For completing Lapp's quest. According to the pre-launch patch notes though, presumably you could only revive Argo at the Purging Monument and not at Velka's. But then they probably realized that locking that feature behind an obscure puzzle, a long-ass ladder, two Ringed K***hts and a Judicator Giant was probably not the smartest idea.

After beating TRC I'm thinking about replaying the rest of the series, been a long while since I touched Demon's or Dark 1. What are some fun builds for each game that aren't just quality?

I managed to get ds1 and 3 to work but I can't get Scholar to work yet.

I tried hex editing and windowed 21:9 but its just screen tearing galore.

If someone managed to get it to work, please tell me how you got it to work.

Equips whatever has the highest numbers. Only upgrades whatever the highest AR weapon he has at the time is. Always wears the highest defense armor. Doesn't even know what poise is but uses it constantly. Starts with the starting class with the highest level or highest strength.

If he's not dying to normal enemies, he doesn't do anything other than rush to the boss. If he's dying, he just levels up health and strength until he stops dying. Ends the game fatrolling at 100% equip load, SL155 (or 255 for DS2) with 55 vigor and 74 strength. Goes through the first half of the game not realizing there's a blacksmith. Skips all the optional bosses and areas. Beats bosses by just reaction time fat rolling and roll -R1s and facetanking damage and constantly drinking estus. Ironically by skipping all the optional stuff he ends up beating the game faster than average despite not knowing anything about it.

Doesn't learn what an infusion, miracle, or spell is, doesn't care because he's still killing stuff. Keeps seeking those higher damage numbers no matter what, doesn't explore the areas enough to find it.

Soul efficient build, does everything to make sure he's acquiring the highest amount of souls possible so he can level up as quickly as possible. Farms titanite and souls to upgrade every weapon to its max as soon as he gets it.

He goes for sorcery build because "If you have magic, you can do both damage AND defense!". Goes naked or wears little armor with no shields because rolling is superior to blocking or getting hit. Takes "git gud" to the extreme and will watch boss videos and memorize their combos before even attempting them.

Has a Let's Play, IGN guide, and wiki going on in the background to make sure he doesn't miss out on questlines or items. Posts questions on reddit and 4chan and then looks up the answer on google/wiki -before checking responses- so he can cross reference them.

Ends the game with perfectly softcapped stats.

Spends 3 hours in the character customizer at the start.

Uses the default starting gear, says it's really fun. Wanders around a lot in areas, even after she's killed all the enemies, just looking for small hollows to kill. Really likes how they make the items all glowy so you don't miss them. Listens to every NPC dialogue even though she has no idea what the story is. Doesn't light or sit at bonfires until she's out of estus.

Every time she goes to level up with whatever souls she's held onto, she asks her boyfriend or her dad (who don't even play the games, or maybe played once a while ago) what to level up. If they're not around, she just picks whatever looks low because she likes her stats to look all "even" because that's probably pretty good.

Whenever she dies she doesn't pick up her souls but keeps wandering instead. When she dies to a boss she just goes somewhere else.

She might pick up some other weapons but she is comfortable with her default gear so she uses it through the entire game. Really doesn't like the ugly/gross bosses. Eventually beats after she asks boyfriend/dad where she should go to next after she runs out of places to go.

Chad is simple, but effective. Like a sports player listening to his coach, if the game says this weapon has higher numbers, he will use it because that's a better weapon. Maybe if two things are really close but one looks "cool" he'll pick it instead. Boss soul weapons are a thing he will use too because those are probably pretty good right? Assuming he stops boss rushing long enough to learn how to make them.

The hallmark of a chad is that they are simple human beings, but effective. They always do exactly what is expected of them and enjoy simple "X is better than Y" comparisons.

is DS3 playable with M+KB? Tried both DS1 and 2 with keyboard, and that obviously didn't go to well, so got a controller, but it's not working anymore. DS3 would be the only game I'd use it for, since I usually only play FPS.

Probably not, most /dsg/ is dexfags or meta /tier list weapons (meta tends to be dex anyway). Chads don't go strength on purpose though, they end up going strength purely because strength weapons have higher damage and if they're just roll-attack repeating (not doing combos or anything like that) then why would they use a weaker weapon?

Most modern third person shooters have fuzzy lock on and snap-to enemy aiming. They don't require precision aiming, they require analog stick movement and being able to control the camera while moving. Yes you can do all that with a KB+M but it's rough on the fingers and generally kinda sucks.

It comes down to how well the game's controls and aiming system works. Not all shooters are counter strike clones.

Just started playing 2 for the first time. Up to the 3 Sentinels at the Bastille. What a shitty boss fight.

I knew this game was meant to be the worst in the series but thought it would an exaggeration. Seriously, it's shit though. The majority of levels I've seen are full of shitty, badly animated enemies. Still gonna give it a chance, but so far it's either felt too easy or too difficult as a result of poor design.

You hit it right on the head. Dark Souls 2's idea of difficulty is throwing a large number of enemies at you all at once and teleporting you into attacks that shouldn't have hit you.

Which fucking sucks because it has the most build variety of any game in the series.

DS2's philosophy is that the game itself should be easy, but figuring out what to do optimally should be hard, so that you feel a sense of progression by actually understanding how all the items / subsystems/optimizations work. DS2 is the easiest game if you play it right because of this, and the hardest if you don't know what you're doing.

Hardest part of DS2 is figuring out which stats to level and what weapons to use for each situation. It's easy to go through the game 3 or 4 times and not even realize half of the mechanics or added depth to the progression because you missed it your first time though.

But it does some things WAY better than the other games, mostly in the amount of options, powers, variety, and customization you have compared to DS1/DS3. It's also just a fuckin' huge game in terms of sheer content.

