I think I got the episode down. Elle will not interrupt the dancing with her dance with Pierre, instead it will be the first thing shown in the ball thing. As shown in the preview everybody is watching amazed at her dancing near the tables. Pierre will then most likely announce that it will be a ballroom kind of thing, and either here or later, will say that the partners they brought with them will switch constantly during the dance and once the dance ends they are stuck with them as partners for the double battle.

Naturally, Serena and Millefeui try to ask Ash out but Millefeui wins out first while Serena is forced to contend with Clemont. Bonnie stays at the tables to watch. Eventually, they end up switching enough that Serena ends up with Ash, while Millefeui gets with whathisface/James.

Now, we all know that Serena is going to get a Sylveon here, but what incentive will the partners get when their team wins?

I feel like this is the scenario considering it's Omode and using the date episode as kind of my way of thought.

I know it happens in the Lucario movie during the ballroom part of it, and also been too a couple dances that did the same with following that style. Ash gets Blast Burned but not really!

The surprising part is Ash actually having no problems dancing, able to keep time, and change partners in sync with the rest of the ballroom dancers.

I can't believe you guys are getting fooled that easily. It's an obvious shounen device: they have the rival winning momentarily in order to create more tension and rivalry... and more fans pulling their hair over the outrage. If the scenarists had Satoshi dancing with Serena, they would write themselves in a corner because it would make the relationship more intimate and all subsequent competition would immediately suffer. Having Serena dance with Citron, they give Citron more importance and they have the rival suddenly dancing with the love interest, sparking fear and anger. Serena/Satoshi is still as relevant as ever, they just can't keep the teasing up because the plot has started and they need to keep the focus on the fights/Tripokalon.
