ability change from Vanishing Act to Telescopic. She learns Bewitching Pollen (i.e. 60% accuracy Stop), which under Telescopic becomes an actually usable 80% accuracy.

80% accuracy Stop (comparison: Pokemon's Dark Void, normally only learned by Darkrai) On something that learns Mad Rush Stance.

WriggleP is now terrifying.
>>
>>24968216
Eh, Steel isn't a very good defensive type in this game, so I'm not too worried. And she still has the x4 fire weakness.

Actually, speaking of which. Fire is a better defensive type than Steel, but Steel is a better offensive type than Fire. This really bothers me.

Alright people, let's talk poison. The type was largely ignored in TPDP outside of EirinA, but with the new warp type shaking things up it's going to finally enjoy some relevancy.

Let's look at some of the more popular threats:

>EirinA [poison/water]
- a proven threat. All around solid bulky attacker with good sustain.

>MedicineE [poison/warp] (current #11 in usage)
- >>24967823 >>24967882 >>24968005

>HinaE [poison/fire] (current #2)
- highly optimized stat spread with great special bulk and highly potent FoAtt
- poison/fire typing... with levitate
- the recent removal of Voice of Famine hurts her coverage. We'll see how it plays out.

>SagumeD [poison/electric](#12)
- one weakness: earth. Granted it is x4
- 75/135/135 bulk
- electric-type spread drain punch
- wisdom eye and perhaps a good mystery ability??
- pain split

>SagumeP [poison/sound] (#15)
- 130 SpAtt. 110 Speed
- calm mind
- pain split
- warp puppet's worst nightmare
- abilities are probably good??

And that's all I feel like going over in detail. Think some are overrated? Underrated? Think poison is actually not going to be all that relevant? Hell, if you want to discuss the new type dynamics between Warp, Steel, Wind, Poison, etc.

Now watch 4chan completely fuck up this formatting.

>>24970109

Poison is undoubtedly going to be a lot more useful now thanks to warp's existence but it's likely going to have inflated numbers for the first couple weeks due to people running it to counter everyone trying out all the new warp styles / puppets.

Hard to say for sure how all those puppets are gonna be in the long run when parts of their moveset are still unreadable for me and we don't know how popular wind and warp are going to be, which will dramatically influence their usability.

Here's the complete poison list. Separated via new/old:

Defense Sagume
Power Sagume
Extra Eirin
Extra Medicine
Extra Remilia
Extra Hina
Extra Elis
Extra Kagerou
Extra Kotohime
Extra Kurumi
Extra Mystia
Extra Rin
Extra Ruukoto
Extra Seiga
Extra Suwako
Extra Tewi
Extra Yamame

Assist Eirin
Assist Hina
Assist Kurumi
Assist Maga
Assist Wriggle
Assist Yamame
Defense Hina
Defense Lunasa
Defense Medicine
Defense Nazrin
Defense Nue
Defense Seija
Defense Yoshika
Power Eirin
Power Elis
Power Magan
Power Medicine
Power Seiga
Power Udonge
Power Yamame
Power Yoshika
Speed Seija

Personally I think EirinE looks interesting.
>Poison/Light is a pretty dynamic typing with 4 weaknesses and 9 resists.
>100/60/100/95/100/105 is an interesting spread. 105 speed in particular is nice.
>gets calm mind and surprisingly decent coverage.
>Unfortunately she lacks a reliable recovery outside of giga drain.
She's likely too middling to hit the top. But she looks curious.

People have mentioned that there's a glut of newhu usage because they're, well, new. Unless there are Warp types that sit at the top there will probably be less poison usage too.

That said HinaE is just obnoxious as hell to deal with because 4x weakness immunity and she dicks over Nature even harder than Warp.
>>
>>24970564

I'm talking Extra in particular. 120 speed is good, but in-game it felt a lot worse than expected. It feels like the average speed is a lot higher than in Pokemon. At least her STAB moves are strong and she can't be stopped by priority.
>>
>>24970109
Poison's core issues (weak to Earthquake, 0x against steel, weak to Wind) still are in place, I honestly feel none of them are going to hold up outside of Sagume's forms for fucking over setup sweepers (her P one has an abilty that's basically an upgraded Wisdom Eye; it REVERSES the opponent's stat boosts/losses while she's out like a permanent Phase Inversion)

Also HinaE has base 65 defense. And is Poison/Fire type. And is as slow as Snorlax (base 30 speed). How the hell something with a giant sign around her reading "EARTHQUAKE ME TO DEATH" is #2 in the usage charts is beyond me.

She's still hitting water back for SE damage, leaving Wind as her only real counter.

>>
>>24970673

Honestly, this.

I feel like people are trying to view the meta as a perpetually stable/stagnant thing like what tends to happen in Smogon metagames, but I feel like the reality is that there are so many viable things now that you're going to see a perpetually shifting metagame as things rise and fall in popularity with a core of perpetually stellar things holding up at all times (AyaP for example)

>>24970745
Yup, she lost it; actually didn't realize this until now. That's a huge nerf since one of her best traits was being able to get the hell out of there if something she couldn't handle showed up while still doing damage.

