Well, after an afternoon slogging, I got my 30 vertebra shackles. What a pain in the ass. I spent 2 hours getting ganked to shit at pontiffs, only got 2 or 3 shackles. Switched to Dreg heap and it's been much easier. A couple of shackles were within seconds of spawning. newfags literally murdering themselves.

Dodge sideways, keep whacking at him until you see him do an animation that has hyperarmor. You can stagger him out of his casting attacks, but not the rapier swing.

Then just equip throwing knives in the second phase and toss one at each sage you see, if it doesn't instantly die run up and wail on him while using the surrounding ruins for cover from the other ones.

How much one's playstyle should change in Dark Souls 2? So far I have fought 2 bosses, the stoned butthole face and the little fat bronze guardian in the drowned Londo place, but so far I have not used magic or pyromancy just the initial +1 sword the master of swords gets.

In Dark Souls 1 I was never able to get into experimenting with different weapons.

You really don't need to invest a lot of STR for most of the game if you two-hand.
The early hammers can be wielded with the minimum requirement to 2 hand and still do a tonne of damage, so you can focus on getting your survival stats up early.

This series and most games in general go about shields all wrong. The bigger the shield the more angles it can cover (and the more it restricts your movement and visibility) but that doesn't mean that it somehow reduces the impact. The heavier a shield is the more tiring it is to use. And no defense is impenetrable. So instead of just reducing stability to make turtling less viable FROM could make all medium shields have less than 80% damage reduction, while greatshields could have 95% damage reduction but less stability or drain your stamina passively while you're blocking.

You can find a restock of five in one of the upper floor areas. As I recall you get a total of 15 fragments anyways, and one of those you get after beating Raime.

Yes, and you can do the same for respecs. It doesn't even consume the tongue so as long as you keep one tongue, you can do it indefinitely. But you have to save the appearance to favourites or it won't work. The respec is simpler, just do it and quit on the menu

Just got back to playing Dark Souls again and man I don't like it anymore. Played through Bloodborne and loved it but DS feels so outdated. I'm not trying to start a discussion here which is best so hear me out.

DS feels really slow and I know that's how it's always been. I want to finish playing it but I really don't know what to do. I'm level 42, have no idea where to go or what I did last time. Looking at my stats my main focus has been strength, my equipment was elite knight-set, drake sword and dark knight shield or what it's called. I equipped the hard leather set instead to gain some more movement.

The drake sword is almost broken, do I repair it at the blacksmith? I know where he is, sort of, so I can try to find him. I've been in the sewers, forest and undead burg. Killed the two gargoyles on top of the roof and rang the bell.

I just wanted to vent my frustration since the game is not how I remembered it. Just want to be finished with it so I can continue with DS2.

I'm looking to make my first Dark/Pyro build

I got some advice on names/titles last thread, but not really any in regards to builds

Now, I'd be looking to do a mix of PvP and end game/NG+ co-op, so with that said

Would I be better off going full caster with minimal END and just rely on a Dark Longsword for tight melee situations, such as with:

Or would I be better off lowering my ATT a little, getting a touch more END, getting the stats for multiple melee weapons and going for more of a hybrid, such as with:

Both those dark miracles are a waste of attunement slots in PVP, especially Lifehunt with a Chime. Use healing or support spells if you want miracles.

I'd go with the second build, but drop the Silver Knight Shield that you can't even wield without two hands for a Simple parry shield or Caestus so you can take advantage of both those weapons that are pretty much made for ripostes.

One of the strongest WAs in the game, high counter damage with pokes, a more versatile moveset, and the ability to do dark damage in melee, an attack range currently dominated by STR build that are naturally more resistant to fire damage

Though I can of course see the use of Demon's Scar, I would like to remind you that neither of these builds are necessarily pure pyro or pure dark. And that I intent on switching up my spells/weapons/armour between fights for the sake of play variety, so i would likely be using the very set up you're suggesting at some point
