I could tolerate most of these things, but having the option to pick from guns AND swords to attack with in battle was one of the things that first made me interested in the series in the first place, so fuck labels, I'll do what I want.
The Zio thing is especially silly since they practically teach you to do that with the Thor fight. Or at least, I think that's the intention behind it. I don't think you can beat it without status effect abuse, insane luck, or gross overleveling.
If you beat Lilith, she'll drop the jar for you to pick up. That should happen on all the routes.
>Weak to Zio
That's probably the silliest thing of all about it. At least the haven't got to the point where magic is completely overshadowed by crits and physical damage like in most SMT games since Nocturne, even Persona Q suffers from this problem due to the boost system and how ridiculous SP costs are rendering attack magic useless against bosses with no weaknesses. I actually almost want element based ailments BACK because of this. ALMOST.
Strange Journey or IV. Both are accessible, mainline games and easy enough to get your hands on. Don't start with Persona; the OP guide recommends P4 as a starter game, and it's lying to you. Persona is fun
and I love P3 to death, but it's not SMT proper and it'll leave you with a bad expectation as to what the SMT franchise as a whole is about.
We're allowed to talk about the games, y'know.
If you don't mind older games, start from the beginning with SMT I, then SMT II, then Nocturne, etc.
If you think starting with slightly out-date SNES games would be a turnoff for you then I'd start with Nocturne and see what you wanna do from there
I played it for the EO really, the only Personas I could get myself to play from start to finish are the story modes in those silly fighting games, which game me all the background info I needed to enjoy the characters.
Nocturne on hard was the first one I actually beat, some people recommended Persona 3 but between the Social Links and fatigue system that could potentially turn off a lot of people. SMTI is pretty easy but if you don't know what you're doing it's incredibly easy to get lost both in the maps themselves and with figuring out what you need to do next and where. Strange Journey and IV are also pretty good choices I suppose, though those play a lot different from earlier titles.
Nocturne's good, too, but SJ and IV are somewhat easier to get your hands on.
not looking at getting my credit card numbers stolen right now
Well fuck, I wasn't even aware the inventory space is limited. I wonder how much cool shit I was unable to get because of that.
You sure the demons you're trying to recruit aren't Dark or Light?
If they're not Dark/Light, then did you let the scientist name the characters for you? That gives you Law points.
Who would your OC donut steele plot-relevant atma avatar/persona/inner self be?
And what would they look like?
Fuck, I missed the discussion last thread.
Yes, SMT I isn't hard but at least you die if you get killed.
You're all fucking casuals for discussing the difficulty of those games at all, you guys should play true SMT games like Debisama where a lot of demons love to use Mudo or Shuff/Agi and I'm too stupid to find shit that would help against those attacks.
Also considering how many people didn't even play IV on hard with a fresh start, I'm wondering if the majority of anons in the discussion last thread did play I on hard.
Also status ailments, which all except for, I believe, two are automatically cured after battle, are shit and do shit in IV while in I they can get pretty annoying.
Also whispering and fusion break IV pretty much from the start add to that -karn spells and you'll breeze through the game.
Yes, I isn't that hard but in comparison to the casual shit that is IV it's the Dark Souls of Persona.
It took you this many posts over the course of the end of the previous thread and the beginning of this one, to work your way up to that fucking shitty joke?
I would be impressed if it weren't pathetic.
jokes aside IV does hold your hand a lot
shit, in I you can't even CAST spells with the protagonist, but IV lets you adopt the majority of them from demons to use at your leisure.
and stuff like paying Charon instead of dying and being able to ambush enemies for days. it's pretty hard but it's accessibly hard.
Fuck, I'm sorry, you can in the PSX version. I'd suggest all of you to play it, understanding shit shouldn't be a problem since you know the translation already and katakana isn't hard to learn. It looks like the SNES version is crap.
