Would the game have been better if all the Yaldabaoth shit was scrapped, and Shido was the final boss? Obviously they'd still have to do something with Mementos though. Maybe it could be tied in with Shido.

It's fun if you have patience and are ready to deal with bullshittery. There are a ton of party memebers which is also nice so you can experiment.
But in these types of games, the maps are the battles, so you have to be paying attention to your resources since there aren't any save points in dungeons and almost no healing spots either.
The story is a lot like one's and has some good character interactions

It's a spin-off and it doesn't really have the same gameplay or quality of the main series, but it's a fun and challenging side game.
The characterization of the casts are infamously pretty embellished, but on its own it's a solid little game. I actually went into it not having played P3 and only some of P4G, and I found it to be a good stepping stone into the series, like a Persona Lite.

It's a heavy fanservice game.
Honestly, the flanderization complaints are blown out of proportion, the only ones extremely flanderized are Akihiko, Chie, and Teddie.

The rest range from Ok to actually great.

If you like dungeon crawlers, it easily has the best gameplay in the franchise...with a few balancing issues(Like super OP status effects.)

Also Dungeon 4 sucks, but dungeon 5 is amazing. I don't regret my time with the game at all.

I feel like the whole plot fell apart after the ruse.

Akechi was made into a generic "protagonist but evil with a tragic backstory and he hates other people but sacrifices himself" anime character. Shido was great, but the reasoning behind "we have to go to Mementos and not target Shido's supporters" was dumb, Yaldy's motivations made no sense, and the jail bit was especially dumb and felt really unneeded.

Yaldy was fine but he needed WAY more buildup.

It was literally like a few days ingame. At least Persona 4 showed Izanami at the start, and you did get a good sense of a seemingly apocalyptic scenario with the fog, and Golden hints that there's still more work to be done. Persona 3 had two months of Nyx and the build up to that fight, even if it dragged on REALLY long, it gave the best feeling that the world was about to end.

Persona 5 didn't really... give that feeling. If we had say another month

While I completely understand that people get annoyed that she throws herself on Mc, I like that Rise has a strong personality and just goes after what she wants.

I also think she's a very multifaceted character. It's pretty hammered in that the "genki girl" persona is partly a projected image in order to keep the others in good spirits, but she has a continual struggle between that idol image and her actual "mundane" personality and dreams.She's also pretty insecure, and a lot of that over the top "personality" is to counteract that as well.

That's just something I like about the spinoffs in general.

Sure, they generally have shitty stories, maybe heavy flanderization for some characters.

But I think seeing Kanji broing it with ken in Q(and convincing him to abandon his kill shinji plan), or Akihiko and Chie with their Master/disciple thing going on just adds a lot to the overall world.

The spinoff stories may suck, and sometimes characterization is off, but the character interactions across casts from different games is special IMHO.