It also means she has no way to really do anything to HecatiaE since HecatiaE is immune to both of her STABs and neutral to what coverage moves she still has, so she's left tossing around neutral Spirit Stone Jigs against her while she can safely take it, change form, and blow her off the face of the earth.

...Oh my god Hemo, you made your waifu the ultimate AyaP counter in addition to being stellar to begin with so that everyone would use her. I see your plans.

I'm trying to make Mokou decent here.

MokouP is still kinda shit. She does get sucker punch now, but outside of that she remains unremarkable.

MokouS looks more promising now. For one the UtsuhoS speed nerf makes it so she isn't completely outclassed by her.
She got a lot of utility for some reason. Acid Armor. Amnesia. Wish. Aurora. That fuck-you-no-healing terrain. She already had fire-type toxic.
She also got coverage boosts. +Illusion, +nature. This is in addition to fire, fighting, ground, and light (lol)

Overall she gives me a jack-of-all-trades vibe. Looks viable but not cream of the crop.

MokouE is essentially bulkier version of S (120/60/60 -> 130/85/85) with less speed and power (130/100 -> 110/70). Granted she does have that 20% life orb ability.
She has some utility in disable and wish. She's mostly geared towards blowing shit up though.
She gets SpAtt dragon dance, eruption, hurricane, misc coverage, explosion...

Eh, she looks ok. Unless I missed something I think "ok" sums up Mokou pretty well. Shame she's not channeling her puppetplay variants here.

>>

That's a nerf, she already had a good focus fight move that she never used because she instead ran a spread fight move to counter SukunaD and other physical walls which she now lost.
>>

That's likely a nerf in the long run. She used the special variant to get past some physical walls. Now she's more one-dimensional.

Going to correct you on the middle point: she does get a new special fighting move from a skill card: Brave Burst. BP90 and 100% accuracy (i.e. Aura Sphere minus the guaranteed to hit part). So nowhere near as strong as her old options but STAB + BP90 is still enough to make things with stellar defense but bad special defense (like SukunaD) cry.

To answer your question, it's because Aya was too good.
Like AyaP was perpetual top 5 usage and post-expansion is the highest used old puppet at 9th place even POST-nerfs. RaikoP is barely above 2% usage as it stands in the expansion even with her new tools, although that might change as the meta smooths out over time.

Also she has a cuter attack animation.

All the new abilities. May not be entirely accurate, but here they are. Before you ask, Serious is on YukariP after you stall out her initial ability for the full 5 turns.

Also, whoever gets Affinity Twist is going to make my head hurt when fighting it.

http://pastebin.com/Tsg4ZSYy

All the changes to old movesets

Do note there are two separate "Lost:" entries and it's possible for a puppet to lose a move from the levelup moves but keep it as a skill card move: RaikoA lost Lightning Speed from her level-up pool but still has it as a skill card move, for example

Lost: Rush Attack
Lost: Gigantic, Changeling

Yeah. Like one of RaikoP's issues (as well as RaikoA's) is that literally EVERYTHING SHE LEARNS is walled by Light. Her type coverage outside of Sound and Electric is Light (Star Flare), Nether (Ghost Wave), and Void. So basically not worth it since even a neutral Emperor's Indignity or Ultra-High Tone would outdamage a SE Light Arrow

Like, at least with Ghost Wave there's the 30% chance to Fear. When NETHER is better for you than Light, that's just sad.
>>
>>24971682

I'm looking at it for KanakoE. She gets Wind and Fighting, nice STAB combo but gets walled by certain things. Thing is, Light Javelin only helps against 7 or so puppets. And it's a 75 BP move coming off of 100 attack, is it really gonna make a difference when Root Frog only has 30 less BP without counting a SE hit? This no movepool thing is really biting me in the ass. I'm even considering stuff like Corkscrew or Meteor Impact.
>>
So how is KotohimeE?
>>
>>24971682
*SE Star Flare.

Also, in WriggleP news, god she just got loved.

Because the base stat changes weren't enough (-15 SpATk, +5 HP, ATK, and Speed), because getting Telescopic as an ability to give him 80% accuracy Stop and 100% accuracy BP120 STABs wasn't enough, she also got Sneaking (i.e. Sucker Punch).

Like, keep an eye out for WriggleP now. He's legit scary.

As far as I'm aware, the only reason you should use a Light move is if your puppet gets STAB off it.

Obscure game mechanics not mentioned literally anywhere math time:

In Pokemon, Water Spout (most well known for letting Kyogre hit like a nuclear missile) and Eruption (the one that lets Primal Groudon hit like a nuclear missile) start at BP150 and have their power reduced by 100-X%, X being how much of your max HP you have remaining. So if you're at half HP it's BP75, if you're at 80% it's BP135, etc. So in gen 6, it becomes weaker than the BP110 Hydro Pump/Fire Blast once your HP drops to 73% of maximum (although the higher accuracy means you're still winning out overall for a bit past that) and drops below the BP90 Surf/Flamethrower once you drop below 60% max HP. So while it obviously gets weaker than the other moves if you've taken a decent chunk of damage, it'll still be beating the other options out until you've dropped below 75% of your max HP.

