Frisk is a self-insert due to the fact that important things are always done by the player.
Some of the things done automatically would be tedious to do by the player, and the things with the talking seem wrong due to the fact that most actions in which the char. talks are something more abstract than just "talk".
Also if someone says that Chara is a self insert he would be retarded because Chara's actions are not forced by the player except killing flowey at the end and are autonomous.

Throughout the entire game, every choice is clearly made visible, either through prompts to choose from, or through dialogue options. Every single one. Force-closing the game is not a prompt and not an in-game decision, it's just pulling the plug on a world in a way that Chara has no control over. I was thinking once about a comic/story I would make if I had creative skills.

Nah, I assume somewhere along the thousands, since at least some areas were described as crowded. What I assume is that Alphys lead a coordinated evacuation effort, while a lot of other monsters just straight-up ran for the hills. They could be nestled up all around New Home, since you never explore the place.

I think one of the biggest problems is that Voltra never got criticized for anything. And I don't mean this in just 'THIS AU IS SHIT' shitflinging, but even among the shitposting here, I've seen a lot of posts go significantly in-depth about where Storyshift went tits-up and why they were ill-advised decisions, stuff like the Flowey-Blook retcon. What made these especially interesting is that most of them were people who used to be fans of the AU for a while.

Instead, Reddit and Tumblr (aside from the whole debacle recently) were constantly praising it to the high heavens, without regards to some of the weaker points. I've heard that the massive focus on Asriel and Chara wore on her as well, but if nothing else it did give some fairly good material (that Korean comic of Chara's Genocide speech comes to mind). On top of that was everything else that might have hindered her along the way.

Basically, it probably would have remained on a better track if there were some healthy criticism issued every now and again. Objective stuff, like King Sans' remark about hunters threatening Frisk if they stayed being completely pointless, because we've never even heard of these hunters before. That wouldn't have stopped personal problems, but I think almost every content creator eventually gets tired of just pure glowing praise, because they don't believe their work is perfect, and a little bit of honest critique would help them a lot.

I seem to recall Hotlands was either very rushed or very hard to get through, but either way the end result was by far the worst region. The biggest problem is that it changed something that was really key to both of them, which didn't sit well with some people. Asgore's fallibility was gone and Undyne was completely defanged.

I know very little of Storyshift beyond the main characterswaps and Histroustle, but from a cursory viewing I actually like the idea of Chara being the Genocide boss. Instead of Sans' gimmick of making your LV pointless by dodging, it's now pointless because LV doesn't have the same impact on humans as monsters. A knife slash at LV1 does the same damage to a human as one at LV20. So you can have a pretty lengthy fight out of it for different reasons.

Hey guys, nother update today related to the game's item system.

Due to Cheerie selling healing items, I realized I did need some sort of key item/bartering merchant that you could sell found/obsolete equipment too.

Rather than just make the 'nuTemmie', I thought it'd be cool to have a scavenger that would collect items you ignored/missed in cleared areas to sell back to you. Did you miss that bowl of candy in the first area? They'll sell it to you for money. Finders keepers.

Initially I was going to use a bird until I realized Cheerie existed, then it slowly evolved into a hermit crab thanks to some inspiration from a certain Jim Henson movie that involved a certain Goblin King.

Design or even the character being in the game is not final atm, but I do like them so far.

Zombietale was pretty nice and spirited until the flasback. I've dropped it since, because Toriel is a fucking retard on top of being incredibly cruel to both Asriel's memory and Asgore, the plot makes no sense (how does Asriel have memories of Chara if they fucking killed him), and the whole flashback sequence has gone on way too long now. The non-comic Chara responses are also some of the edgiest goddamn emotional manipulation I've seen in a long time.

Frisk falls into the Underground as a zombie. Biting another monster corrupts their soul and transforms them into zombies as well, and you can see how this quickly gets worse.

It's currently in Snowdin, but entered a flashback. To sum it up Chara falls and upon being frightened by Asriel, kills him and when Toriel sees this, stabs themself in the throat. Toriel nurses them back to health (I dunno, roll with it), and they adopt Chara, but she never tells Asgore about what happened and he only knows Asriel died in a freak puzzle accident. Chara eventually confesses, at which point Asgore stabs them in the face. That's as far as it got so far.

Thanks anon, I really appreciate you writing this for me. I hope I can appreciate being a man one day, but I don't know if I have it in me right now. It just makes me feel sad, like there's nothing out there that I'd enjoy if I was like that. It feels so much better to think back and want to be a little boy and be taken care of again. Get a job, it will teach you responsibility and scheduling by necessity. Don't go to a college unless it openly publishes its alumni/employment success rate (trade schools are making a big comeback as a cheaper alternative that'll arguably leave you better off if you play your cards right, but apply the same sort of skepticism and research). If you do go, only go in for exactly what you need for the job you're looking at and then get out. Do not fall for purple prose and lofty feel-good language designed to manipulate you into wasting your life savings and turn you into yet another debt slave. You can go back to follow your dreams later in life if you've achieved the success and money needed for it (unlikely, though if you've followed all this to the letter, as well as the general spirit and improvised as the need arises, probably not through any fault of your own.)

Speaking of which: do not let society or its expectations stop you from doing what you truly want, but understand that chances are it won't go your way. What we're going through right now is an entire generation that's being told it "can be anything it wants to be" and becoming bitter, cynical, and full of rage when reality slaps them in the face. If you really want to chase your dreams, understand that the powers that be already have enough "idea guys". Understand that luck plays more of a role in success these days than actual capabilities or even connections. Understand that most fail and then live their lives in abject misery. Understand that if you go through with it, you're probably next. Then ask yourself if you truly understand all this, along with the consequences, and if the incredibly unlikely payoff even comes close to outbalancing the life of sadness and poverty that more than likely awaits you. If the answer is yes, feel free to pursue your passion(s) as you see fit.
