The gun is shit at anything but close range. A close range shot is almost always a one shit. Medium range is usually 2. Anything beyond that is worthless.
Don't bring an anti-titan weapon. Instead bring a pistol with some range like the Wingman Elite or the P2016.
I use gravity star because fuck other people's fun
The gun has virtually no vertical spread. That means if you aim for the feet it will only hit feet and you're fucked. It does have exceptional horizontal spread though.

Mastiff is effective enough at medium range, and closing long-range distances is fast enough, that you'll be perfectly fine with Mastiff for taking down pilots

most people use charge rifle wrong. You should use it as your main weapon and keep it charged s you approach the enemy, firing off one shots left and right. Then you can take out your primary and clean up.

Why the hell is TTK so low? It's clear the meta weapons are all the ones that deal enough damage you can't respond if you're caught unawares and you can't be looking every direction at once.

If they were even 50% longer you'd have a shot (no pun intended) at reacting to most weapons, excepting of course the actual 1-shot kills.

Not exactly. It's worth noting that if you ADS with the Mastiff, the projectile spread tightens dramatically. You have a smaller margin of error, but the likeliness of a killshot increases. If you've very close and hipfire the Mastiff, you aren't going to get all your projectiles to hit. The latest buffs are designed to make the projectiles bigger sooner, improving the gun's overall consistency.

Do unactivated charged weapons no longer stack? I loved keeping them just to blow them all on enemy dropship at the end and now I can't seem to do so.

It's essential and you should use it as much as possible. It's dps is higher than the splitter rifle and it's hitscan. The trick is, that one shot will drain 50% of your energy. So you can fire exactly 2 shots before a slightly long cooldown. To be effective, you have to know when to use it and when you should use the vortex shield/tripwire mines instead. The splitter rifle is there for harassment, building up energy(if you use entangled energy) and actually being able to attack between cooldowns. However, it is only effective in close-mid range. You will have to lead your shots too. And even then you will end up wishing you had something more powerful.

This begs the question of why they bothered to put it in at all when the times when it would be most useful are the times when it is most likely to hit an obstacle.

I forgot to mention, you get the same points for hacking them as you do for killing them. If the enemy kills them after they're hacked they get nothing.
Also when you hack one it also AoE hacks any that happen to be nearby at the time the hack completes. It's easiest to do with active camo, and they're also very easy to ruse.

Smart Pistol has yet to shake off its stigma from the first game as the most low-effort gun in the game. People hate the Smart Pistol because of the idea behind it: point your gun at an enemy, wait a couple seconds while it acquires a lock, then pull the trigger to get a kill. It's a pistol that literally does all the work for you.

The fact that it's no longer a primary weapon and is now limited to a boost that replaces your secondary and only has two magazines doesn't lessen the hate it gets. People will call your kills and any wins you get as a result "illegitimate" because you used the Smart Pistol. Even your fucking teammates will apologize on your behalf if you win them a round of Live Fire using it. That's how salty people get about it.
