You might remember from yesterday a certain anon complaining about the grind in EDF2 and contemplating deleting his save file. That was me and I'm so glad I didn't. Just now I got a pair of bloody amazing weapons, the Laser Lance Sigma and Thunder Bow 30, and it's made all the difference. Now I'm able to cruise through most of Hardest with ease, and even do some of Inferno. Having 2400+ HP as Pale Wings helps.

Seriously though, the difficulty in EDF2 jumps like mad in Hardest onwards. It's insane.

That's only true if your HP is like 7000+, then yeah, it just becomes a boring match of attrition since you can tank pretty much any attack.

But the some of the game's enemies are designed in a way that you ARE going to get hit by the occasional stray projectile/laser, especially on open maps like the beach front since there's so little cover. In those cases you DO need at least like 1500 HP to withstand at least some damage.

Weapons have always been far more important than HP in Inferno.

Not to say HP isn't great to have. Ability to take some glancing blows is a godsend. The extra leeway in the midst of chaos is huge, but it's only an upgrade from one-hit wonder to glass cannon.

If you had to choose between having a gazillion HP or top-range weapons with no health, latter's the only sensible option. It's all in the weapons and use of weapons.

Actually, I found those to be some of the easiest with pale wing. the plasma whip is a great weapon for getting enemies close to you to not attack, even if doesn't do damage to them.

Perhaps I generalised too broadly. Beach Front is easy against swarms like ants, saucers, spiders, etc. but horrid against the advanced multi-legged tanks, the one with the death laser. Evading the lasers would require either hiding behind cover or killing them fast enough so they don't get a chance to use that attack.

Oh yeah, I totally agree. Weapon choice becomes a lot more nuanced in the higher difficulties, with proper weapon choice the highest priority in a mission. I like it actually, forces you to try certain weapons and playstyles you're not accustomed to.

Stat items and exp items have been pretty common. You get the experience books during every Lineage fight if you choose to fight them at the recommended level. You can also straight up buy them in the store. Stat items are found in treasure chests, which don't respawn but there's a good number of those chests. I must have gotten at least 5 of each stat item already.

One nice thing is that it feels like you get enough money to actually buy things. Instant recover is actually a viable option now, even if it's still very expensive.

Can't say about those first two but I did enjoy my time with Valkyrie Drive. If you've played Senran Kagura games it's like that but in my opinion plays better. Less characters though. But for the price it's going on in that Amazon sale I think it's very much worth that.

Am I the only one who never really liked gravity rush that much
Even when it was exclusive everyone seemed to praise it for everything, but I just thought the combat and level design just felt like a complete drag. The gravity stuff was kinda fun in a Spiderman 2 way, but there wasn't much to really do with it besides murder innocent civilians

I really liked it and am still very much enjoying 2. Oddly enough, I usually don't like open world games but I guess GR's charm and style won me over in the long run. Plenty of people hype games precisely just for those, as long as the game itself isn't actual POS. And GR is precisely just that. It's got the style, feel, and atmosphere, so people like it despite the lacking gameplay and story. It helps that the game is pretty short too so it doesn't really overstay its welcome.

Disagreed. It was one of the most charming games I've played in years, and one of the first in a long time that I had a huge desire to finish.

The only superhero games I've played are Infamous and some Spider-Man entry, but He was very special for me because of how satisfying it felt to fly around and explore. Combat was simple yet still something you could get good at. Story presentation wasn't the most exciting but there were quite a few memorable moments, and I liked the characters. The remaster was much better overall thanks to the remapped controls.

GR2 is the ideal sequel in my mind. Smoother to control (and stasis field isn't shit anymore), increased enemy variety, combat variety, mission variety, prettier graphics, etc. Camera for some parts was abysmal, though honestly I don't know how you can nail the camera for gameplay like this. As for story, I only wish that the mysterious couple would've made a cameo.
