>What the fuck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Middens, Underrail, Machinarium, DashBored, Vampire of the Sands, Braid, Limbo, Axiom Verge, Guacamelee, The Desolate Hope, Burrito Galaxy, Gone Home, Stardew Valley, etc. as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Rayman, Pillars Of Eternity, Rise Of Nations, and Valkyria Chronicles.

Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in /vg/), however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

>How can I contribute?
All we need right now is people to talk about their loved indie and miscellaneous games, so don't be afraid to post, bump and reply your fellow anons. Also we're looking for anons to make new pastebins/wikis/images and update the ones already made. And please give lots of feel, love, kind and nice to everyone, except namefags. And be sure to make a new thread if nobody else does.

Anyone else pick this up? Desync, basically bulletstorm in neon 90s aesthetic.

I just got it on a whim, it's pretty cool so far, though it can be pretty vague in the upgrades/hub area. If anyone else got it and has some tips, it'd be appreciated.

That is where you are wrong.

They can't and won't spend 7 years on the expansion, but Styg seems to like taking things slow and safe. For a good while now they've been in a financial position where a less level-headed lead developer might've gone on a hiring binge to grow his team to try and push out new content fast. But as I said, they're taking growth slowly and steadily. They're financially set for a long time even if Underrail sales stopped altogether.

Or like the other anon already said, trust them on this one.

>Didn't get a chance to go through all the trivia questions so you'll find lots of weirdly-structured sentences there.
This sounds like a serious issue for such a text heavy game.
>>
>>172341091

Eh, it's not so much that the questions are wrong or plain unreadable, you'll just be able to tell quite a few of the questions were written by a non-native English proficient person.
>>
well i don't really know if I'd say I'm disappointed with gungeon, but it's certainly got issues.

the main one being that you're almost punished for using anything but infinite ammo stock on mooks since ammo is non-existant

even when I only use other weapons solely on bosses I ran out because drops are exceedingly rare and ammo drops are only a chance on that

there's also that almost every upgrade is locked in a chest, and again the drop system is pretty shit
>>
>>172342130
For Ammo, you can massively up Ammo chances by gathering Curse (if the game gives it to you, Curse Pots are a blessing)
But yeah, the game has some serious problems relating to fun factor on most runs, which just feel like horrid drags.
>>
>>172342130
There's some nuance to getting the pulls you want. Also ammo isn't as nonexistent as you think it is.

You're definitely gonna want to use your infinite ammo stock a lot, mainly in the first couple floors.

Game rewards you for playing well. The longer you go without getting hit, the more drops you'll see. Every time you clear a room there is a Room Clear Bonus chance, which can be a chest or any pickup (including ammo). This chance is raised by coolness. There is ALSO an Ammo Drop chance, raised by both your Curse and the percentage of ammo missing from all your finite guns. This means that ammo is, in fact, the only pickup you can actually roll TWO of on a room clear, and it also means that playing fast and loose with ammo will reward you more often than not. Empty guns you don't plan on using. Only save a few key guns full for bosses, otherwise freely use ammo on your other guns to increase the chance of finding ammo for the guns that do matter.

Don't pickup any keys on a floor until you've been to the shop to maximize possible key spawns. The shop will always have at least one key for you if you haven't picked up a key yet when you enter. Playing smart with keys will allow you to open most chests, most runs. Floor 1 you sometimes need to skip the chests so you can go to the Oubliette, but that's pretty much it. The two "main" chests per floor with their own rooms will always be a Gun and an Item respectively, use this knowledge to weigh your keys e.g. "I just got a passive from this red chest so I don't really care about cracking open that blue chest for a guaranteed gun."

Always search for secret rooms.

TL;DR if your runs are shit you're probably getting hit just as a manner of course. Try focusing on clearing multiple rooms or even entire floors without taking a single hit and see what falls into your lap.

>>
>>172343632
On the one hand I agree with you on it being a bit frustrating. I've definitely had those runs. On the other hand I consider passives unquestionably the most valuable category of items in the game, since they're the only ones that stack infinitely, have no opportunity cost, and apply at all times rather than when you have them "out" like guns or actives). They're massively game-changing and I'm always playing to maximize my chance of finding them. In light of all that, having actives mixed in with their pool is a somewhat understandable limiting factor.