So trying to discuss the games in the general made for them is pathetic? Thanks for informing me, friend. Shall we go back to shitposting now?
>So trying to discuss the games in the general made for them is pathetic?
I don't recall saying that, but you DID go on an awfully long spiel in order to justify slipping a shitty piece of bait into it. THAT is pathetic.
>shit, in I you can't even CAST spells with the protagonist
And instead get another human party member to cast support shit so your hands are free to wreck everything with your sword. And 4 demons instead of 3
Anyone here playing Persona Q?
Found this and was wondering is anyone can attest to Yukiko/Yukari's passive being a 2x mod for their element and the ability to stack with boosts but not amps? Also if any of these mods are wrong please say so since I only changed the one I knew was wrong.

>Orgia 2x (stacks with other buffs)
>Deadly Vanguard 1.3x (overrides Bloody Vanguard)
>Uprising (Stacks with Rebel Spirit)
>Conqueror Title (Better than Warrior Title, Warrior Title overrides this)

>Yukiko/Yukari's Personal Passives 2x (Doesn't stack with amps, but does stack with boosts. Also amps override this)
>tfw cant find a copy
>don't wanna emulate
>no vita yet
Soon. Do Persona games count towards my grand total MegaTen gaming or is it ostracized like purse owners ostracize the rest of the MT verse?
How big of a Garm can I get?
So I'm like the only person that goes out of my way not to die on hard or something?
>tfw persona q on hard is actually eo hard
Though you can still get rekt by random bullshit if you slip up. I need to finish grinding myself to 999 all stats over the summer for IV to see if tit's still easy to die from fucking around/up.
>tfw cant find a copy
You know you don't need a Vita to buy games off PSN?
And installing CFW on your PSP is easy, man. That way you also can play the version with original music.
PQ doesn't have shit on EO1 even on Risky.
PSP is kill.
Not EO 1 just EO generally speaking. I was pretty sure it would fade off quick but holy shit I'm leveling slower than in U and taking more damage than I think I should be.
The four elements(Earth, Air, Fire, Ice), the four universal forces(Gravity, Nuclear, Blast, Electric), Light and Dark(Expel, Death), Holy/Unholy(Curse, Miracle), Status effects(Nerve), and then a bunch of physical elements that make no sense.
Obviously a few things could be trimmed, and I didn't really like the pointless weapon damage types, but it's still pretty cool.
it stopped the moment I got in the elevator in the hospital and ran into Lucifer after getting turned into a demon, I guess it was just some effect to show that Tokyo was fucked or something
>Saw that I could get Nocturne off of Amazon
>Checked to see if I was able to play in on my ps3
>Answers I got said that it would work, so I bought it
>Took about a week to ship
>When it got here it wouldn't play on my ps3
>Turns out the backwards compatibility on newer ps3s were cut down too make space for bigger hard drives or some shit
>Nocturne was one of the games cut out
>Was fucking pissed
>A few weeks later Nocturne was released on PSN
>mfw when I finally got to play it
Only the very first model PS3's were backwards comparable with physical PS2 games. And they had overheating problems because of the PS2 chips inside, that's why the feature was removed.
Whoah, hold on. I just realized something. Kagutsuchi says that the great will once granted the world freedom to see if it would evolve to a new level. Yet the story of lucifer and YHVH is that yhvh never intended for them to not be ordered and that lucifer caused this. And on neutral, kagutsuchi also refers to you as "chosen" despit it seeming confusing as to whom that means. He doesn't seem to mean chosen by lucifer, but as the person who meets him in general.
Combined with in 1 when lucifer says that he is a part of god that god threw away, it seems that kagutsuhi must be referring to the great will as literally the wills of every living thing. The part of the "Great will" that granted this freedom may be lucifer after all. They refer to the process and flow of causality as if it was an anthropomorphized entity despite the great will being an abstraction. And of course what yhvh wants all along is to extend his influence to be synonymous with this.