That's in Pokemon. The puppet equivalents, Water Cannon and Fire Bird Dance, work the same way. With a single critical and crucial difference/nerf. Seriously, this is important if you're running these moves.

If your HP is not at full, the BP of the move DROPS to 100 BEFORE the further reduction from not being at full HP. This means that if you take even just ONE point of damage, Water Cannon's power will drop from 150 to 99, and below 75% max HP it starts to become a complete waste of a move slot. Whereas below 60% was when Water Spout and Eruption became worse than their BP 90 counterparts, below 60% is where Water Cannon and Fire Bird Dance become such wastes of time that even the equivalent SIGN skill would be stronger.

Basically if you take damage, Water Cannon and Fire Bird Dance become bad moves. They're only good if your HP stat is completely untouched.

Pic unrelated, I just wanted to post Raiko in hype of RaikoE.

Why the fuck is that the case
>>
>>24971540
So Akyuu is Arceus?
>>
>>24971978

Kosuzu, not Akyuu. She's more like a shitty Arceus, but having the actual thing would be ridiculous. I wonder which books give her what stats though. Do they double the base stat or the total stat? I'm expecting the second but I'm still curious.

PMokou could sub-punch now i guess ⋛⋋( ‘◇’)⋌⋚
>>
>>24972128
Like does that matter at all? Subpunching stopped being relevant past Gen 4, maybe Gen 5 at the latest
>>
>>24972138

Maybe we just need a Breloom. Even if Breloom pretty much never uses Sub Punch now.
>>
>>24972138
Wasn't subpunching one of the big things that got M-Mawile sent to Ubers, though?
>>
>>24972151
55 base speed on pmokou means she does get a free turn after using sub. not a bad guess when a switch is in play, either- not like skanda is of any use on her.

I guess you wouldn't bother with focus punch since reckless effects purgatory flicker and presumably effects transcend form, though.
>>
>>24972165
What is Skanda worth using on then

So how good is AyaP post expansion? Losing access to high-power special fighting moves and Changeling sucks, but the reason why people use her (i.e. Salvo + moves to go with it + base 130 speed) is still in place, and she doesn't have to run Transcend Form for a high power physical fighting move anymore.

How much stuff did Hemo put in to fuck her over?
>>

>>24972195
He made HecatiaE (aka the thing sitting at #1 in the usage charts and best described as Aegislash + Deoxys with a splash of Wormadam in the forms being different types) is in her default form immune to both of AyaP's STABs, and she has more than good enough bulk to not care about a desperately tossed neutral Spirit Stone Jig before the form switch lets her rip AyaP to pieces..

Hemo made HecatiaE, the Extra form of his waifu that he made really really good because of waifu bias, completely immune to both of AyaP's STABS, and took away the one move she had (Changeling) that could hit her for SE.

This is the tip of the iceberg.

Some puppets have an ability that prevents the usage of any move with BP 50 or less against them. This is generally not significant outside of stopping Smash Spin, but it shuts down basically all of AyaP's good moves.

Remember how people used Small Bit (i.e. Rocky Helmet on moves that were BP 70 or less) on random puppets to completely screw AyaP over? There's now a version that works on all BU moves (aka all of AyaP's multihit moves) (so basically just Rocky Helmet). Now 2 puppets on your can make Aya nearly kill herself without having to attack her. Slap it on EMomiji with her Iron Barbs equivalent ability and AyaP will kill herself before she even gets the fifth hit in!

There's an ability found on RenkoE and EikiE that makes it so when they switch in they completely remove the opponent's ability. Using that on AyaP will declaw her of a huge chunk of her damage output.

This one hasn't been confirmed yet, but there is a new ability (Ascertainment) that's basically reverse mold breaker. Whether or not it negates Salvo is currently unknown, but if it does, that's another thing designed to make AyaP suck.

And this is just the objective "fuck you AyaP", that's not even getting into subjective stuff like how there appears to be a general trend towards higher bulk on puppets in general.

What the fuck did AyaP do to deserve this

Not be absolutely adorable, like pic related.

Hemo likes Sukuna, as shown how despite being even higher in the usage charts at times than AyaP she still got 0 nerfs outside of Warp type now being a thing. Most of which won't like a STAB Shooting Press to the face anyways.

That's disappointing. I was eyeing SuikaE as a fun gimmick seeing how she gets both eruption and water spout. This changes makes that pretty shit though. I wonder if this was intentional or if folens just fucked up the math.

>>24970879
MokouE kinda confuses me. Great bulk, but her ability is more meant for a sweeper. Maybe her niche should be on an anti-stall team running Suzaku or some shit.