While your post is very constructive, I can't help but read it and think it says:
>It's okay to have the most fun part of the game inhibited with garbage nobody wants
Given the option, I'd much rather have Actives and Guns mixed than Passives for the reason you just posted. A Guaranteed Passive from a Chest (if you win the coin flip figuring out which is which, since they're not labelled) is about a hundred times better than a guaranteed gun from a chest if you win said prior coin flip.

>>
>>172344163
No, because then power spikes are too consistent, too frequent, and the game breaks too quickly and too easily. As fun as getting broken OP shit is, this game's primary focus is on the experience of getting more skilled, not on getting runs that trivialize the enemies. Passives are far too reliably strong to make so guaranteed instead of having to strive for them - I disagree with this sort of idea for the same reason I disagree with people who think you should automatically get an extra heart or damage boost for clearing each boss. It's not supposed to be a linear progression where you definitely get objectively stronger every single floor, but by the time you get to the end, you'll almost always have a broken run in some facet. There's more than enough passives to go around, even with the current setup.

God, I had one recent Forge run, the only thing I had going for me was Casey and like 3 passives, cause 0 key drops the whole way down.
The problem is that Casey is an absolutely abhorrent Bossing weapon (if you wanna do real damage, it's great for knocking back shots.)
So I'd wipe each room, be sad at no key drops, then fight the Boss with all my other guns.

It's like trying to play isaac without ever getting any upgrades and honestly I might stop playing it because of that. Isaac's item pool is bloated to shit but you'll usually at least get 1-2 semi decent things per floor.

>>172348306
There's this hugely prevalent misconception that a controller is always better for a lot of games than KB+M. Particularly platformers and older more traditional type games.
There isn't a shred of truth in this.
The only instances in which a controller is better, is when you need analogue input, be it in a subtly angled direction (joystick direction that isn't cardinal/diagonal), or a subtly attenuated input strength (joystick distance from center that isn't zero or max).
If none of this matters, then a KB will always be better because of the input response time:
When changing direction to an opposing one on a controller joystick, the joystick has to travel the intervening distance, which causes both a time delay, and the chance that you'll end up slightly outside the direction you were aiming for.
With a keyboard, the input response is instant and boolean, directions and all. Much tighter control (even if some games take some getting used to).

DISCLAIMER: This isn't always noticeable, and playing with a controller has a really nice feel to it too. I love playing with a controller. (Please don't curse me)

However, in Rain World, the UP direction is really important for instance. You don't want to use a joystick (or actually even a d-pad) for that if you can avoid it.

for all these reasons I am still right and your source here is potentially wrong (though I truly doubt he is). Even if not getting hit only helps you in the ways he listed, it still results in more drops. I'm still hugely skeptical on anything I can't reliably reproduce until I see hard data from the game files. All I know is not getting hit is the single most valuable thing you can do for your gameplay and regardless of the specifics you're gonna see a powerful return on any floor you clear without getting hit. It should be your top priority. Second priority is being able to perfect bosses with your starter pistol, especially on the first couple floors. You have to play consistently to become a boosted animal.

I am but like come the fuck on dude, it's idiotic to think of anything in the game as NOT being drops. It's all RNG. It's all "what did the game roll in the collection of slots it has to roll for me." Like guess the fuck what, if my Mourning Star happens to show up in a shop instead of a chest it's still my Mourning Star and the Gungeon still dropped it for me, they just made me collect on it with my casing drops instead of my keys. You can't sit here and rationalize away the different very real ways the game has to throw shit at you. Part of being good at the game is being good at pulling the most from all your pools as a whole, not arbitrarily deciding "well I'm gonna get MY drops from this pool because that other pool seems inconvenient to play toward." It's all there and it's all at your disposal, so there's no reason to hold it against the Gungeon for throwing something good at you in a shop instead of a chest, when it DID in fact throw something good at you that you could have prepared to collect.

>>172357935

Huh. Maybe I need to pay more attention.
>>
Something that is cool about Battle Bros is that sometimes there are non-hostile parties roaming the countryside. If you get into a battle, if these other parties are nearby, they will also show up in the battle.

