It kind of bothers me that there are no real OPERATOR ex-military squadmates. Drack sort of counts but a Krogan Merc isn't really a subtle soldier, and Liam is far too ex-cop. Cora is just a whiny Asariboo that, despite being MUH HUNTRESS, far from acts like a Commando should.

Moving to Andromeda changed a lot of things in your life. The tasks you worked, the food you ate—even the recycled air smelled different from back home. But some things remained constant. Your morning stretches, the need for reports, and your nightly routine with Sara. As you finish up another weekly report for Addison, gently rubbing rubbing your eyes from the repetitive work, Sara's tireless sounds of play leak from the curtain dividing the room. Nothing could bring her down. You stand up, and flexing your legs, walk over to the library, tapping your finger along the book spines. Of all the things Dad decided to bring, he decided to spend space on books for Sara.

You have to admit, you would have done the same. Touching a familiar title, you draw it from the shelves, and walk over to the curtain, gently drawing it back. Sara was lying on the floor, her hands guiding a shuttle model on some imaginary flight plan only she knew. Countless numbers tumbled out of her mouth, a neverending babble that was somehow therapeutic for her, despite her age. As she guided the shuttle to the ground, making a wooshing sound on her mouth, you decide to step in, coughing gently to get her attention. Her head shifts slightly your way, but otherwise remains focused on the toy shuttle.

“Sara, do you know what time it is?”

“10:53:58 p.m.” She says absentmindedly. You shake your head, but smile.

“And what does that mean?”

“Time for bed. Wait, are you going to read me a bedtime story?” She turns excitedly, and drops the toy shuttle as she heads to her bed, bouncing up and down on the mattress. “Bedtime story! Bedtime story!” She claps her hands in excitement, and you settle beside her on the bed, relaxing as she leans on your shoulder, sighing contentedly. Clearing your throat, you begin.

“And so the Hanar slept soundly, in the middle of the town. But then, he felt a tug...and awoke to find out his hat was gone!” In a flash, you grab the helmet, and throw it under a pillow. Sara giggles slightly, and then begins to yawn loudly.

“Oh my!” She exclaims, and begins to tap the top of her head. “My hat is gone. I loved my hat!” Sara puts her hand on her brow, and stomps around the room before coming back to you. “Mr. Elcor, have you seen my hat?”

“Confused concern. I have not seen your hat.”

“Well, thanks anyway.” Pouting, Sara stalks away before coming back to you. “Mr. Vorcha, have you seen my hat?”

“Hss, I haven't. Go away!”

“Okay, you meanie.” Blowing her tongue at you, Sara walks around around one last time, and you take the moment to slam the helmet on your head before she comes back. “Mr. Volus, have you seen my hat?”

You inhale audibly, and huff with every word. “No. This hat is mine. Why are you asking questions. Go away.”

“How do I know you mean it?” Crossing your arms questioningly, Sara pauses before throwing off the helmet and diving under the sheets, wiggling her head to a comfortable spot on the pillows.

“Please, Scott. Just one more. You know which one.” Her eyes go soft, and she looks at you in a way that just tears at your heartstrings.

“Alright.” You concede, and she squeals in excitement before quickly cutting herself off. Drawing the blankets over her mouth, she looks at you expectantly. You sit next to her, and begin stroking her head gently as you start to talk.

“Once upon a time, there was a little ugly duckling. Born in the middle of April, this duckling was a dark, dark grey when everyone else was a bright, beautiful yellow.” You look down at Sara, and her blue eyes stare back at yours, hanging on your every word.
