also that's not entirely true, Oxycodone and Tramadol come to mind. After some brief googling, Imidazoline is a real compound but has a different chemical composition in game (and treating eye trauma with it is a very bad idea as it is an additive to improve the quality of detergents and cleaning agents).

Outside of medicines you have ammonia which is accurately portrayed in game, creatine which is not, Diethylamine which would be horrible as fertilizer and not accurately represented but still a real compound, sodium chloride, the two acids, and of course the basic things like glycerol and napalm which aren't chemically accurate but do have real names.

So a few (by my count all of three, sulphuric acid, ammonia and salt) both have real names and represent their real molecular compounds even if their creation in game is fantastical.

But the vast majority are like you said, Star Trek stuff.

I don't know I play CMO and chemist a lot so maybe you could tell me why you're apparently shit?

The first thing you're going to want to do is hassle RnD for trauma kits and burn kits. These can fit inside your medkit. These will heal even 60 or 100 brute/burn damage in a matter of seconds.

The second thing important thing you're going to want to remember is to put your damn cryo beaker in your damn personal cryo chamber for fucks sake. What if there was an overflow and it was needed? Medbay is all about What If..

The third thing you're going to want is to buy a Map for your PDA and watch the crew sensor computer like a hawk for any damage over say, 10. If you're bored, any toxin damage at all. You can forget about <10 burn or brute they will take care of that on their own or show up themselves.

The last thing you can do is get out of medbay and go to hot spots like the bar, cargo, or pay attention and find out where people are congregating that particular round. Is there a rage cage? You better be near it.

So why are you shit? This is pretty general and vague advice.

Not much more to it than that for paramedics. You don't -have- to know surgery, understand advanced treatment or virology. As long as you can treat the four basic damages and aren't giving lethal doses of bicard to someone then you're alright in my book.

I don't see the problem with this. I certainly don't care if someone has their CKEY as something inappropriate, but some people certainly will, and some servers have rules against that exactly. There's nothing wrong with what happened. Guy chose his ckey, admins asked him to use a new ckey, guy decided he wasn't going to play on that server anymore.

He also wasn't banned, it clearly shows that the admin let him finish the round and then he quit playing on that server.

I do this too. If you send in a long admin help, nobody reads it. It's best to send something like this as an initial thing. The admins without fail will jump to you. Then after they see the situation, you send in a slightly more detailed admin help.

However, I do something similar that is ignored by some of the newer admins.

Sometimes. I'd say: "Watch me." knowing that something that would involve a lot of grief was about to go down, but they often times do not.
Then, when it inevitable becomes an issue it's even more painful to deal with in the future because they failed to watch me and see the situation play out themselves.

This of course results in me posting my AHELPS in a pastebin because it goes over the character limit because it has to explain a fifty minute drama succinctly.

TG was pretty shit last I played it. The levels of valid salad were unfathomable (the minute there was a long or wizard half the station immediately bum rushes them).

The thing I hated most about it though was how often the shuttle got fucking called. Lose power, Shuttle call, toxins blew up, shuttle call, subdue bomb blew up a few tiles in the hallway, shuttle call. Quite often I even saw captains call the shuttle at roundstart (they were hoping to be an antag and didn't get it so they call the shuttle to end the round quickly)

For some of them, let's say Velard and Nexis, it's pretty close to the Security experience.

You can say a Security Officer goes around and hopes to "get his valids" by identifying, arresting, and executing the antags.

An admin does this by identifying, PMing, and banning the rule breakers.

The antagonists are objectively defined, but the rule breakers are whoever the admins say they are.

This encourages a sort of witch hunting attitude in some admins. They are eager to ban whoever they can get away with. It's for this reason you see bans for accidents, grey areas, and harmless OOC.

In the end, people are just using their admin position to feel better about themselves in some way. Ego nurturing. To view themselves as level headed and just or hard ass with a heart of gold, it's all in the ego.

As an admin I will sometimes take control of pets, but that's so I can increase the potential fun of the round. Most of the time I behave like the pets usually would, here I was a talking chicken exceptionally.