In one scenario, I went to a tomb to fight some undead. There was a group of bandits nearby, so they got included in the battle too. I just fell back, let the bandits and skeletons fight each other, and mopped up whoever remained.

In another one, I got my caravan attacked by bandits while some peasants were nearby, so they helped fight too. They weren't particularly strong, but they helped soak up some hits, ensuring I came out of the battle (relatively) unscathed.

Dark Souls is the worst thing to happen to video games. Dew-drinking kiddies think that it's the quintessential example of a hard game, they think that it's "fair", and mostly egregiously they think it's fun. Video games are going extinct.

I don't get why do people hate on Dead cat
Heart containers are garbage most of the time unless you have good regen/healing pickups, otherwise they just reduce the amount of soul/black hearts you can have
Plus dead cat gives you 9 lives AND is a part of Guppy set, which gives you flying and notable damage boost through flies

In Battle Bros, I shat a brick when I saw a monster ate one of my best guys in a single bite. There were these weird ghoul like creatures who could eat the corpses of their slain brethren to recover HP and morale (to compensate for this, they're rather squishy.)

Thankfully, it turns out if you kill them quick enough, you can save you guy from getting digested.

Why isnt it hard, because whenever you die you only lose 5-10 minutes of progress and souls you can easily farm 90% of the time?

I can see why people prefer that to wasting a full hour of your life like in Monster Hunter, or the complete decimation a realistic playthrough of Mount n Blade can give you. I'd pick those two over Souls anyday.
>>
>>172389990
It's only bad if you're not good at it. ;^)

Also a lot of these reviewers keep screaming about deaths being unavoidable when there's several predators on screen. That's simply not true most of the time. Unless I misinterpreted the wiki, active items recharge based off of how much damage you deal to enemies, and the required amount of damage to recharge items increases every floor.
>>
>>172391820
Uhhhh...yeah. Playing the game makes your cooldowns come back, and since enemy health scales, so does the damage requirement. Y'know, maintaining roughly the same ratio of enemies killed to cooldown regained. I'm sorry, I thought you might have a legitimate complaint. you are pretty much saying that yes. "it isn't isaac's model and I don't understand it so this is the worst roguelite"

>this has nothing to do with enemy health
>actives are recharged by damage dealt
>more enemy health = more damage dealt per room
>more damage dealt per room = more frequent active item cooldowns

Your complaint here literally equates to "They counterbalanced so the game wouldn't automatically make things easier for me so it's terrible." Actives retain roughly the same cooldown feel throughout a run. Your power and the enemies' health scale and the increased damage required for the cooldown compensates for those.

Generally, I share >>172421651's opinion about the topic, but >>172422191's is a valid one too. Why? Because they don't separate business and everything else, which is just unprofessional.

Why do most of these new-wave devs feel they should air out their opinion on any given topic? Especially sensitive ones like politics or religion? Don't they feel the obvious risk in these moves?

Voting with your money is all about support. Not just products but people and tendencies too. If you bring other variables to this equation than your game you brought the shit on yourself.
>>
>>172423756
These people do not see a split between public and private life. They don't suffer any punishment for their actions on social media so they don't know any better. When they post this shit on social media they get an immediate pat on the back from signalers liking and following them for it. And then you have people who say "who cares, just buy the games you want" who ignore the consequences of giving money to people like this.

It's a good example of putting your current enjoyment ahead of your future enjoyment. If the entire Indie scene is taken over by these people then they will start forcing out any one who doesn't make walking sims about mixed race Muslim transgender midgets. There goes your neat indie titles as the community will no longer be able to support people who aren't that way inclined.

It also allows you to give more money to good developers if you pass up on bad developers. That extra $5-10 can be a donation for a really cool dev who doesn't post shit all over Twitter. They start getting big, they get popular and then others copy them to start making the same kind of cash which then improves the community.

Informed customers make for better communities, as such it seems wise to ask for people who act in ways I like to build a community that I also like.

That's actually a pretty bid deal if it's really true, and really makes it into the game. Are there even any isometric RPGs with vehicles or mounts? Fallout 2 had the Highwayman, but that was not really ridable, only a really cool fast travel option.

