You'd just use stock or combat protocol to break overwatch/suppression. Or worst case scenario grenades. And the only time I see multiple enemies go on overwatch rather than shoot is when they're disoriented and have too low of a chance to hit anyway. It's too specific of a situation.

It'd be better if his range were increased so you'd have to dash away from the shot. It would rob that soldier of a turn which would be bad but not devastating. It's kind of what the Warlock does already; you have to use your turn to kill his dumb zombies instead of doing something useful.

Month 4, roughly. My personal research priority is modded weps -> biotech -> captain autopsy -> nanoscale vest -> faceless autopsy -> mag weapons. By then I probably have 2-3 scientists and I can snag mag weapons in month 4 and plated armor in month 5. That sates me for a while, then I try to get psionics/elerium, relevant autopsies, and trend towards beam weapons. Once you have mag weapons, you're good until andromedons start showing up. You have a bit of breathing room.

The enemies are not unique enough to justify them. The only one I liked is the specialist ADVENT or whatever it is that can explode your own grenades. With the addition of new enemy types in WOTC I see no reason why anyone would use it.

Increased enemy count is also completely unbalanced even if you use a ton of mods to try to fix it. Too many corpses, too much experience, timer adjustments are either too much or too little, etc.

The cheating also only applies if you're on non-Legend.

People say to build the resistance ring first, but I still build GTS first since with Lost and Abandoned you can get an almost guaranteed sergeant before the first retaliation mission. Having a squad size of 5 just helps so much. It puts me behind on covert actions, but the extra squaddie is worth it. Hell, I got super lucky on my last run and got two promotion covert ops that let me have squad size 2 before May. Game was much more manageable after that. Afterwards, I build either resistance comms or proving grounds depending on whether or not the continent bonuses are good. By the time it's done, you should be able to see the bonuses of your starting continent and one or two adjacent continents. Infirmary is a trap because weariness means you need a huge roster anyway, which makes fast healing less meaningful. If you're taking so many hits that you NEED it, then just scan at the templar HQ.

Xcom is all about battling with RNG until you manage to break it in your favor and abuse the shit out of it. The first couple of months month are legit the hardest part of the game at any difficulty. Once you get past that and thing go from "random" to "guaranteed", the game becomes easy.

Well, I'm stuck with the reinstall. I can't figure out what's the issue, but it keeps crashing on me when I try to modify the appearance of any of the new units. (Skirmisher, Templar, Reaper) I'll make the changes, then try to exit the customization menu, and the game freezes. I've tried dropping the graphics, which helped one time, then it went back to freezing, I don' thave any mods installed, and I've made no edits to any .ini files.
The only clue I've got is in the log. Every crash happens after this line:

I think you would actually benefit from watching someone who is even a bit competent playing xcom, because this single posts shows that you have absolutely no idea what you are doing. I'll write out some pointers anyway to hopefully give you some direction:

First off, flashbangs disorient enemies. Disoriented enemies can't use abilities, have penalties to aim, and it ends active psionic effects like psi-zombie and mindcontrol (Build and take a flashbang with you).
You get funding at the end of the month, engineers clearing out space gives money, rumors can give money, the black market can give money, mission rewards can give money, contacting new regions increase supply drop income.
Basically, the cash is out there, you just have to go get it.
Also, the Reaper is the best of the hero classes imo, so take this information and try to think about how you might be using her wrong. Concealment is very strong, having perfect intel on enemeis is very strong, having free flanks and explosives on enemies is very good.

Man I really want to help you but all I can really gather from your posts is that when it comes to the question "what am I doing wrong" for you the answer is "literally everything" and I'd need to type up a multi page essay to try and unfuck you. Whatever general tips the best I can.

