I disagree with the Cortana part since, not only was she dying, she had also just spent 4 years sitting idle in space by herself, of course she wasn't going to be the same. Chief was also done well since they made all his characterization an extension of the player needing to complete the game.

I wouldn't call the game inconsistent or incoherent so much as I would call it badly executed. If you ripped out the Librarians exposition and changed the villain it would work a lot better. There was good material weighed down by too much bad/unnecessary stuff that got in the way.

My point is that I don't see this treatment being given to other maps in other games. Most of us know or think Halo 4 is trash to some degree. You don't have to try to beautify its maps just to make them look better than they are. Take a picture of the actual playable map like you do with all other maps from all other games. Listen. I don't have a preference towards any Halo game to the extent that I'm going subliminally damage control maps you might deem to be bad by posting certain kinds of pictured of them.
When I take a picture of any map, I try to get a good view that exemplifies the best the map has to offer. I want people to see the picture and immidiately recognize what map it is. In the case of skyline and a few others, I feel that the most memerable way to convey that image is through an image of a part of the map that isn't actually playable. I feel that it's the map's most striking feature. Hell, the map is even named "Skyline". It's named after this specific feature.
There's been a few other times where I haven't even used a picture of the actual map at all and have instead used art design of the map (Reach's "solitary" comes to mind) because I felt those pictures better demonstrated the immidiate presence of the map better than any screenshot I could find/take could.
I hope this explanation helps quell your thoughts of any supposed "bias" I might have.

To be fair you can play ODST a lot of ways. You can stealth it up and try to avoid detection, you can go all out, you can search for vehicles, you can mix it up. The only real difference between ODST and mainseries is that you're small and have stamina instead of shields, which is retarded because they work the same way. It plays well but a shame they didn't come up with a better way to make it feel 'different'

Bigger problem is that there's nothing to do in the night time 'hub' area. It's big and open which makes you want to explore it but has little to offer other than spare grenades, shotguns and shaniqua's podcast. I actually disagree with a lot of the implications you're making but I can see common ground on the idea that they didn't do enough different. For instance, you have less health. But all plasma pistols have been replaced with brute varients, which deal more damage, so that ends up helping you out a lot.

If that's true, that's good at least. That leaves the UNSC+SoS vs Cortana. I really hope the Banished get in on the Halo 6 action. I want to see the Brutes return. I want to see the brute-ified new and old weapons and vehicles like in HW2. I want to see the races interacting beyond just fighting each other. Do something with that Needlerhog that got whipped up. Show them sharing and developing technologies and working together. Like SoS using tweaked DMR's, or the Banished making their own shotguns since Brutes seem to have a fascination with them. It's fine for there to be more than one, but it's not fine for any more of them to pose a serious threat after the defeat of the storm. It just doesn't make sense for there to be that many extra ships out there because ideally Truth would have taken the vast majority of what he had at his disposal when he made his push for the Ark.

In all likelihood though Cortana will unite the remaining remnants together and use them as troops. That will probably be the lore justification for there being constant covies in 6's campaign.

Between the great schism, the flood consuming high charity, and the second assault on Earth which was literally the endgame for the entire purpose of the covenant, I can't imagine there were many ships docking around on lesser missions. I mean, this was it. This was the great journey. Nothing else mattered.

Merg Vol's faction had only one assault carrier.
Jul's storm had a fleet, but it was small enough that the entirety of it needed to usually be in the same place at once. The Infinity, despite being damaged, was able to fend it all of by itself.
The Banished have one supercarrier and maybe one of two cruisers.

TL;DR all of these factions are nothing but terrorist groups. None of them can take the UNSC head on, and very few of them remain. Of course, they'll likely all be unified under Cortana.

Not him but no, 343 said "simple story", I don't want a spin off game I didn't waste my time playing as part of the main storyline, 343 can finish Halo Wars 2 story in the DLC. Since there are several Covenant remnant factions I can see Cortana bringing them all together to fight on the side of the created, that way we can still fight Covenant in Halo 6. I hope Anders is the only character from Halo Wars 2 that appears in this game. I also hope anything from Halo Wars 2 regarding its story remains minimal.

343 should wrap up the reclaimed saga and maybe even Chief's story so we can find some firm ground for a fresh new starting point going forward.
