technically the beaglerush maneuver involves putting every soldier in concealment and on overwatch, and allowing an enemy spot one of your soldiers in concealment, triggering a full squad close range overwatch against the enemy.

this tactic was patched early in the development of the game and enemies were able to shoot flanked soldiers when they spotted them from concealment.

In LW it's even worse, enemies get free actions if you activate them during their turn.

How does panicking soldiers work exactly? Whenever one of my soldiers panic, they lose their following turn. I just set fire to 2 exalt guys who panicked, but on their turn they both shot and killed my mec. Is panic different for enemies, or do my soldiers have a chance to snap out and not lose a turn?

Getting flanked or shot through half cover, or even having positive modifiers added to the shot through full cover (such as height advantage or being marked) would still function as normal. But no more "lol 5% critted through full cover while disoriented" outright killing your guys.
Good idea for making the game feel less bullshit?

The idea is to position your guys in such a way that you have high chance shots.
Sitting back and taking 55% shots all day will get you killed very fast. You need to flank, remove cover, and get close. When you find yourself taking 85%-100% shots the majority of the time, you'll know you're doing it right.
At the end of a mission, if your successful shot percentage is 100% without save scumming, you'll know that you've got gud at the tactics part.

People who complain about XCOM being "muh RNG" are just shitters who just repeatedly take 50% shots and wonder why they're not hitting anything.

Why am I getting my asshole torn open in LW2?

I beat the first xcom handily and cruised through the vanilla xcom 2 campaign on veteran, I think I'm not absolutely terrible but I feel so completely outmatched by the aliens very early on in LW2. First mission rarely goes off without a hitch, and the subsequent infiltration missions feel like I need to have a full squad of at least corporals to have a chance

There's only a couple of mods that add faces, i don't know their names of the top of my head, i think mods like the Liara port, the Kerrigan port and the like adds their faces to the game. And there is at least one mod in LoversLab that also adds a couple of faces.

tl;dr: There are no face mods, there are a couple scattered here and there and that's it, adding faces to the game is pretty hard.

As for hair mods, i don't know which one i could call "best" the only one i remember is Destroyer's Hair Pack, and look like 2 more were uploaded a couple of days ago.

Personally I find all of the powered weapons except for the plasma blaster to be awesome.

Shredstorm kills groups and rips apart armor like nobody's business.
Hellfire makes all organic enemies next to helpless and litters the ground with blazing patches that can prevent enemies from closing in plus the panic chance.
Launcher speaks for itself, self-guiding warhead that deals a ton of damage.

Plasma does good damage and pierces armor and obstacles but it's so narrow it's unlikely to hit more than one enemy.

I made it to the Codex fight, lost some people, but all in all not bad. Wasn't in bad shape, put the Codex in the dirt without a lost person. Already skulljacked some people.

Walked into Alien Hunters DLC thinking it would be a softball like the Shen's Gift mission and I lost 3 A-Listers.

Didn't know that the Ruler would also come randomly in THE NEXT MISSION. I thought I'd get some kind of "we are picking up ruler class signatures" mission.

Anyway after that I stayed on commander and just got raked over the fucking coals, I'm talking getting one shotted in hard cover on TUTORIAL MISSION ONE, for the first 3-4 missions and I restarted 3 times until I finally went to Veteran.

In scary dark red armor with black cloaks and carrying new fancy weapons, T4 Advent with smoking hot Advent Plasma weapons. Did you ever ask "why does Advent not get plasma weapons"? Well i did, and i'm going to try and rectify that horrible mistake to the best of my ability, however Advent Plasma isn't just your run of the mill shit beam plasma, they shoot projectiles and it fucks shit up. I've been thinking about this for quite a while and i figured if i just keep thinking about it i would never do anything about it, so even though it was stupid i figured i might as well put more crap into this mod.

These guys come with some other new toys, the least interesting one is that the scouts have a Mk2 version of the smart scanner, it's just going to be a little better than the normal one you'll get from the shittier scouts, the Captains however have a new ammo round, Panic rounds, that's right, now not only do they have high aim, not only do they debuff you by making you more susceptible to getting crit from flanks, but they're also going to make you panic. These T4 guys aren't whimps like their pleb clad in black cousins, these guys are going to be scary. Of course, once you execute them and drag their cold corpses to the Avenger, you will be able to get both of those new things, although i think i will make the panic rounds a bit hard to get.

As for the Plasma Weapons, my idea is that these are a more advanced version of the "beam" plasma, which is why they can actually shoot projectiles of the stuff, unfortunately this mod will not come with an Xcom version of the plasma weapons, although in the far distant future i do plan to make that, but first i will have to make the Advent versions, of every weapon. So that means, more ayy mods in the future. Not quite sure how that will work though, maybe at the end i make an ayy pack mod.

