Well yeah you could play DS2 first, it doesn't really matter. I'm actually playing through DS2 right now for the first time. Every battle feels a lot more difficult than the first one but that might just be me. Dialogue can also get a lot more silly since the protag seems autistic
On the other hand this one feels like it has a lot less tension. DS1 would be more Biblical demons while DS2 would be more alien demons. So whichever one sounds more attractive to you.

So how do the powerlevels for demons actually work? Nyx is summonable as a normal demon in Nocturne and others but is made to be a literally invincble cosmic abomination in Persona 3, to the point they say humans created all the other gods and demons as a psychicical and psychological defense against her.


Same for Izanami in P4. She's powerful in other games but not on the world-destroying levels she was on that one.

They actually give a decent explanation to shadows (demons from the Expanse, a dimension of pure psychic potential, twisted into a shape the palace's owner wants). Also they toy guns oddly make sense in the real world considering the characters have no powers there, in the metaverse where they can jump around and play anime their guns are lethal like Goro found out.

If you let an enemy exploit your weaknesses, you should be punished for it, just like in any other RPG with elemental spells. And physical skills always hit hard when they crit, regardless of if you're playing IV:A, Nocturne or any other megaten.

That's pretty relative. Not having a large pool of skills to have every member of your party to be able to do everything could actually be seen as exciting by some. I can see why it's annoying to you, but lack of resources incentivizes players to make meaningful decisions about what stays and what goes, and plan a strategy around that, which is by no means shallow.

It doesn't matter really, you are mostly using demons to do your damage and gun/items on the MC and the game is not that hard.
Speed and vitality are the "best" stats, but STR gives you damage for your melee, INT gives you bonuses for negotiating and Luck gives you evade and ailment resist.

My favorite SMT spin off is Devil survivor as am a sucker for Srpgs. Overclocked is my favorite, not to say the second sucked but the overall tone of the first game I liked alot more. If you are into Fire emblem you should really try it out. Massive reputability with different endings. And as for the first DeSu game/Overclocked. it has the best out of all the SMT games, Law/Nuetral/Chaos endings each of them being good in their own right unlike in some other SMT games where one is just better then the rest
And since the newest Persona game came out ill voice my opinion on the whole spin off seris. My least, and I think this is true for all of Smtg, liked spinoff is Persona. Persona 1 and 2IS/EP are different from 3-5. P1 and P2's combat is a bit wonky at first glance but really ist all that bad but it is slow and Jrpgs I need it to be fast.
The interface in the PS1 versions of P2IS and P2EP are shit what for the translation of P2EP when you finish EP

P3 combat would be fine even though its slow as balls with its animations but you cant control your party and the enemy designs are garbage. writing is good but for like half the game there is no plot. P4 you can control your members but enemy designs are trash and the writing is fucking garbage

After like a good what, 10 years? Persona finally got guns and demon negations back and are no longer using shitty as fuck shadow desighns. Combat is fast as fuck as to expect from a SMT game finally. Writing and story and characters are almost as good as P2 (P2 is often regarded as having the best story/characters in the SMT franchise) The main dungeons arent randomized trash. But it is still a persona game so if half the game being heavy on story and characters ist your cup of tea you might not like this game. I dont like VN''s either but since the characters arent trash like in P4 I did not mind it. Also after playing 20 SMT games finnaly seeing them in 3D HD gave me a massive boner. I can go on and on about

Yeah, it will be. The only other HD Atlus games, are Catherine, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and Persona 5. This game will most likely surpass all of those others because it is being developed on stronger hardware and it's using a more modern engine. I personally can't wait to see what they do with it.
