First time player here. The motion controls aren't actually that bad and you can get used to them very quickly.

I think it must be the face that it's only up and down and left and right are controlled with the stock.

That was my first time playing a splatoon game and I had a lot of fun. Went 7-2 throughout the hour with only one disconnect.

Welcome! Yup, sticks for moving and turning your squid around, gyro for aiming. The only downside is it's hard to go back to only having sticks on other games.

It didn't go so well for me. I had a few wins but then I lost match after match. I blame myself for overthinking about the controls, it was easier when I just mashed whatever button I came across. That, or I just got lucky with my teammates. It was my first time to play Splatoon and the motion control had really thrown me off.

In comparison to Splatoon 1 it probably had just about the best square-like map designs so far. Whereas I'd argue that the square ones kind of suffered in comparison to the rectangular ones in Splatoon 1. So it looks like they may have learned something. Though now I wonder what the rectangular maps of Splatoon 2 look like.

The weapons and specials are interesting. As are the small weapon alterations to the old weapons.

Though no gamepad minimap kind of sucks. As does the lack of minigames in between games. That's a real bummer.
But the game really does look neat. I can't wait. I am excited to play more of the Testfire and can't wait to pick it up at launch.

I hope the singleplayer/story is better than the first game. Mostly I hope there is more of it.

I have been messing with it some more and I managed to connect while very far away from the router by going into internet settings and trying to connect manually.
Its as if the switch detects how strong of a signal it needed for that first connection and then never changes it.

Netcode. The entire reason 1 was unfun was that every game you would get lagfucked by japs. Can anyone report on whether or not they fixed that? Because that ruined the original game for me. Motherfuckers that you shoot dozens of times to no effect that then warp behind you and splat. It was fucking infuriating. It was definitely the players, and only the ones with Japanese names oddly enough. Because on the rare moments I'd get a game without any of them it'd be smooth as silk. But that happened so infrequently that I ended up selling the game. It's just not fun to lose due to netcode 70ish percent of the time.
