Honestly, same. I was hoping for Varric initially, and when he got confirmed as non-romanceable I gave Solas a look and figured I'd go for him at some point later on, since I already had an idea for my first Inquisitor and wanted her to be a dwarf. Then that ended up being two files started alongside each other, and then I left my Dwarfquisitor to rot in the Hinterlands because it turned out I liked how mages worked, and then the Fade kiss happened and I was smitten. Arguably the best turn of events of my entire experience with the series, since I don't think it would've had the same impact if I hadn't romanced him blind.

I had planned to romance Origins' poster-character, Morrigan, from the beginning. I was not aware how romance works in Bioware games, so I ended up flirting with both Morrigan and Leliana. After completing Morrigan's romance, I accidentally spoke with Leliana outside Orzammar, and she got all sad and angry about my dual relationship. Leliana's breakup dialogue made me so sad that I had to reload my 6 hours old save, just so I can properly romance her without Morrigan's intrusion. The more I got to know Leliana's character, the more I liked her. I had to redo all of the Orzammar/Deep Roads portion again, but it was well worth it.

I think one of the responses the inquisitor can make to his "revelation" is "you could die cully wully!" or something, to which he replies all stoic like to show that he's a manly man with a spine of steel. I can sort of see why he's such a whiny bitch when it comes to Samson, the fact that his character act is all about cutting ties (which are represented by lyrium) to the templar order and discovering his independence or whatnot sort of explains why he despises someone who lacks agency because he's both a lapdog of the bad guy and a lyrium addict. However, his inability to see from another person's point of view and the fact that he judges everything from his own limited perspective puts him on a similar level as Sera in my eyes

There are still templars, they just have significantly less power. It might actually be cool to see a templar native to the Imperium who's jaded with the way blood magic is handled and sides with the protagonist to try and change it - not Circle levels, maybe he just wants to protect people who end up being victims or sacrifices.

You're right, there's quite a lot of good/interesting templars around I'd add Samson to that list as well but I wonder how Northern Templars are on the whole. They don't have the cool magic-cancelling ablities and are just there for posterity, that's a whole other slew of people who get into that position. A lot of the southerners do it from the genuine desire to protect people, but just fulfilling a mandatory role? That's whole set of other stories you could tell.

There are actually a lot of banters supposed to go on in Skyhold, but for some reason they just don't trigger. They are in the game data, though, and you can listen to them on Youtube.

For example, you learn that a noble threw her glass of wine at Solas because he was an apostate, but he dealed with it with "great tact", according to Josephine, and Leliana receives drawings from Cole that depict a blooming rose that she mistakes for cabbage. You can also learn more about Josie and Blackwall's relationship, Sera's pranks, and Dorian's visits to the winecellar. A pity the game just refuses to let you hear them while you walk in the fortress.

Yeah, they are really taking their sweet time, but it's undeniable that they are working on it. Anthem probably stole all the spotlight, like Andromeda did - and they were forced to put all the focus on MEA because they knew it sucked and it needed all the attention. Anthem is a new, risky IP, so it needs all the marketing as well.
