Belongs on all but the most niche builds, even caster builds should have it just because those 15 levels make such a difference to how you make a build

Even if you want no VIT, it's still 10 useful levels for a small 4% absorb decrease. I'd say you make up the difference in damage with the 5 levels in health alone, and the extra armour you're afforded by it also helps to mitigate that. You can even roll more to help ensure less damage taken

Unless it takes a significant nerf it will be the best ring in the game for min-maxed builds

2-Handing a weapon essentially increases your STR by 1/3 in regards to scaling

Frost weapons received a major buff

Hollow Infusion got nerfed

Heavy/Sharp infusions got buffed and will now outdamage refined on pure builds by a reasonable margin

Seed of a Tree of Giants now runs out after a minute

Bleed and Poison infusions got buffed somewhat, poison having a larger buff than bleed for obvious reasons

Whiffing a parry now increases the damage you take for a few seconds afterwards, leading to unparryable attacks being that much more effective against hornet kings

On a melee build there is little to no reason to hit NG+ and onwards for rings since FaP, Chloranthy, Havel's, Wolf and Steel Protection all got +3 rings added to the second DLC

A lot of weapon nerfs/buffs happened, some very significant, others essentially unchanged, I'm adding a "tier-list" picture to this post since it gives some information regarding nerfs/buffs to certain weapons

Dark/Chaos infusions changed slightly, they now get a little less from INT/FAI and a little more from STR/DEX on certain weapons. Not enough to be a nerf for caster builds, and not enough to make them all that viable for melee builds that don't want to sacrifice health, stamina and carry weight for results they can get with a Human Pine Resin. Very strange scaling change but not worth worrying about

A good few spells and miracles have been added. Lightning Arrow is a new miracle that really increases the viability of pure faith builds, being a fast casting miracle with good damage and a little bit of tracking, as well as (so I've been told) counter damage. Projected Heal allows you to heal allies at range, although the heal potency is fairly low for the FP used (Used to be a lot stronger until a patch nerfed it somewhat due to abuse). Old Moonlight is a spell that allows you to charge up a spellblade for a single swing, can be worked into a lot of powerful combos. Great Soul Dregs finally added a Dark Spell nuke to the game, and although it isn't quite equal in damage to, say, a Crystal Soul Spear, it has good tracking and the projectile is huge, leading to more hits

Poise on weapon swings has been added, so heavy armour is now extremely viable. each weapon has poise breakpoints with the heavier UGSs and Great Hammers needing less poise to swing through opponent attacks than, say, Halberds which are mid tier. Not sure if you can poise through attacks using a short sword, and whatever build could would be rolling so slowly you could slaughter them anyway. Point is, POISE ACTIVATED

Raw Astora Straight Sword now has damage equal to the other straight swords when raw, making the Broadsword the best earlygame SS

Refined is still good on Quality builds and will receive better damage on 40/40 than sharp or heavy with certain exceptions. It's just now possible to get more damage if you focus on STR or DEX. Quality builds are now in exactly the place they always shoudl've been: The build you make to find the weapon classes you like before making builds around them. Good enough damage to be competitive, not enough damage to completely outshine STR and DEX builds

A lot of old glitches/tricks have been patched: You can no longer abuse high crit damage weapons to 1-shot with Sacred Flame, I believe that the previously known versions of tumblebuffing have all been patched out although a new method may have already been found. There were glitches that allowed invaders to enter bossfights that were (Unfortunately) patched out. Spellswapping has been patched as far as I can tell

There are some new little tricks and techs that can be used to throw people off. One I'll throw in for free is using Twister Wall of Light just before throwing a Chaos Bed Vestige: The CBV curves around the effected area from TWoL, which catches out people who like to roll to the left/right depending on which hand has the flame and which has the staff. Lots of spell combos and a few weapons that act as catalysts have spells that can combo with R1s, adding a bit more depth

That's all that springs to mind so far, if I've brought up anything that you'd like mroe detail on I'll try to provide some more detail

As I have mentioned in the thread already, Raw Broadsword is currently the best Raw Straightsword, and I have used it to carry me past Pontiff at +4 on my current run. I'm going to be attempting to kill Aldrich with it so as far as I am concerned it is perfectly strong

Dark Hand is also a very strong weapon early game. And if you can get the Knight and Hunter rings, Raw Dragonslayer Axe will of course be very powerful

Good looking is subjective, and it also depends largely on your vit.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of Alva chest with Cathedral Helm, Gloves and Leggings, but I also like to switch in Steel Soldier Helm and Herald Chest sometimes, since that also looks really nice. I believe all of those combinations are over 27 poise.

Heysel Pick is actually good, though. As is Immolation Tinder. Heysel Pick in particular has R1>Old Moonlight combo and it can out-trade Straight Swords if you have enough armor. Homing Soulmass (not Crystal, too slow) and Farron Dart can fuck with your opponent in ways that other melee weapons just can't. Crystal Soul Spear can be a devastating punish in the right circumstances and just having it can really put pressure on your opponent. And Steady Chant acts as a fast weapon buff as well as buffing your sorcery damage.

