Tried the dye mod out, I guess it's okay.

Haven't tried the paint gun and block painter but they probably aren't much harder to understand. Now on to figuring out how to farm cocoa beans, I guess a simple timer system should be good enough.

All I can really say is that this is an extreme hills world. I don't think you can ask for a better world really. It has a tiny bit higher gravity than normal, but it isn't too terrible.

Even though the end quest wants me to find a particular tree, I think I've pretty much done what I needed to do, and that's to get off that shitty desert world to a much better one, like this. Thus concludes my playthrough of Forever Stranded.

The problem with tracing is that people post up things they traced and claim it's their own work.
Tracing as a study tool is a legitimate thing, but it's like the first step or baby training wheels. You do it once or twice for something you have a hard time with, then you move on to just referencing or challenging yourself to see what you've learned.

The general problem with that is that modded Minecraft's popularity comes from the sheer amount of content created by hundreds of volunteers. Ok, confirmed. Zombies drop of the basic plants you need to start BambooMod: Sakura Saplings, Seaweed Seeds and Tomatoes drop from them. Bean Seeds and Rice Seeds drop from breaking tall grass.

Flower pots, paintings for a good start. Also a pot with shrub/cacti and few blocks of leaves on top for a big/tall plant.
Redstone lamps with levers can also fit some interiors. Or hanging glowstone in bigger and taller rooms.

Quick question. I was playing around with custom npcs and I got stuck while I was making a quest.

Basically, you find two prisoners in a cell having a conversation and you intervene. The thing is that they are NOT having the conversation, sometimes they do just when I get really close and sometimes they have half of it. I've changed the range and all, but nothing seems to work.

Minenautica looks cool but it's about as unfinished as the game. The game at least has a Trello which lets oyu see what's happening. Minenautica doesn't even do a config so you get stuck with whatever bullshit it destroys in the worldgen

I also want to figure out how to get Pyscheldelicraft's text garbling effects as well as Asielib's greentext tweak. From the looks of things, I'd get back drunktext if I disable greentext, but I need clarification.

I also need to find a copy of Minecrack to hand out to friends, since all of them miraculously lost their fucking accounts at once. It's bad enough already that we have to run offline mode. I'm not liking the idea of having to fork money over to kikerosoft for all the bullshit they've pulled.

1.7.10 is the best version for mod availability, but some are exclusive to versions past that, though not much.

Extrabiomes XL, biomes 'o' plenty, and biomebundle (though I think that one's buggy) are your choices for biomes.
Structures and dungeons you have recurrent complex, which is mostly used to add structures but has some placeholders, roguelike dungeons, and a few others.
Dimensional Doors is cool as shit.

Decoration-wise, bibliocraft is the big one.
There's also decocraft, which eats a assload of RAM, chisels and bits, mr. crayfish's furniture mod.
For block choice, chisel has a metric fuckload.

Texture/resource packs reskin vanilla assets.
Mods add shitloads of content and are completely new code, typically using forge as a modloader, most bigger than the vanilla game in terms of scope.

If you have a texture pack with mods, and the texture pack is a different resolution, it clashes with the mod's textures hard due to the fact most mods textures are 16x and there's usually a difference in artstyle.
Some texture packs have support for mods, though they never cover them all.

Installing a mod is as simply as dragging and dropping it into a folder, once you've installed forge, and there are 3rd party launcher that easily handle that.

There aren't that many mods for villages, one of the best village changes is part of witchery, a druidic witchy type magic mod, which among the demonic rituals, vampyrism, the dream dimensions, the mirror thing, the curses, adds the possibility for villages to have walls, as well as guard towers and guards who will actually defend the village, along with adding a sleep cycle and little beds they sleep in.
There's also minecraft comes alive, which isn't that good, but that's mostly a matter of taste.

That black stuff is mostly safe to walk on, it's the fabric of reality, unless it's one of the dungeons where the trap is that there's gaps you can't see because it's the same color as the skybox.
Also if you die in there, you don't actually lose anything, you just get stuck in limbo and have to find your way out, which just teleports you to a random location.

So I've been having fun with making bots for vanilla multiplayer servers. It behaves just like a normal client except that I have made a set of fully automated tasks for it.

The woodchopping one is for my farm,
it will walk balk and forth chopping down the tree,
then removing most leaves, then drop an apple and sapling (to collect all the items nearby. The range for items to merge with recent drops is much larger than player pickup radius, so it removes any chance of losing items.
Then it plants a sapling, and goes to next tree.
It also chooses the right tools and items, ofc. And yes you can use shears too.

I use Alt's to run the script while I play on my main.

I also have a script to make large rooms underground.

Don't try and backseat develop the bot.
The server was odd when it came to drops, and would despawn saplings very quickly. Originally it did not cut leaves, but the bot would slowly lose all saplings if it didnt. So now it does. The farm is big enough to provide a large amount of wood even when removing leaves.

I know that TFC2 is a trainwreck and it makes me equally disappointed. Bioxx has always been MUH VISION about his work and now it's just ridiculous. Forced hexes for worldgen because haha rivers, replacing the acceptable farming system with Pam's when you have a community of people who would gladly make sprites for meals. Just why.

My best hope at this point is learning Java and finishing TFC1 or making addons that let you heavily customize it. There's nothing comparable in sight for later versions and I doubt anyone would bother with how the MC community is.

