I'm pretty sure I want to commit to using Ushi and Herc for the long haul, I really like their style. The question is who to add to the party.
I'm strongly considering Emiya since I still have my free 4-star. He brings the 3 Arts my team could really use as well as an AOE NP and an evade. However it'd be a bad idea to have two Archers, which means I'd need to ditch my Atalanta/Anderson combo, which works really well with both Ushi and Herc.
Also, using my card on Emiya I'd need to give up on Carmilla and just accept having a less-than-stellar Assassin until Jack comes out.
Any thoughts or servant suggestions?

I used to play LLSIF, which had 3% on SSRs outside of events, and occasionally still do a couple rolls on Cinderella Girls which has 10% on SRs and 1.5% on SSRs, again outside of events. Events on both of them boost the actual rate and don't just make them more common in the SSR pool as well, it's a huge difference from FGO's 1% no matter what bullshit.

Was due to something related to a rate-up. The tl;dr was they had three new characters in their gacha, one of which was limited, all three on rate-up, all the equivalent of a 5* in terms of rarity. This was back when GBF allowed you to see what other people had pulled in their draws and before their gacha rates were publicly available. People on 2ch pooled all the data, looked at the numbers and found out the rate-up was pretty much rigged so that the limited's rate-up was significantly lower than the other two characters, meaning people that cygames was knowingly screwing people over. People maxed out their credit cards and emptied their bank accounts to roll this limited, that's how bad it got.
It was a huge scandal that led to them all but being forced to make their rates viewable in-game, they had to make a huge apology on their first anniversary stream and gave away a bunch of free shit, and they implemented a system that basically boils down to "if you do 300 rolls at one time you can pick any one character that's currently available in the gacha and you get it".
Later that same year they would make a character so broken they had to refund every last thing people used to roll her.

Conversely, something like Robin's reads ''Deal significant damage to a Poisoned enemy [Lv.X] <effect increases with Overcharge>' and will gain more ATK from both a higher NP level and from more Overcharge, as long as the enemy is poisoned.

Most of those are talking about dealing extra damage. Siegfried's NP deals damage to regular enemies, then also deals bonus damage to enemies with the Dragon trait. As in, Elizabeth, Kiyohime, the Dragon, wyverns, and anything hit with Georgios's NP.
Other times, it will be a status effect which only affects certain characters. Mata Hari and Stheno have skills and NPs which charm [Male] enemies, which means they don't do anything if the target isn't Male. Note that Mata Hari's skill still lowers DEF even if the target isn't Male, and her NP doesn't have the Male restriction, so she is a bit more useful than Stheno.
If you see a NO EFFECT when trying a skill like that, then it is an invalid target. (e.g. not a [Male] target) If you see MISS instead, then it is a valid target, but the skill failed to hit.

Interesting note: Dan no Ura is one of six techniques/powers under her true Noble Phantasm, which is called Shana-ohs Wandering Tales. The others all do different shit. She also can summon her horse Tayuuguro which is why she's a Rider, though I don't know if it has any powers. I really need to look up that Grand Order Material book, it really seems to flesh out these bare bones GO servants into a more mainline type moon form.
Also interesting, in the mythology the Eight Boat Leap her NP is based on her running away from opposing champion Noritsune Taira, not attacking. Some art depicts Ushi cleaning through several men or even parts of entire ships during his leap, but still one wouldn't expect the story of how Sir Robin bravely ran away to be his ultimate offensive move.