So at worst it could be something Fallout already did but still cool, at best this could be something entirely new.

While replaying Lisa, I hit up the neighborhood. Something I noticed was that there were a few red skulls around, which an NPC had noted meant that Rando's solders had took over. Do you think they explored this place at some point?

Also, it's noticeable that this place still has green grass and living trees, in contrast to practically everywhere else being desert.

How long ago do you think this community went to the dogs? The scientist's dead body as well as the woman's from the joy lab seems pretty "fresh." It also seems weird for people to be dressing up like scientists and other "normal" people while the rest of Olathe ran around looking all Mad Max. Did regular Olathians ever interact with this community of scientists? The only thing separating these guys from the rest of Olathe was a short walk though a cave.

Why is this "this providing a service has to match my beliefs" only apply to video games? Do you care if the guy who makes your pizza liked Trump or Hillary? The bus driver? The guy who made your shirt? The person who installs cable and internet?

If you want to live in a world where your money only goes to people who believe what you do, you'd probably have to set up some sort of enclave of people with similar beliefs like the Amish do.

It seems like this community endured for some time after the white flash, since the scientist mentions the "same sky."

The mention of plastic lends some credence to the theory that Olathe is actually isolated from the rest of the world somehow and is/was part of an experiment, since some scientists had the option to leave.

Hint: game developers (at least their leaders / PR and /or Community Managers) are public figures, even if in the limited sense of the word. All the other examples you brought up are not. As for the rest of your post, it builds on a false interpretation of what I (we) wrote.

His beliefs are exactly as relevant to his service as much as he brings to it. That's the point. Nobody gives a fuck about what you think about certain issues or who you believe in, but if you push it to other's face (either directly or indirectly related to your service) it'll have an effect.

And you'll have to deal with the consequences, even if it happens on a personal account. It's not a coincidence there's an entire industry built on handling public images, because it's directly linked to your business success. See also >>172424876 post for other arguments on the topic.

You know, I always thought this scene was kind of silly. On previous playthroughs, I would always go back and save, but this makes it so the rain disappears when you come back, so when I got to the dramatic scene with Buddy's basic, it looked like there was lightening happening in a clear sunny day.

I tried it without going back to save, and now it makes a little more sense as to why there is lightening. I still think the way the lightening clashes with the pixel art style of the rest of the game ruins the scene though. Would have been better if there was just a flash to simulate the lightening and then just the sound of thunder.

Isnt that the point of indie games. Maybe not over political ideology, but being independent gives you the freedom to lose money by alienating those who have a conflicting ideology on game design, fun, etc., and pander to those that think like you to best make a product you would like, instead of an inclusive commercial product.

Currently setting up my game for a long running game of Out Of The Park Baseball 2016.

This is a very fun game, it's less personal on a player to player management basis than a game like Football Manager but I think the actual management aspects of being a general manager are more fun. Drafting is also super fun. I'm playing in commissioner mode so I can alter stuff in the game and have complete control in tinkering the simulation.

We'll see if General Manager Wojak Feelsman can handle his first job as the general manager of the Cleveland Dirty Apes. His owner THE JEWS is a stingy owner that literally only cares about money. At least his expectations are low of Wojak, with the upcoming draft we'll see if he can pull a team together.

Mkay, decent. Not thinking you saw any chests past Gungeon Proper concerns me though. Are you not fully clearing every single floor? Every floor has two dedicated chest rooms guaranteed, one of which will contain a gun, the other of which will contain a passive or active item. If you haven't seen the entire floor you're on, it is almost never worth it to leave early just because you found the exit. The only floors with rooms worth skipping are 5 and 6. Are you checking for secret rooms?

I have garbage memory and was wrong. I had a green and a blue chest on 4, though from my skimming of the footage of 3 I didn't see any. I felt like I wasn't seeing any in game either but I'm assuming I did and just forgot.

I go through the whole floor yea, but I don't usually check for secret rooms since you can't even reveal them without using ammo.
>>
i looked again and it was the black one and a green one

>>172338450
Played it a bit. Quite liked how it developed into giving me more options until I hit second boss. Then I was like - fuck it. Maybe if animations were better or just enemy melee attacks more obvious than this odd stutter.