>literally the only sane guy in Nocturne just got killed
Damn, I was really hoping he was going to have a Reason. Also was he meant to be the
reincarnation of Aleph? The guy's death seemed a bit too similar
I wish the translation project for the Raidou Kuzunoha manga wasn't dead, wasn't anything special but I enjoyed it.
>Get the DDS in smtIV
>Don't look at it for a while
>Later on, SMTiv says I have a streetpass after I go through an airport
>"I've been waiting to streetpass you..."
All of these lines are great, but it's a shame that nearly nobody plays the game.
You must know that you're playing worst megaten evar right now.
Understood. So Wendigo went down really easily. I'm assuming I overleveled for that fight. I'm playing while my friend watches, then when I finish this, he's going to play Devil Survivor 2 while I watch. Any recommendations for our next game after DS2? I know they won't be like DS, but I'm willing to try anything I can get my hands on.
>tolerating retarded shit in hopes of getting some
Not everyone's as desperate as you, friend. Must be a pretty sad life you lead.
They'll alienate Japanese women who want to stare at hot twink ass when they play.
They have A LOT of female fans in Japan and they're very perverted.
Male leads are perfect for male fans self-inserting and female fans' perversion.
Im playing devil survivor 1 for the 3ds and i have a few questions.
Is it hard to get the perfect end?
what day do the choices start to matter?
can you get with yuzu and can you form a romance with her?
Also does that gangster kid get with his childhood sexy milf?
do all the relationships happen like jin getting with that older women that said he was hot?
I'm really liking the plot, characters, and story but want to know that if you make the right choices will certain characters get with one another. I'm routing for that red headed gangster kid to get with his his sexy milf childhood friend the most. also want to know if shes playable. I really want to know how to get the best ending too and if its hard.
>Is it hard to get the perfect end?
No perfect end.
>what day do the choices start to matter?
Pretty early, since even the mails you get in the evenings, get you flags for the different routes
>can you get with yuzu and can you form a romance with her?
>Also does that gangster kid get with his childhood sexy milf?
Not really, but you can help him out a bit if you do everything right
>do all the relationships happen like jin getting with that older women that said he was hot?
The only relationship that really happens, that I can think of, is that between Gin and Aya in Gin's route
there is romance and its better then persona so far.
wait you cant end up with yuzu and none of the romances happen? what happens with the gangster kid and his older childhood friend? nothing happens at all even though its more about the characters then anything? its all about romance in the plot too, even haru seems to like the protag.
but its obvious she like the protag, yet nothing happens? what about the glasses kid and the blue haired girl, they dont either? like it just ends after you try to help the ganster kid with the older women? they dont even give you a after story telling you what happens? does it at least hint that some characters will get with others? at the end?
whats the most perfect end then with everyone alive and with characters getting with others or a bigger after story?
Also just how far can you help the gangster with the milf, does she at least like him and can they both survive?
No. If you want to fuck bitches play Persona 3 and date Yukari or something. You're going to let yourself down if you play DeSu for Japanese high school romances.
>Not wanting MC of SMT5 to get together with Lucifer
Fuck off, who doesn't. I want an SMT where you choose your romancing partner and then you have to kill them or see them commit suicide.
this inst smt, also i played smt 4 and ds1 seems to have ten times better plot and more in depth characters. i mean it also pairs up characters in your face so how can you say there is no romance. in the fucking profile it tells you who likes who.
persona romance goes nowhere though, ds 1 has more in depth characters and you talk to them more. this game should have a romance system would be better then persona. or at least make the story have more romance in the plot if your gonna shove it in your face.
You sound legitimately autistic. Who fucking cares about shitty romance with Yuzu.
It's there for nothing but humor most of the time, thankfully. Multuple girls are hinted at wanting your d, and in 2 even a dude is hinted at wanting your d, but there's no "romance". It's just part of the MC looking important.
