In all seriousness, I don't think the tec-9, or its full-auto variants MP-9 or KG-9, has been used by any military or law-enforcement groups (then again, Rainbow can use whatever they want). If you want a pistol with the a forward magazine, your choices are a bit limited. There's the Russian PP-91, but after that you're going to be choosing from some quite old weapons, like the Skorpion or some C96 versions with detachable mags. Otherwise, you start getting into traditional SMG form factors.

Valkyrie gets exponentially better the better your team is at communicating. Pro teams are very good at communicating. Thus, she's ridiculously powerful in this context, and there's no reason not to have her.

Smoke is very versatile with his shotgun, pocket SMG and gadget that can be used for indirect damage or as area denial. There's no site on which he is bad.

And Mira provides unmatched area denial and plain utility on most sites, especially when combined with Bandit, Jager and Smoke, who will likely be picked anyway.

They do use him, but only on very specific sites where the Yokai plant denial is noticeably more effective than the alternatives. Most of the time at that level of play, it's better to have another active shooter, rather than some guy playing on his phone who can't do shit because he needs to be alive to deny the plant. Usually he can't even use the Yokai actively, since pro players will murder it with unprecedented efficiency the second it becomes visible.

I think the real question is how many "metas" does a character have to be in for them to be viable and balanced?

If a character has good pick rates in Copper through Gold, and maybe even low Plat - is this fine? Do we ever need to tweak him?

What about a character who is only good at Plat and Diamond? Do we need to rebalance them so this character is more viable at lower level play?

It's not just shitters, it's just average people. If a character only becomes "viable" when you reach the top percentile of skill players, that means this is a character who isn't good and is never picked the rest of the time.

The idea is you want either all the characters picked and viable, and if that is impossible, atleast a similar number of viable characters across all skill levels

Starter Edition is 14.99 on Steam, regular copy is on G2A for ~30ish. My friends have either positive or negative opinions of the game, nothing really in between. Most of the complaints are about how the devs are retarded, and how Ubisoft prioritizes jewery rather than optimization/game dev.

I can understand a new player getting confused with "Server Room", because every map uses the same prop of server racks, but they all have different layouts. Likewise, rooms with the same name across different maps (Bedroom, Lobby, Bathroom, Garage) may share some props but have different doors, windows, and floorplans. There's also only so many ways you can make a staircase bend and still seem sensible, but across different maps they have different colors and textures, and usually have different amounts of cover, such as bare railings vs. bullet-proof walls.

Apparently there is a number of mechanisms in the starter edition that make the grind sound less terrible, like apparently they rotate sales on operators every week at a discount that allows you to buy them for I think 5k renown or something in that area, so the grind isn't too bad - but since none of us bought the Starter Edition none of us can tell you how the fuck that works (there are reports the weekly discounts stopped)

But the starter edition was a better buy back when the Y1 Season Pass existed, because if you bought it and the pass during Skull Rain or Red Crow you had months of bonus renown gains + all the DLC characters unlocked for free, so you would get 4 characters + 6 characters and just grind for the rest if you were short on cash

But even then buying the standard and grinding for DLC op's is a better buy.

When you get the game, either buy the Season Pass, or buy the Y1 Op's outright in their bundle sale package