I'll pick it up again if that stuff gets better. Otherwise it really puts an awful breaks on my enjoyment from the game.
>>
>>172466556
>from my skimming of the footage of 3 I didn't see any
I mean...again, there are two chests guaranteed every single floor. They have their own dedicated rooms, one is a gun, one is a not-gun. If you didn't see any chests on Floor 3 it could only be from not clearing the full floor. If you just didn't remember seeing them cool, I just want to make sure you're playing your runs to their potential.

Ammo is copious enough to be worth using to check for secret rooms. Secret rooms will contain some of your biggest boons. Pick a shitty gun and drop 2 ammo per vacant wall in chest rooms, exit rooms, and dead end rooms every time. You won't miss the 2-8 ammo per room, promise. If you haven't found a secret room after checking all of those, go use a blank in the shop. This is the most basic way to start incorporating secret rooms into your runs. Start with it, and as you start seeing how often they help you you'll start searching more than just those rooms.

Life pro tip: be skeptical of any answer that equates to "No" with no further information. Generally speaking, people would rather assume they'd know if there was something than admit they don't know if there is.

The information we do have is a bit sketchy, so don't take anything here as gospel, but trends that have been noticed:
-mentally draw a box around the completed map and consider this the border. secret rooms will almost never spawn on or past the border, so look for empty spaces within the box.
-secret rooms seem to "prefer" generating further away from the Entrance. Don't use this as a reason to not check near the entrance, but you'll usually find it faster if you start from as far away as possible and work your way back.
-as mentioned, secret rooms love to spawn off of chest rooms, Exit rooms, dead end rooms, and shops.
-rooms have dedicated spots their doors can attach at. if you see a familiar room layout that doesn't have a door connected at a spot you're used to seeing one, get suspicious.
-this is the sketchiest premise I work off of, but secret rooms seem to prefer being either uncrowded or completely surrounded. For instance, you don't usually see them nestled up against two rooms with the other two sides open. Instead, the secret room will usually either be somewhere it can "stick out" with some room to breathe, or will be crammed somewhere in the middle of the map, surrounded on all sides.
-floors can have two secret rooms

>again, not saying any of this is gospel or as factual as it probably could be but it's a good framework

>>172473060
Totally random as far as I know, aside from floors with guaranteed secret rooms like Keep, Abbey, and Hell. I'm usually content finding just one and moving on, but will check any further "obvious" spots I can see.

BASELESS CONJECTURE AHEAD:
I feel like there is a system differentiating "secret" and "super secret" rooms, "super secret" ones being the ones that seem to defy convention by being either completely surrounded on all sides, or by being connected to less preferred rooms. When I've seen two secret rooms on a floor, one of them nearly always seems to be distinctly more "tucked away" than the other. This could, of course, simply be a consequence of having finite space within which to spawn secret rooms.
SERIOUSLY THOUGH I JUST PLAY THIS GAME A LOT AND MAKE SHIT UP DO NOT START TELLING YOUR FRIENDS THIS IS HOW THE GAME WORKS.

No, not really. But it can be annoying losing a ton of map progress if you ventured out too far for too long.

Yes. Food is variable, so you have to actually hunt, you can't just check the same spots over and over and you ideally wanna fill your bar, which is anywhere from 3 to 7 food so you have excess. yea so far it seems to be one of the best passives in the game
>>
>>172481093
It's a damn shame you've got that impression. I consider the vast majority of passives better than it, especially in the absence of synergies. The only thing that keeps me from considering the FMJ complete garbage is the fact that it will actually protect you in a couple of situations blanks normally couldn't. Otherwise it's just an item that, instead of benefiting you in any way, provides a crutch so you can ignore one of the essential skills required to be good. I'll take a flat damage boost over an auto-blank and hit Q my damn self any day of the week.

>>172487418
gross oversimplification.
FMJ is an item that literally removes the blanking mechanic from your hands. It doesn't give you more damage, it doesn't change your shots. It doesn't give you more health, an extra life, or an extra hand shooting for you. It doesn't give you more stats. What I'm saying is it does not affect the vertical power of your run, something most passives certainly do. Instead it takes a mechanic you control, and makes you not control it instead.

