Coming back to the game after a very long time, been reading the guides posted in the OP but what do people do for leveling now? I left off at level 50 and just grinding in VH zones doesn't seem to be the best way to go about it.

I'm not sure how long it will be up but if you can max the Campaign boost to 100% by doing Volcano/Coast/Shironia AQ and then use exp boosters while doing spamming Shironia AQ. I made 400k-600k exp every 15-20 minutes and got to 75 really quickly and I did that alone, if you can get a party to spam it with you i'd imagine you'd reach 75 in no time. The only problem is I think the AQ boost is ending soon.

The Campaign AQs are currently the best way. Quickly clear through them a bunch of times on VH to get your modifiers up and then move on to doing them on SH, preferably with a party and at a high Risk (either by paying capsules to increase the Risk or just by having done it often enough).
Once those are gone or if you don't really want anything from those three AQs you can level through Buster Quests. You unlock them by starting the Ep5 story. They are really good exp too, should get at least 1 level per mainmatch all the way until the high 60s and even then it doesn't slow down much.

I was actually gonna suggest Su since it's super easy to level up and not totally gimped like Fo or Te. If you have Fi leveled up, that would be a good subclass for Su also. If you chose to opt out of it, your other option is pretty much Te/Hu or Te/Br.

You will mostly use Brave Stance. It's not really the best option but you dont have much else of a choice. Su/Gu is pretty much dead so that's out. Su/Hu is a no no. Su/Ra is a no no also. If you want, you can play Te/Su and be a buff slave while throwing marons on the side to 'help' on bosses or using Cery (or Popple) against mobs (you also get access to fast PP regen skills which helps a ton). Su might have been nerfed but it's not as affected as others make it seem to be. The only build that got ripped was Su/Gu.

Anyhow, you can level up Su pretty fast. All you need is a level 100 Cery/Popple with max element. You can do VHAQs (with 3 others) and do Popple/Cery semi-afk exit bursts or just do BQs or the new campaign quests using the same pet.

Just be mindful that Su/x is no longer the top but especially when compared to Hero but when compared to all the normal classes, Su can still hold it's own, maybe not against Fi or Gu but it's decent enough to hold a candle against Br.

That's only if you do the full skill from a distance away all the way through to switching to Sword. It's not spamable.
The only time you should use it is when you are approaching a boss as the first move after a disconnect, and even then its usefulness is relatively limited since chances are you can just charge up the sword weapon action in that time instead

Situational tool. It's like trying to use launcher on a boss. It can sorta do the job but you're better off using something else.
Razor edge hits in a line so it sucks at mobbing. In addition, it drains PP fairly fast. Add in that the PA has travel time and a rather small hit box, it's just not something you want to use for mobbing. However, it's great if the boss is downed and you need to dump PP quickly.

Racer Edge is high dps but PP inefficient while sword has dps options that are close in dps but have much better PP efficiency. Sword also has better overall utility while talis' main attraction is that it builds gear quickly. Because of this, people lean towards affixing S-atk over the other two types.