If you like short, artistic games with high quality that you can play once and experience as the developer intended, you will hate DS2.

If you like long, sprawling games focusing more on customization, mechanics, and replay value (rather than graphics/story) then you will like DS2.

I think everyone knows that DS2 is lower budget and lower production quality regardless. It's just more unique and different from the rest of the series, so that's why it has a lot of fans despite that.

DaS2 excels at customization, and it is a bigger game than any other in the series, but going through the majority of the game feels like a chore because the massive amount of content that is there feels like boring filler. The world just sucks and there is nothing interesting about it.

Strength /Fth is generally the best for a first time playthrough because other builds require a more complex equipment setup, requiring more knowledge of where items are located, and because healing is so restricted in early game DS2 that faith builds have a huge advantage on survivability.

Everyone remembers Sen's Fortress and Anor Londo. They're well-designed and stick with you because they're interesting both in their aesthetics and in how you progress through them.

Dark Souls 2's areas are just bland and boring. They're clearly designed as arenas and hallways to scatter about loot and give the players some enemies to dispatch before the boss. Not a single one sticks out for a positive reason.

And as far as bosses go, Dark Souls 2 may have more, but more than half of them are boring, lazily designed pieces of shit that aren't any fun to fight. Completely agree. The worst flaw in DS2 (and one that I'm baffled they never fixed) was not making every armor and weapon available via chests or merchants. They created this great system that allows for lots of control over your drop rates and trades higher drop rates for harder difficulty, but then they went ahead and made NG+ farming MANDATORY for certain items.

I can understand them not fixing the lighting or other things with SOTFS, but I truly do not understand how they removed some farming and made -other- items required farming instead.

I think that was patched that way when they changed how sharp/heavy/refined infusions worked and made refined nerfed.

Keep craftsman's hammer at +0. Use it against heavily armored enemies until you have enough strength to use the dragon tooth or to power stance your bastard sword with another greatsword.

Get your bastard sword to +6 (macduff sells large shards infinitely). then work on a backup thrust weapon that scales with strength. Grand Lance is fantastic.

Faith build Heide Lance + Greatshield is my go-to recommendation for early game players, with Grand Lance + Greatshield for pure strength/quality builds.

How do I get the innkeep to give me the rescue quest for the smith's apprentice? I really need the reward for that prong damage because I've already unlocked the 3rd Gate of Agron and not matter how many times I've killed the Headless Knight, he won't drop the longsword. Can I get the Sacred Blade by just killing the innkeep instead? I imagine no, seems counter intuitive and defeats the purpose

You need to use scan mode to check their KE/CE/TE defense, then swap to the appropriate weapons. Also the guys with big shields are good to kick. I think there's a subquest guide on youtube if you're having trouble finding the hidden parts.

Looks decent, you don't need that much Strength for Quills though even to have a decent med shiled in your offhand. Lower it to 18 at most and put those points in Dex or Endurance. You should either keep your Dex at 40 or go all the way to 80 for maximum damage memes.

If you want to go 27/40, try using boss weapons instead since they can't be infused.

If you're going dex, then respec to 16 strength (for astora GS). Then either go for 80 dex or try to get some utility casting.

Astora Greatsword is a dexterity thrusting ultra greatswords, with high S dex scaling when infused. For strength builds, 16 dex (for Splitleaf GS) is best.

Also, if you want to cast, you can keep leveling your int/fth up to 60. Stop at 40 for scaling buffs. 30/30 or 40/40 for pyromancy.

So some solid endgame stats are

It comes up best sharp because astora natively has high dex scaling.

Sharp/Heavy/Refined basically apply a multiplier to the scaling letters, so if it's already got high dex scaling, going sharp will give it even higher dex scaling.

Sharp is usually better for all weapons with equal scaling (like C/C) or higher dex scaling, and is best for high investment/late game.

Heavy has lower scaling usually, but because of the 2H bonus you get more damage per level. It caps out lower though (66 = 99 2H) so even on C/C weapons heavy infusion tends to be inferior.

Refined is a little weaker than both of them for the same stat investment, but has the benefit of letting you retain most (~95%) of your potential damage while also being able to equip a lot wider variety of weapons and have optimal stats for non-infusable weapons like boss and unqiue twinkling weapons

It's the ultimate false trump card of the shitter. You can tell they think they're immensely clever for using one in a panic situation. The vast majority of the time, they just end up looking super confused when things get super chaotic during a seeded situation.

It's just one of those little things that is so completely perfect about the online interactions in these games. Hated seeds at first, but I wouldn't want a Souls game without them now.

the dark fog is useful for poisoning.
Dark clutch ring from eleum loyce
Cryptblacksword infused with dark from killing the rotten the second time. I used it to kill many bosses because it's so damn strong. Literally does 1k damage per hit when buffed with dark also.
Sunset staff is the best staff.
abyss ring if you want spell buffs at the cost of health.
you can also use the witch staff because it casts everything and just infuse it with dark. That staff allows you to cast all both staff and chime hexes, however all the resonant hexes are just as strong as dark orb so you can just use the sunset staff.

Since there aren't many good dark damage weapons in early game, it's best to go pyro with something like a chaos rapier.

Sacred Chime Hammer is GOAT. Crypt blacksword is OP. Mace of the Insolent is pretty good. Anything can be infused fire or dark though.

On the flip side, I love when an invader sees that I'm progressing through an area, runs into the middle of a mob, stretches out, and subsequently start panic rolling away when I seed him.

Seeds are one of my favorite additions from Dark Souls 2. So many DaS1 shitters who would hide in every mob in sight trying to get the safest cheap shot in at every opportunity.