Yeah, true. I kind of forgot about the Dreadnaught, but fair point.

The interesting thing about the jet ski though is that if it offers free roam on water, is that going to be only a tool for exploration, or are we going to get water combat as well? I can already imagine riding through an area with basically Deep Sea Worms.

What happens if the jet ski runs out of juice while you are still riding it? This is probably what the new "Recharge Object" function of batteries is for, but could you potentially fuck yourself into a corner where you are out of batteries and with no way to reach land? Swimming skill when?

I'm wondering about this as well. It would require quite a lot of new sprites and melee would probably look weird so I don't know if it's feasible. But who knows.

>What happens if the jet ski runs out of juice while you are still riding it? This is probably what the new "Recharge Object" function of batteries is for
That would make a lot of sense.

>but could you potentially fuck yourself into a corner where you are out of batteries and with no way to reach land?
Only time will tell. Maybe you just drown and die. Or maybe you just wake up at the riverside
or something. Or they won't need batteries at all and the "recharge object" is for something else.

Only time will tell. It's not even confirmed yet, maybe the idea will get scrapped, like the shield rechargers from alpha.

They instantly break upon coming into contact with explosions.
There's never more than 1 in a shop, rarely even 1 nowadays.
Glass Shrines take up your Shrine slot on a given floor and are overly common, meaning I never see good Shrines cause of them.
They drop semi-regularly from post-room. Overall, they are a nice addition, since they take like 20-40 shots.

Well, in the end, it's a system designed by Valve, and yes, Valve didn't put much effort into curating it. They wanted to make a self-moderating system. It turned out that the system they have designed is prone to abuse and people abused it. Hell, even Steam tags aren't very useful, because it's poorly moderated and prone to abuse too.

But I kinda feel second-hand shame for this crap, because Greenlight was curated by Steam users.

Not so fast, friend. Obsidian practically confirmed an upcoming Tyranny DLC (no, not for you, the potential customer, 'cause who are you anyway?) and I doubt this is the one.

Not only they avoid the concrete term throughout the announcement, but there's the highlighted part as well. I'd be surprised if they wouldn't announce a proper DLC in April.

>>172578435
Really? How long did it take to complete it? I really wanted to love PoE but it bored me. Though I plan to restart it, even a Youtube gameplay is enough to crush my enthusiasm.

As for Tyranny, there was nothing sympathetic in it from the pre-release materials. I'm glad I gave it a shot, my only playthrough was surprisingly (albeit admittedly lightweight) fun.

I am serching for a game - 2d platformer in development(at least it was 2 years ago) where you play as some kind of futuristic cat simillar to samurai pizza cat
but with modern graphycs. You shoot enemies and proceed to the next levels. Anyone knows what I am talking about?
I can't find it.

>>
>>172338450
It looks good at first but the gameplay is mediocre and the bosses are bullshit. Lots of bad game design all over that game that will never be mentioned because the game hides behind its A E S T H E T I C
>>
>>172629983
Read up the negative reviews.

Game just mimics old NES games poorly, copying bad design & forcing technical issues that should be non-existent on PC. Respawning enemies, weird hitboxes, clunky controls. It's "nintendo hard" in a bad way.

Plus most of the positive reviews come from people who couldn't actually finish the game, some of them have only 1-2 levels beaten, because the game is just too unfun to continue playing, people are just jizzing over it because "it's so retro" and it's cheap.
>>
>>172585104
>Really? How long did it take to complete it?
About 60 hours. Keep in mind this was before White March, so it's going to be longer and I heard the expansion is much better than the base game.

Pretty much the only reason I managed to finish it twice is that I really liked the gun mechanics, really immersive how all the guns take a really long time to reload but hit like a truck.

My second run was a custom party of 6 aumauas (racial +1 weapon slot) equipped with 3 pistols and one arquebus each, for a total of 24 shots before reloading. It was pretty fun to open fights with a volley from 6 arquebuses.