It's a really fun weapon and it isn't bad at all.

unlearn your reliance on blocking. It's nice when it works, but it isn't as good as rolling. You already have 25 adp, so you're ahead of the game on that end. You can always just equip another, better blocking shield in another slot when you aren't planning on parrying.
Combined, blocking and parrying are only really useful on maybe 40% of encounters in the game, where rolling/moving out of the way is useful 100% of the time.

plz enlighten me PvP goats of dsg. I've been PvE guy since das1 skipped das2 for BB but want to experience some different aspect of soulsborne. 2. How do you ever manage to backstab someone in das3 PvP especially those STR invaders using UG weapons ? I managed to get behind them through two consecutive R1s but I just can't get the animation. Does weapon swing speed matters?

3. How do you open the fight? Do you use (unparryable?) WA to their face? roll and charged r2? invite enemys' attack and hit 'em back?

Millwood is a high damage weapon that can be abused to disgusting levels with a WA Greatshield (As the Millwood BA version of the Warcry Weaponart allows you to get an unavoidable hit in so long as part of your WA charge hits), something you'd have no trouble using since the ideal build for it has more than enough room for both high Strength, Vigor, Vitality and Endurance

Dragonslayer Axe is a very good weapon at lower/mid level PvP, but is outshone on the build type it's designed for (Faith Buffers) by other weapons such as, again, the Millwood Battle-Axe, especially since Lightning Buffs do less damage to other players compared to Magic, Dark and Fire due to the consistency of pure melee having more END than their INT or FAI, and pure casters having more END than their STR or DEX

Thrall is alright, but I would certainly not take it above mid-tier as a weapon since quickstep is easily countered, and the main reason for its use (getting behind for a backstab) is less useful on it due to having a lower crit multiplier

You've said that 1v1 is all about range, yet immediately afterwards claim that Washing Pole is inferior to the Frayed Blade despite having better range on all of its normal attacks, and not being reliant on a WA that can be avoided with relative ease

Storm Ruler should, in my opinion, be in the top part of low tier

Heysel Pick has the ability to hit certain spells after getting an R1 for very good confirmed damage, something difficult to find on a caster 1v1 due to the ease of dodging spells. Same reason that Demon Scar is so good despite being a shortish curved sword, it allows you to make attack combinations that can do very good damage with ease. Its WA also boosts its melee damage as well as its spell damage, increasing the combo damage as a result. Also deals thrust damage, which means it gets extra counter damage from the leo ring

The lack of the Poise WA is the only thing keeping War Pick out of Top Tier

phantom range is a tricky beast. It's better than it ever has been in ds1/2 but it still exists and is still a problem. Sidestepping isnt a great idea in ds3, just learn roll timings and understand when an opponent should most likely run out of stamina, then counter as appropriate. With phantom range, there are the occasional weapons that can get a 3rd hit in if you try to roll directly backwards so watch out for them (2h greatswords, 2h halberds, 1h straightswords)

backstabbing is very uncommon this time around due to the overall speed of the game, it mostly only happens when dumbasses use weapons with very slow attacks. You're actually most likely to see it possible against those who use greathammers since some of them have long endlag. Parrying is more common this time around, but note that ultra weapons cannot be parried with some exceptions

the real meta is to not initiate, 80% of the time: whoever attacks first loses. But in all honesty, fast running attacks are your friend, preferably thrusting ones. You can usually get in a cheeky spell/firebomb if they buff at the start, which can set the stage for the panic mindgames

Out of all things I have claimed, this I'm 100% sure of. I have spent multiple hours on WP and FB and FB is simply much more versatile. You dont spam the WA r1 for fun, you use it at the same time your opponent is in animation, but you are just barely outside the distance. It's like faster Chaos Bed Vestiges. WP has that WA R1 which is really strong, but you still always are at danger distance. There are very few if none melee weapons that can beat FB on their own, just because you can scum outside the danger zone, but still change it up and go deal high damage close.

It still looks good. Being that way only accents the different shades of gold between the Armor and Gauntlets, helping with the scavenged feel for which I was shooting.
I figure the Sunset Shield will hold the gold theme, but I'm not sure about the main weapon, and I was planning on a quality build. Crescent Axe, maybe, or Twinswords?
Although I still hold that the regular Mirrah Trousers look better, imo.

Just imagine being the guy fighting against Berserker Armor Guts. Half the time, your opponent is flailing their huge sword that's bigger than your UGS around as though it's a dagger, the other half he's jumping around doing infinite Artorias flips being impossible to hit let alone kill.

It may be fun, but you need to consider the person fighting against it as well. Normal Gut's moveset is a bit more reasonable in that regard, since he's basically just an UGS that swings a bit faster with a bit more momentum, with the huge crowd-cleansers being pretty telegraphed.

lightning spear is an incredibly weak spell meant only for sub level 50 characters

any way to unbind kick on kb+m? it gets me killed so fucking often and it never works when I need it to, which is pretty much never. same goes for jump, I'm not sure why they decided having that as a seperate bind was a bad idea.
