The thing is that for the most Japanese game engines even a minor modification of some irrelevant small file results in a massive change of the resulting main data file (like RGSS or .wolf, because hurr muh encryption), which in turn makes the patch almost as large as the whole zipped game. See RJ189279 for example. The core issue is Japanese programming, as usual.
Although small patches are doable with zipped Unity (no encryption here), MV (when not boxed) and new Wolf games (its encryption was rewritten specifically for patching), so hopefully we'll see more patches in the future, assuming that DLsite starts giving a fuck about its customers.

Yes, and the lack of the patch in this particular case is on the dev alone, there are no technical reasons for it. Every legitimate owner will have to redownload 900 MB of the game again, even though all changes are in the scripts only. He could've packed them in a 1-2 MB zip file if he wanted/cared, but he chose not to.

Thing is RPGMtrans does so much more than people realize. It just sucks that it's made by an autist who adds a lot of unnecessary crap to the application itself, but the core is real well done.

RpgMakerVXAce Translator just dumps everything from the game. Everything. Including the commands. The scripts are dumped in full.

RPGMTrans will grab sentences that get repeated from every file and put them in a single place so you don't waste time retranslating them. It'll also scour all the scripts looking for strings so that those can be translated as well. If you end up needing more "Show Messages", it automatically creates them for you, etc. Translators only need to worry about translating.

It'd be nice if someone could hack RPGMtrans to make it stop sucking, but the work habisain did beyond the interface is actually good. Probably something only an autist could do, but good.