There was some generic zombie fighting third passion shooter that got kickstarted and is probably vaporware. It wasn't that remarkable other then the main artist and character designer being a good loli artist, and the game was a bunch of kids fighting zombie kids in a school. I wish I remembered the title

It's a really beautiful game with some neat design choices, but also some bafflingly bad ones. The whole system of needing karma at a certain level to open passages, but also losing karma if you die, just results in periods where you'll have to grind food and hibernate which isn't really interesting at all. I don't mind dying repeatedly and losing progress until I get good enough at an area and its potential threats to move on, but I do mind when that is layered onto a tedious gameplay mechanics that neither respects the players' time nor teaches them anything of value.
>>
>>172663420
To add to that,
>Resource rotation also means that you can't just keep going back to the same spots to feed, you have to actually hunt down food,
>which isn't hard if you can get the Karma ball rolling and keep moving through some areas,
>but if you get bogged down, it becomes exceptionally difficult
>Game ends up shitting all over me and losing me all my Karma ranks from Survivor to 2 the other day in Industrial
>Have to scour all of Industrial's levels just for enough food to get up to whatever the rank below Fruit is
>Then a bit more for the trip out to the hab right before the Karma Gate leading to the swamp

>>
>>172716632
Yea he was a lot less threatening then I expected. I went to abbey of the true gun for the achievement. I didn't really expect to survive, but I should have lived longer, I just switched to the wrong weapon.

I had purposefully sat in 4 curse pots earlier trying to get him, and I think I bought something from her before, so shouldn't that have "only" been 9?
>>
>>172716936
Nope, that's 8.5. It doesn't round. So you had at least 1.5 Curse from something else, like Casey.

Also, Lord of the Jammed doesn't instantly despawn if you drop below 10 Curse. He continues following for the duration of that floor, but won't spawn on the next unless you go above 10 again.

I'm afraid you misunderstood the situation. The guy who wrote this note does all the programming from new features to gameplay balance and bug fixing. And he's indeed a workaholic, updates are really frequent.

Imho Panos would be mostly important for certain new features (https://trello.com/b/G0QAyLE6/rock-god-tycoon) and maybe to replace a few older sprites, there's plenty of things to do even in his absence.

I've posted about this game a few days ago, so I might as well do a more through introduction to it.

You start off the game with 5 different girls who have starting stat distributions unique to their personality. Though their starting stats are all different, they can eventually all get high stats through lots of save scumming and private lessons. The girls have stats separate from their grades and can get ill, overworked, lazy, or a combination if you raise a stat too low/high. I recommend that you raise their study stat high because this affects how much they earn from classes and how much they'll work in self-study periods.

You also have to raise charm so that the girl won't piss everyone else off by just sitting next to them. Some girls will refuse to work with another if you place them in the wrong desk. The biggest offender of this is Misa, who has a high study stat but doesn't get any gains at all if you place her in the back of the class. Students can also skip classes, but this can either raise or lower some of their stats.

The kindness and respect stats are directed toward you, the teacher. If you get your kindness stat high, I think she falls in love with you? But getting kindness too low makes her distrust you, while having a respect too low makes her not work in class. Fortunately, when they get too low you can easily raise those stats by using the counseling action, which removes all status effects and changes stats accordingly. You can meet the girls while they're vacationing or working at a job (which is apparently illegal in this game if you're a high schooler, don't ask why) and your responses change how they evaluate you.

You can command a student to things on the weekend, but only a single one. Options here aren't limited to tutoring (which raises the study stat a good amount), you can also let them rest if their stamina drops too low. Myna tends to always have low stamina and will occasionally leave school for illness, but her grades aren't anything to worry about. I recommend that you start with tutoring the problem students first and to obviously save a lot, getting hit with random events that drop their stats is a bitch.

You have the option of choosing your own place to stay during the weekend. If you're tutoring, you should be in the classroom so that it maximizes stat gains. If you choose to go to the suburbs and not tutor, you can meet your students going out to a movie and talk to them. You have 3 conversation options when you talk to them: laid back, friendly, and strict. Strict will raise her study stat, laid back will lower it, I think that friendly is a middle. I don't recommend being laid back all the time because it does a good hit to the study stat.

After this is done, you can give one of the girls a gift, counseling, or guidance. Giving a gift will raise her opinion of you (they don't seem to be disturbed by the fact that their teacher is giving them roses). Guidance can change what she does over the weekend. Counseling removes a status effect and raises/lowers the stat that causes it.