>Wanting females instead of guys who looks like girls is now a femnazi
Anyways, I'd prefer a grown up male lead if anything. Why is there so few games with a huge adult cast like Lost Odyssey.
Storyline depth? Shitty forced romance where it doesn't belong isn't storyline depth, which is the only thing gender effects. Shallow shit like character customization doesn't effect "storyline depth" either.
I swear i thought this would have romance because it seems to be more about the characters then any smt game. Im really let down it goes nowhere, also i dont see how it doesn't tell you what happens because all the characters seem to like someone or are pair up. the glasses guy and the otaku blue haired girl, the ganster and his milf child hood friend, yuzu and the mc, jin and the other older women you meet, etc, etc. you saying this all goes nowhere, not even a bit? how far can you help gangster kid with the milf? does she not love him? or does she a bit later on? im not gonna lie im a really disappointed this game doesn't go more in depth with these characters because so far its really good at using the characters, more so then persona because you chat more with them. for it not to go anywhere is a shame.
well do the other pairings get anywhere like the actual ones? like ganster/milf and both glasses pairs? also you sound really boring not to want these characters to go anywhere. I thought smt was a fucking bore, there was no character interaction at all and it was all shounen level shit and at the bare minimum , by the time i finished i felt nothing for the characters or cared.
I meant the depth of playing through a game with either gender. Plus people and characters would react differently depending on what you choose.
Romances aren't even needed; a female protagonist would still be great.
I don't care about pretty men, I care about it focusing on them, especially young 14 year old males who look like women. Sure you can have your pretty males, but why is the storyline focusing on them? Is the entire JRPG market dictated by women who want to shlick to young guys?
>if you want a female protagonist option for more depth then you're shipper scum
It sounds like you're just misogynistic and don't want a female protagonist because it would interfere with your masculine identity.
>Shitty forced romance where it doesn't belong isn't storyline depth
um its all over the game though, 80% of the game is pairings and males and women talking about who they like or how they might like one other character. for it not to go the extra mile and show us where it goes seem boring. im still gonna play it but im not as happy with it as i thought i would be. thought the romance was actually in the plot unlike shitty persona. really would like to know how far the gangsta gets with the milf and their relationship with one another before i get to it and get disappointed before it sounds interesting for such a couple to be in a anime game.
Somebody says Romance in a SMT would be neat and you take it as shipperfucking.
Do you even know what the term shipping means shitlord? It means something that doesn't exist at all and people are drawing connections, what I'm asking is if SMT would ever take the route and explicit have relationships. Because they sure as shit hint at them in multiple places.
>Muh shipperfag card because I don't feel like having a conversation
Just fuck off if you don't want to talk about SMT.
No not really. At the end of the day having a female protagonist OPTION would allow for greater depth than just having a male or female protagonist. If such a feature was added it'd only be an improvement unless you were afraid of playing as a girl or something.
How am i a shipper fuck if the fucking game shoves it in my face, its in the plot and story. it says right on the profile for the gangster kid that hes in love with his older childhood friend. im only on day 4 and didnt know how this game would go but as far i i knew from all the romance bits i thought there would be some romance sooner or later, but i guess its just another shitty game that goes nowhere.
If there's multiple girls hinted at wanting you they're not going to choose a canon one for a game like this, especially when it doesn't effect anything or add anything productive to the story.
The point of the game is immersing yourself, you can choose in your mind who you want. They're not going to force a canon romance with the MC.
Yeah, seriously. An option would make replaying the game more enjoyable and wouldn't step on any toes or anything. There's pretty much no reason not to include it.
You know what else isn't necessary? Alignments. Yet their addition makes the games richer. The same goes for choosing your gender.
I don't understand why you're so against the option. You'd still be able to choose male like always. It wouldn't be mandatory. It's kind of sad that you're arguing AGAINST having more options in the SMT games. It's people like you who are killing the franchise.
