I'm actually considering going Sword3>Rodel3>Corsair>Murmillo due to the rebalancing patch. Swordie don't get helmet buffs or taunt like peltasta but I feel like PBarrier + Restrain are already good, putting the new Pommel Beat it might actually deal quite a hefty amount of damage with it.

111 int is like 270 magic attack with the new formula (despite stats being reworked, they're still kind of shit and make up a tiny fraction of your damage).

Just a reminder, this update will fuck up stats worse than they are right now. The ONLY thing it'll fix is the difference between a person with shit gear and a whale will be smaller.

If you need a comparison, right now 329 Str or Int gives about 730 damage (329 is the amount you get purely from levels).
After the update you get 817 attack from 329 Str, or 881 magic attack from int.

However, weapons have basically gotten 4x damage.
A +15 stage 10 level 315 purple sword right now gives 4166 to 4816 damage. After this update the same sword 5427 to 5748 damage.
You'd also get 1 + your level bonus damage to attack and magic attack.
Which means if all variables are the same, a person before this update has 5231 to 5881 damage. Of this his stats make up 19% of the damage if you average the damage range.
After this update the same person would have 6579 to 6900 damage. Oh this his stats make up 17% of the damage, again with averaged damage spread.

The difference is bigger for better weapons (315 orange/solmiki gear).

Literally the only thing this update is doing is making the difference between a brand new weapon and a fully upgraded one smaller, and it's nerfing dex.

Also if not for percentage defence (and basically no crits), after this update your damage would be fucking astronomically higher.

Con will be the new best stat. The reason is simple.
Each point of con you get makes your defence more effective, and each point of defence you get makes your con more effective.

This same logic does not apply to any other stat in the game. Each point of str does not make your weapons attack any better, nor does your weapons attack make your str more effective. They both add to the same stat.

It's the same reason why Dex is currently so good. It's two stats that work together and multiply the effectiveness of each other. Dex makes weapon damage better and weapon damage makes Dex better.

Right now defence is not a multiplier of Hp though. It's a flat reduction in damage and once you surpass the damage anything can deal (which isn't even hard) you don't need con. If nothing can damage you why the fuck would you need to stack con for hp?

Retards, you'll need to roll a good chunk of con or give up a lot of dps gear to survive now on pve solo, unless you have a cleric 24/7 healing your ass you'll have a severe downtime regenerating and your capacity to pull massive waves of mobs is also tied to your survivability now and con helps on this.

So what' you want to do? Go 0 con + full plate set or 30-50 con and be able to use your proper crit rate leather set when soloing?

Also, clerics even more gods. They need to tone down the last dps rank clerics have for good. Remember when cleric was the only possible tree to do proper rank 8 content before the def/mdef+gem buff?

Well, you can ask a Warlock for power leveling at Demon Prison and there are the hunting grounds, one of the most relevant changes since you've left, but I wouldn't recommend it for leveling up. Mobs there are pretty tough and doesn't give you that much EXP. Just wait until you hit level 200 to start grinding at Alemeth Forest.

Maybe Sword 1 -> Pelt 1 -> Hop 2 -> Squire 3 -> Lancer.

You'll level as a dex3:con1 memer half tank half dps (finestra makes up for the con points to help crit a bit) with a spear and a shield, taunting and tanking for your friends. At rank 8 you get lancer skill that packs quite a fucking punch and have synergy with hoplite (spear lunge + lancer combo is comparable to dragoon 2). main concern is: lancer skills are locked into two handed spears so you'll need to weapon switch to one handed spear + shield when taunting and switching to two handed to help dps if needed. it's a bit awkward at first but it's easy to do once you get used to it.

There's the option to go CATA c1 at rank 4 but you'll lose 50 crit com finestra and spear lunge in favor of a shitty earthwave and weak-ass lv 5 trot (that is basically the same as dashing but with a downtime) and since the character is not pvp focused, missing cata's attribute for block pen is not a big deal.

Hop3doppelgoon is better but hop2cata3lancer vs cata3dragoon2 is kinda similar. spear lunge crush quintain quintain J O U S T is similar to serpentine tooth dethrone dethrone. Both rushes will do ok because mr kim overbuffed rush to nearly cyclone 15 levels (lacking only the deeds...), but if the goon2 decides to bump his rush with serpentine's debuff, the rest of the rotation will be weaken by the lack of it and tooth/soar sux so much in comparison to fencer or even spear throw

I'll only give it to you because of the supportive part of serpentine FOR THE OTHERS and the fact that a real pvp lancer should go sw3-corsair so no room for hop 2 memes

will be okay to do a strong pvm, but the debuff/armor def is not really necessary. the most relevant pierce DPS in the game is the Fencer, and they have Attaque Coquille for over 100% uptime def penetration so... Spear lunge and Serpentine is enough for the cutest dps in the game.

But...the skull swing helps the other shitters like doppels and yourself, plus highlander is very fun on it's own..but the lack of Cleave for the HL skills is something to consider, also the lack of spear throw for yours and pelts utility...

To be honest at the moment pretty much any class can tank to an absurd degree due to the way the defense system works, and the actual HP regen provided by restoration is mediocre; people use it mostly for the hidden boost it gives to healing tiles. There may be a way to combine Krivis's Aukuras with Paladin's Restoration if you want to do a gimmick build based around massive and fast hp regeneration ticks but I've never tried it.
