Castle has 2 main issues. The first is that everybody and their mother can counter him. The second is that his ability is near impossible to use properly without a very well coordinated team since you've got no way of knowing what every other person on your team is planning to do, and therefore no way of knowing where/when it would be best to use your barricades. Giving him an extra one would be nice, but it wouldn't change the fact that, in the overwhelming majority of cases, Castle will usually be a liability rather than an assett.

If you are solo queuing or even if you have a full team, but everyone is just going about their own way without a strategy, then he is barely useful at best and actively detrimental most of the time.

Meleeing a castle barricade takes time and makes a lot of noise so everyone will know where you are and do whatever they can to kill you.

Once you get a hang of the gunplay and what the operators basically do, your first call should be to learn the maps. I don't just mean learn what stairs take you where, learn what ceiling leads to what section of what room on the floor above, learn the camera spots, learn what hatches there are to fall through, windows and doors to enter from, everything.

After this, start focusing on angles through walls/floors/windows/doorways etc.
Also look at positioning yourself better (crouching please don't prone until you are aware of how fucking noisy moving around whilst prone is).

A Rook round as a beginner will generally go something along these lines, for example;
>Spawn in, place armour on ground straight away so your roamers can pick theirs up and run off
>Reinforce walls leading to obvious entry points do not ever reinforce walls between bomb-sites unless specifically asked by a Mira
>Set up your shield in a side spot on the objective room, continually check cameras to see where they're coming from, watch entrances and talk to your team
>Hold that point fatboy