Most status effects are terrible, but the girls can randomly get very attracted to you and work harder when this is in effect. It's not displayed as an ailment, but you can probably tell by the fact that she's blushing around you and stuttering.

Example of a status effect. Myna will always get exhausted by week 2 and will not come to school if it drops too low. To solve this, make her rest on the weekend. This will take time away from focusing on a student to tutor, but it will make sure that she doesn't drop dead at any moment.

Occasionally, you will have standardized testing in your classes at the end of a semester. Getting a high score will increase your evaluation while getting a low one will drop it. Having an evaluation that's too low will automatically give you a game over. Random events where a student is caught working at a store will lower her evaluation and other stats as well, it's recommended that you save often so you don't get hit by these. The test is partially RNG based if I remember correctly, but it's also based on their grades.

Other than the usual tests, you also have to bring them to sports festivals and plays. Nothing will happen if you lose the sports festival, but it does raise your evaluation if you win. I haven't won it very often, so don't take my word on it. The sports festival is also partially RNG based, but you should probably brings Sari or Cyndi to it and not Myna. School plays have you pick a leader to direct the play. If the leader isn't there on the day they work on the play, the play will worsen in quality. The game tells you to pick a leader with high charm, but Cyndi usually has the highest charm and skips class often. Having a successful play raises all of your students' evaluation but raises the play director's evaluation the most.

Why the fuck they made it 9 instead of the # you are allowed to put in a deck is beyond me.

I think some key reseller sites have it for under a dollar because it was in a bunch of bundles a few years ago.
I wouldnt recommend it for over $3. Its not bad but it can get repetitive in long sessions.

There were some posts the other day about the absence of Mario-style gameplay in 2D indie platformers. I thought Uurnog had a little bit of Mario in the way it's all about different objects interacting in unpredictable ways.

I hope they add more levels, game was way too short and easy.

Is there any way to know which chest is the item and which is the gun in gungeon.

Nope and that pisses me off further. What would be so bad about putting gun runes on the walls in the room with the Gun chest?

Sometimes guns can be ok but most actives are dog shit so it's even worse that they share a pool

Guns have their own pool for generated chests.
Passives and Actives share the other chest pool.

Oh I fucked up the wording. I know that passives and actives share a pool, which is why I was lamenting that because actives are usually bad.

The main issue with the ammo drops is that it HEAVILY encourages spamming a single gun.

If ammo drops gave you like, 70% of your current gun's ammo, and 30% of the used ammo of every other gun it would be a better system, after some rate adjustment I think.

So a flat 70% of the max ammo for the gun you're holding, but the 30% of the used ammo of every other gun. It would encourage using your guns a lot more seeing as every box negates 30% of that usage.

Because a fangame for something with a plotline like LISA, that's already wrapped it's story up is fucking Pointless (lol).

I'd much rather do a Yume Nikki fangame even if those are overdone. They're pretty much sandboxes and seem pretty easy to make

Except it leaves so much open for fan interpretation and plot-lines that either bisect the main story or run parallel to it. Olathe is a pretty big place presumably. Nothing wrong with world-building in fan-games so long as it doesn't outright contradict the source material.

Two of those times I had junkan.

Wallmonger is just pure bullet hell but very manageable. He can still get the odd hit on you simply from the sheer volume of crap he spits out though. Not many patterns but they come at you nonstop.

I'm at the point where dying to any of the floor 4 bosses is barely an issue though so it's more about which ones are easier to perfect, which Kill Pillars are once you know their patterns, especially since they reset whenever one dies and the last pillar is very easy to deal with. I probably had some problems with them back when I started too.

Although I haven't played against Non-Challenge mode High Priest and I think he got a bit of a nerf since I played most of my playtime.

KP spend a lot of their time doing the circle move, I think the best way to deal with this is to stand (or be standing when you roll) about a "chess knight" away from them and roll towards them over the bullets. If you roll directly over the bullets "towards" them you end up fairly near the next line.

I've done it a couple of times but it's small enough that you really need the right items or weapons for it, kill them both with the same bullet while they're in a tight formation or so.