I ran out of space, lastly as previously mentioned, nothing in the you see in the screenshots(now video) is final, all the stats and shit like damage and health values are placeholders that haven't been tweaked at all.

Most of the art assets are final though, one thing that i'm still not completely decided on though is the color of the plasma weapons, later or tomorrow i'll post a couple of different versions and ask you guys which ones you like best, unless i just decide i like one better than the others, in which case i just wont listen to your opinion.

Another thing that i haven't decided is on the name or title or rank or whatever for these guys, since Advent goes from normal to Advanced to Elite, i'm not sure what to call these guys. The two ideas i have are "Temple Scout" or "Royal Scout", Temple sounds cool, and the Elders had the Temple Ship in Xcom EU and EW, and Royal implies that they're really high up there on the ranks, maybe the personal elite force of the Elders.

On that subject, i made the skin of these Advent almost pure white, since Archons are white then i assume that is what the Elders consider to be "beautiful"(das racis), so these guys are really white. Also if they live on a temple maybe they don't get much sunlight.

If the plasma thing has a 3 line radius, it'd be worth using. When do aliens ever line up in such a way? Never.

The flamethrower sucks because cover protects from it, aliens don't panic, it does fuck all damage.

The basic rocket launcher is superior to both because it destroys cover, shreds armor, does damage, has immense range and no shitty targeting line. Just a big fat circle that is guaranteed to hit multiple targets.

Hey there, I was wondering if I could get some help with a mod I'm curious about creating.

I want to mod armors; More specifically, mod everything reloaded has done a lot of the work for me already.

Gameplay wise, Base armor has three slots: 1.) Plating, which confers ablative hitpoints 2.) Underlays, which confer an effect like vests 3.) Rigging, which unlocks a "pocket" on the armor, which adds an slot for a specific item type. For example, Ammunition Rigging adds a slot for an additional ammo type. Demolitionist's Rigging adds an additional slot for a grenade. Utility Rigging adds an additional slot for a Utility item. A holster adds a slot for a side arm.

Now Powered armor like the W.A.R Suit, E.X.O Suit, Spider Armor and Ghost Armor have armor modules in addition to all these, conferring the armor like an effect like a PCS there can be certain types of modules which enhance its functionality, like Walker Servos or a Lengthened Grapnel spool which allows you to Grapnel from farther distances or in the case of heavy armor, a module which gives you an extra charge on your heavy or powered weapons. These variants, however, are prohibitively expensive.

SPARK Chassis basically get all of these with different names, with the exception of HAZMAT since SPARKs have immunities already, (I thought they could get a Reactive underlay which reduces explosive damage), but they have additional modules known as "Packages" in the form Baseline PCS's.

What do you guys think?

I had a retaliation mission in which I couldn't reach the beacon in time to destroy and I was getting swarmed by reinforcements (Just hit the 120 kill mark back then), however thanks to the officer "jammer" abilitiy it spawned two pods at once which put me at ~25 enemies at once and everything on cooldown. By this time the game was lagging so heavy that I couldn't restart the mission (it got stuck in the loading screen).

While trying so solve this I found the unlimited action cheat and used it. I feel so dirty now.

Anyone else can't finish campaigns because at some point in the game missions go from being fun to being a fucking hassle you just don't want to deal with? So much bullshit happening all at once that it burns you out? Are there any good videos on how to do Avatar base raids in LW2 or something? I seriously don't understand how you're supposed to do this shit, its impossible to pull away one or two pods at a time and whittle them down because they are always so clusterfucked together even at 200% infiltration. Anon, I've just realised something - I have the perfect name for your T4 Advent, and looking at the T4 Pathfinders, I have to wonder if you were subconsciously reaching the same conclusion (Its the colour scheme).

The name for them is Chosen. They're the household troops etc of the Chosen, who are said to be leaders. Well, your T4 Advent (even the colour scheme fits, which makes me think that you were subconsciously grasping at the same conclusion) are actually Chosen variants of the Advent troops. So... Chosen Pathfinder, Chosen Trooper, Chosen Shieldbearer, Chosen MEC etc.

If you do decide to go that route (and I think you should, because it is the 'official' name we're aware of for the Elder's most elite troops/personal guard), then I would almost suggest instead that you change their skin from white to a blue-ish grey, to imply the Advent hybrids used for the Chosen's troops are given some of the Chosen genetic material to bolster their "superiority" over their run-of-the-mill hybrid brethren.

Anon, that is GENIUS. I hadn't thought about that, the reason i went with red on their armor is because Officers are red, which to me implies that red means they are higher rank. But yes, i think i will definitively go with Chosen as their prefix.

