So I was having fun comparing P5 locations and rail map with real-life Tokyo. Then I went to Google Maps and checked how long Joker's route to school actually takes, since they make such a big deal of it in the tutorial.

I think it's more that the collective unconscious is a real dimension/plane/whatever, and that the TV World and Metaverse and Velvet Room all those other worlds are just different parts of that dimension.

Like... I imagine sand castles on a beach, where the sand is the collective unconscious and each castle is 'another world'. They're constructs formed out of chaotic matter, shapes that humans can recognize and navigate, and although each is unique they're still made of the same stuff. Exactly what it sounds like, you're not allowed to fight any enemy that's not mandatory. It's really fun to find ways to get past the shadows, and you need to watch out for surprise shadows, like the one that spawns on top of that chandelier in Kamoshida's castle as you step onto it.
I've found that as long as you don't run, you can slip past any shadow, even in narrow corridors, by abusing that brief delay they have when they spot you and are confused, without them noticing you.
And if you mess up still, you can avoid the fight by avoiding them long enough, because they'll despawn after chasing you for a while.