I dont know about the retarded gender thing but romance with characters is needed if you fucking shove it in your face but do nothing with it like in ds 1 and 2. the normal smt games like 4 barley has a plot let alone characters that are deep enough to have romance in. actually its so shallow that you didnt even care about anything. smt 4 could at least had the characters talk to each other a bit more.
well of course they'd both be silent protagonists so nothing really overt would change but how characters react to you would change a lot. So like, Isabeau would confide in you since you're a fellow female samurai, and so on.
If female Flynn is just like male Flynn, then what's the point. I'm starting to think this is all about people feeling gay looking at pretty boys and frustrated over fap material, and are using good intentions as a shield.
Why are you greentexting
fuck the mc (even though yuzu should at least of been a real romance option) but the other characters that seem to be in love but they cant be assed enough to expand on a game like this that is character based? I dont get it. ds and ds2 seem like they could be even better then persona in romance and just plain character depth, its even more character and text based.
Female Flynn wouldn't be like male Flynn. They'd have different dialog options and practically every character would have different lines towards them. It'd make replaying the game a lot more enjoyable.
We give ourselves up to delusions of pride, believing that as long as every other general is worse than us, our general's quality is maintained.
The seed of shame, buried under our arrogance, continues to fester and grow, and it will in time consume us, unless we change.
That is a waste of time, though. Generals can't change. Post quality, general culture, a lack of 'editions' and romance, it's all an illusion.
Misguided attempts to interpret transmitted light. /smtg/, continue your decay! Accept the inevitable, and grow stronger because of it.
You and I are the same.
No but im not talking about this shit when there is nothing we can o about it. I guess ill just have to be disappointed when the game just ends and it doesn't tell you how the characters wind up at all. would of at least liked to know if the gangster gets with his love interest because its interesting for a young and older female couple in anime and such these days. plus shes hot. oh well. not evn the main character gets with yuzu, thats really boring.
You cant have two fucking genders and have a good story. why the fuck would you want to play as a women in a character based and story based game like persona or any smt game. its either you have one gender or another because the story will be shallow and weak if you dont have a centered main character.
>You cant have two fucking genders and have a good story.
Do people actually think SMT has a good story that it would actually be affected by whether or not the lead is a girl or boy? None of the decisions you make in any SMT rally on the gender of the main character.
Like or dislike my post, it matters not. I hold no misconceptions about what I post. It IS pretentious garbage.
This general will continue to stagnate and rot, and eventually die off. Such is the fate of the weak.
the story might one day be better, at least in persona 5. mainline smt was once just ok but 4s character depth, plot, and interaction was the most shallow shit i ever seen. it makes sense to have one gender in character based and story based games like persona and just actual games with story too begin with.
its really nit even a game, you see a white slash across the screen every now and then. you cant even see your demons in battle and it winds up just having 4 main characters doing the same attacks and doing the same white slashes instead of you actually seeing your demons attack. games like these i feel need good plot, atmosphere, good characters, and romance to even be good or it just gets old.
Hey, I'm also from /m/.
I surprised you're from /m/ considering how much that board loathes shippers like you with a passion. You'd be treated like shit over there just from the way you type.
Are you some autistic SEEDfag?
there is nobody like that in japan, women want men waifus and men what a good character they can relate too. having a women mean no good romance and women in japan only like gay romance. there you go thats why. its not the west.
If you want romance go read a fucking book or something, fuck the atmosphere, fuck the plot and fuck the characters, I don't give a rat's ass about any of it, the only thing that ever propelled me through SMT games were numbers going up, the battle systems and demon fusion.
>I surprised you're from /m/ considering how much that board loathes shippers like you with a passion.
Are you kidding me...
you must not be from /m/, there are muvluv fags, haman kan fags, gundam fags (not seed shit) fucking uc, and the like. there is shipping or actual romance in all of those and we talk about it all the time. mecha in general always had romance as a main plot point, look at votoms with fyana.