You sound like you're rushing too much, be more cautious with blue moves and don't let timers rush you too hard, use your reaper to scout out enemy locations, assemble the rest of your squad just out of sight range then trigger the pod, grenade their cover away with a grenadier if possible then finish dangerous stuff off first, once your reaper is leveled up a little they can also finish enemies off reliably due to high aim, inevitable flanking position and 0% chance to be revealed with one of their mid tier abilities.
Sectoids take extra damage from melee attacks so a ranger can just laugh at those cunts early game.
Flashbangs remove the threat psionics pose and you should never leave home without one.
Stop fucking rushing into fog of war, I've already mentioned this but holy shit I can TASTE your blind moves into fog activating two pods at once and getting you killed. Stop fucking doing it.
Full cover is life, half cover is death hunkering down in half cover is fine too but otherwise half cover is a coin flip on if you get shot or not.

Nope, it doesn't change force level. Going on a mission late game means you get to deal with things like Andos, Archons and Elite variants of Advent.

What it does do is lower the amount of enemies on the mission and changes their readiness level, so it's easier to sneak up on them. Doesn't really help when you either can't hit for shit, or just don't have the abilities you need to increase your damage or CC.

I've gotten tired of terror missions after like 100 hours in UFO Defense. They're pretty much mandatory or else you'll go into the negative for the month unless you raided a base, and the slow slog of killing lots of aliens isn't as fun as the slow sweep across a field with barns that may or may not have ayys, as well as the UFO clearing with tight corners and lots of doors.

Anyone know how to fix this? One of my psi-ops has managed to get permanently glitched into one of the slots, it won't let me cancel her out of both and whichever one I remove the other is still stuck there. I've gotten her wounded, shaken, completed the original training she was on when this happened, everything short of just killing her.

The chosen have a 15 tile movement, that means she can move 30 tiles and still slash you, just like how Slash works on your Ranger. Usually, she will move to attack as soon as she can, so if you move a full dash away, she will dash towards you in an effort to catch up. As she's slightly faster then you are, this means she will now be a blue move away. As long as there is good cover for her. I've done this in the 5 times I have encountered her. 3 times, I didn't have scanners. After the retreat, I moved forward and easily flanked her. 2 of the times, I was able to kill her and the final 3rd I was unable and she slashed me, but I was also in a big engagement that I couldn't really break off from. She's pretty easy to cheese once you know how she moves and thinking about where she can hide. She loves corner cover and once even hugged the zone wall just to get it.

Killzone has weird LoS issues. Generally you use it where there isn't a lot of cover for the enemy to just duck behind. You also have to understand how it activates. Overwatch will only go off when something enters it, not leaves. So if you put the tiles on the edge and the leave the tile they were on, they won't get shot. Try to put them all as close to the middle as you can.

The hope is that it would be obnoxious in a firefight. I think it already goes xcom -> ayys -> rulers right? So if your firefights are lasting, you may need to re-position, which for some classes with good action economy (grenadier with salvo, specialists with aid protocol/medical protocol, gunslinger, ect.) would be annoying. But it won't be getting your people killed, at least not directly.

Well that was anticlimactic, for some reason the UI kept showing him as having armour when he did not. My SPARK was not able to target him despite being two tiles away. The Archon decided to summon a gate when I shot him with the Ranger. After that I had my Skirmisher melee him for a double hit with Retribution, but that extra hit unfortunately missed.

It's not that bad and I play on ironman legendary.

Only grab chests that Advent has marked.
Use one unit as a vanguard to take chests that are far away. Best if he has armor, low profile, or run and gun(primarily to hunker). Templar work well since they can attack, and grab distant chests.
Take two specialists/healers and alternate aid protocol on the vanguard. Can also use them to secure kills.
Other three should be snipers, grenadiers, reaper, or skirmisher. If you take a ranger, be careful not to get to close if you can't wipe all the pods. You want your vanguard to be attacked.
Obviously, if chosen or alien ruler are around change your strategy to deal with them.

Without chosen or rulers, I usually get all of the chests.

I don't think I've ever randomly shot at some guy behind full cover across the map and crit him. It doesn't feel rewarding or any kind of difficulty to just say, eh fuck you, dead. XCOM 2 rolls hit and crit at the same time, so if a shot is 10% to hit and 10% to crit it will always crit if it hits.

If I replay the entire mission, yes, it does. I'm in a new area, and this character just back to back crits through hard cover. It's not like I'm sitting in half cover, getting marked and shot. It's like fighting a fucking hunter that always crits and actually shoots.
