Rules:
1. 4 buffs, 2 max for any given stat
2. Up to 2 diffferent partner pokemon. They do not need to be the same type as your totem.
3. Your totem is EV trained. Your partners are not.
Example

Just copy and paste one of the patched code.bins into SD:/luma/code_sections
Hold select when booting Luma to open up the config menu, turn on "Enable region/language emu. and ext. .code" and press start
>HBL (New 3DS only, otherwise use Luma)
Extract the patched code.bins and rename them to 00175E00.code for Moon and 00164800.code for Sun.
Place it in SD:/hans/
Start up the homebrew menu and open HANS, open Pokemon through it.
Finally, use the in-game QR scanner and you're golden.

This is what I've done and it worked out pretty well. I also restricted myself from healing items in battle; I'd rationalise it as when an enemy trainer uses a potion or full restore or whatever, it was just their pokemon pulling through in a tough spot the same way mine sometimes would.
