Charizard X didn't have a scratch on it after crashing into a mountain after meteor mash but it's crazy to think it wasn't damaged. Metagross didn't have a scratch on it after Blast Burn but when Blast Burn was happening it was shown having a reaction too. They just didn't show battle damage. Even Steel Wing was enough to damage Primal Groudon.

XY Ash is mostly based off of Red than Calem. The only similarity to Calem is that he wear blue, but everything else is Red if you look at his shoes, pants, hat, short sleeve shirt instead of sweater, poses in promo art, etc.

Then again Ash's OS out was also based off Gen 1 Red, but the biggest difference is that Ash wore blue. Ash has always been a "blue Red." XY Ash is to OS Ash as FRGL Red is to RBY Red. It's kinda like an updated design.

It's a weird situation. On one hand, her words and personality make it seem like she was teasing. On the other, she did try to finish him off with crunch which was Houndoom's strongest move. Houndoom was still trying to crunch him despite blast burn happening too so it's not like it was playing around.

Maybe she didn't fight as smartly as she could by keeping her distance because Charizard's strongest moves are more effective up close but in that moment, she seemed intent on taking down Charizard like she's gotten tired of her toy. Blast burn just exceeded her expectation which made her exclaim that she can't believe its power.

I honestly don't think Mega's will be used in the league until we hit the semi-finals. I feel that they'll keep them in reserve so that it's slightly unexpected. Having a lot of no-names who'll end up fodder using Mega's just doesn't sit right with me.

Have you forgotten that this anime is primarily aimed at a young audience? Keeping the same MC means from the audience's perspective, they can easily associate that MC with the franchise as a whole because it's the same MC throughout.