As for changing their skin to blueish grey, i'll try it and see how it looks. On a side note, i changed the color of their weapons to be predominantly black.

you can use the LW toolbox if it doesnt conflict with your current mod selection
or you could use robojumper's Squad Select, which is very neat, you just need the mod config menu (or go directly to the config file) to change your starting squad size

I agree, change the purple bits on the gun. I'd suggest blue to go with the plasma the weapon fires.

Also, out of curiosity, any particular reason you went with blue in the first place? I'd figured you might stay with green, not only because that's the default plasma color, but also because that combined with the projectiles would make for a nice callback to EU style plasma.

I'm really glad that you liked the idea, I was at work thinking about it when it clicked for me and I knew I had to share it.

Shit looks cash, really looking forward to it. Changing the gun to something darker is definitely an improvement, although I did think that the white looked pretty cool too.

Maybe go for Gold instead of purple? Would seem fittingly ornate, although maybe the red you've gone with is a bit too rusty for it to mesh well, not sure.

Not really. You have to use space laser guns or hope that a stray bullet will somehow manage to penetrate their armor. Rocket launchers and grenades aren't powerful enough to penetrate them either.

Almost every single story mission. On the other hand they make random map events completely trivial, because I don't remember any robbuts on them. So you can pretty much punch natzees and bongs to death without taking any damage at all.

Well there's a couple of reasons why i went with blue for the plasma, some might be dumb.

First i was going to go with red since this is Advent's own version of Plasma, i thought it would be good to keep the color consistent with their red mag weapons, but in my head there's a million different mod ideas floating around, one of those includes more weapon tiers(this is going to be a weapon tier for Xcom too someday), and one of those weapon tiers in my head is better plasma for the ayys too, plasma weapons that actually shoot Elerium/Plasma cartridges and in my head i see that as red(even though that should stay green, maybe Xcom's version is red instead i don't know).

Another reason is simply that i think it makes them stand out, although i am a bit afraid of battles turning into a rainbow shit show if you have plasma advent, ayys and xcom plasma shooting all over the place at the same time.

Another reason is i didn't want to go with green precisely because the ayys already have green plasma, and obviously plasma doesn't have to be green since Xcom's plasma weapons are cyan.

But probably the biggest reason is simply the color theme i have going with these guys, they are red with blue lights, so their plasma is blue.

So in other words, i have a lot of random reasons that barely make any sense.

I like the gold bolts and stuff on the weapon(although maybe it'll look better if it is a bit darker), but i think i'll make the "magazines" a different color, maybe dark blue to match the plasma like that anon said. As for the dark blue/greyish chosen-like skin, i dunno, i don't particularly like it, doesn't look like the Chosen are actually Advent either so i might go back to white, but i'll play around with it a bit.

I know you want these guys to stand out, and I think that's fine. Blue plasma works with their own individual color scheme, but I worry that it breaks what little sense of uniformity there is to the aliens. The vanilla ADVENT units already look like they belong to an entirely different faction than the aliens.

Not telling you what to do though. This is looking fantastic regardless.

Hmm, I quite like it actually, I think I like it better than the luminescent white, which just made them look like they fell out of twilight, but fair enough.

The Gold does actually work really well, but I think making it a bit darker would make it a bit better.

And regarding the colour of the plasma, you worry about it turning battles into a rainbow fest, but I actually have a reason to keep it that way - It allows for immediate threat assessment. Green incoming means that's an alien plasma weapon, so you know to expect one of the ayys, red means Advent troops, and now blue means that you've got Chosen troops after you. It causes an immediate recognition of the kind of incoming fire and the damage/effects you can expect from it.

(Also, Panic Rounds should be called Terror Rounds, sounds slightly more menacing whilst remaining accurate)

Also, yeah, I wasn't meaning to imply that the Hunter/Warlock/Assassin are Advent, I was meaning that the Chosen Advent troops would have some of their genestock sourced from the Chosen Leaders themselves. They'd be hybrids of both Humans, the normal ayy that the Advent Hybrids get their genes from (Sectoid?) and the Chosen aliens themselves.

There's so many variants of ADVENT soldiers you can spawn. There's the machinegunners, grenadiers, captains, scouts, overwatchfags, normal ones, rocketeers. But out of all of them why the fuck do you have to spawn FOUR. FUCKING. STUNS.

There is. They're the best clean up unit in the entire game

When properly specced they offer so much to your team that literally no other unit can. With the alien hunter DLC that has only increased.

No longer do you need to waste 3-4 units firing on seperate low health enemies you can finish them all off, get a FREE ranged attack with the hunter axe, can still fire your shotgun at any enemies remaining without penalty and to top it all off you're invincible for 1 hit if there is even an enemy left alive at this point.