Spiders have a shitload of health and no weakness. Generally all mobs will rape you until you have metal armor, which can take in-game months to obtain so unless you build a tiny shack and hide inside of it you'll die constantly. Then you'll die constantly anyways because skeletons spawn with leather-bronze armor, which usually includes a helmet and their javelins do half your health.

If it was 1.10 and you could make crude wooden shields right off the bat, it wouldn't be TOO bad.

Hard to choose... I really like the aesthetic of Antique Atlas and it seems lightweight (just like >>174731308 mentioned, Bibliocraft always looked bloated to me), but the Bibliocraft Atlas looks a lot more robust and I also really like how it interacts with the vanilla item maps, not to mention there are some other Bibliocraft items I always wanted (SHELVES).

You know good and well if mojang adds new mobs, they will be "this is interesting or novel for 5 minutes/one extremely specific use" tier.
AKA bats (they literally exist to gum up redstone or get in the way of combat), parrots (bats with a gimmick), llamas and donkies (obsoleted by shulker boxes/endedchests, llamas especially in the very same update they were added), and pigs (obsoleted by horses and cows).

And personally, any weapons or overhauls that would make combat engaging. Like, it's not even specifically the weapon variety swords, axes, bows, fire stuff, it's enough to work with. Adding a cooldown to combat was an okay step. Not sure why mobs need iframes if there's a combat timer. Being able to string together hits or mobs having weak spots could be nice. Maybe also mobs that might be dangerous to fight alone. So far there's no random mob that's worth being afraid of. Mobs are only an issue in sizeable groups.

I had to look into it, they used to trip pressure plates and if I recall, could activate tripwire hooks. They had to code them not to do that. So now they are just ambiance. I've never been in a situation where I was roaming the wilds and a single creeper spelled my demise. Creepers rely on other mobs to preoccupy you to be a threat. I would like a mob that's a viable threat on it's own. Enderman are somewhat close, but their whole 3 block tall thing makes them so easy to juke it's rediculous.

Minecraft runs a server even if you play singleplayer, this is to make everything easier on the devs or something.
However, the math for horses is badly designed and breaks a lot, meaning that where your game thinks the horse is, and where the server thinks the horse is can be completely different.
This leads to a lot of problems, including horses disappearing, getting stuck in walls, etc.
This is called desynchronization.

I have a rotating lighthouse set up in my vanilla world, complete with mechanical sounds. It's really a simple rig up using a mine cart, detector rails and lamps. The mine cart going around the track and activating each set of lights makes a distinct mechanical sound.

https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/261199-animania is good for farm animals. Most of them are redone versions of the vanilla farm animals, but I enjoy them. More of an overhaul than an addition. It's only for the meme versions, but since you're on vanilla anyway playing on a newer version of Minecraft probably won't bother you.

If you mean just pets in general, there's one more I'd personally recommend. If you're willing to go to an older version of the game, Fossils and Archeology adds in dinosaurs you can raise. That'll require you to explore new chunks for the fossils, though. The best part about this mod is that aside from the fish it adds to rivers, you can pick and choose exactly what you want to spawn in, since you have to bring the dinosaurs back to life yourself. It's currently on 1.7.10, but it'll likely update to 1.10.2 soon. Also on 1.10.2 is Ice and Fire, if the idea of raising your own dragon appeals to you. It's currently kinda buggy, since it's the first real release. I use it, but it's probably better to wait until they iron out some of the bugs and minor irritations.

Those are the only pet mob mods that I'd personally recommend. Mo Creatures also exists, but it's a buggy mess, and is impossible to configure unless you have Custom Mob Spawner, which is absolute shit. Lycanite's Mobs is another, but the artstyle does not fit the game at all, and the spawn rates are needlessly frustrating unless you know the config files inside and out. This is to say nothing of Spriggans and Geonachs, who have stupid spawn conditions like spawning in your face when you're harvesting crops or mining. It's usable, but not for everyone. I don't recommend it.

Jesus, what a long, autistic post this is. I hope it helped, at least. Keep in mind that you will have to downgrade to 1.10.2 or 1.7.10 to get the most out of modding, but 1.11.2 is doable. Most people here play 1.7.10, since it still has the most options, and also the best performance.

I think parrots are good as well and fun, but not something to release alone. I enslave and press these villagers into service working day and night producing materials for my ever expanding empire.

Let's see.
I think it's metroidvania enough. What I got somewhat right is the linear aspect of the game in a big map. Still, there are some alternative routes and plenty of shortcuts when you clear and area.
I like the mythical monsters and the legendary items.
Can't do much with quests because I'm a code pleb, but some of them are alright too thanks to mods.
Monsters and bosses are very different in shape, and hopefully they will also be fun to fight. Finally, the different items should allow players to have different PVP strategies when the game ends, though the original idea was to beat this game on your own with no other people around.

It should be ready to be uploaded it in 5 days or so. I'll upload it on /mcg/ only and keep it there for a while until someone beats the main quest and the DLC quest.
It's not really a DLC, but kinda feels like one

99% of the time people play with trains because they like trains. They're great for long range logistics, but Minecraft as it is barely has any reason for that. Normal people just use ender chests, tesseracts or such if they ever have the need.

I myself made use of cofh to make specific ores generate in specific biomes, just so I'd have another reason to lay tracks and drive trains.

When I played that pack before, I edited the quest files to change all crafting tasks to retrieval, and allow gaining quest credit if an item is obtained "too early".
