Having a lot of fun on my new ARC Ludwig's build. Before that I mained STR/Kirk.
There's a few. Kirk and Ludwig's are really nice, but from the DLC the Whirligig and Beast Cutter are god-tier.

On the whole it is much, much laggier. It's like DeS in that there's so much good shit that everything feels OP and duels end in five seconds.

Invaders and cooperators can all heal and can all carry 20+ Vials so invasions can drag on for a while.

Phantom Range isn't as bad as Souls from my experience and there's no backstabs. With top tier gems it's not rare for fights to end in less than 10 hits. It's more fast paced and punishing which can put most people off. I'd prefer it if the connection was easier, there's really only two places you can find lone Hosts normally due to Bell Maidens. Anywhere else would most likely have summons, which is okay if you're a Twink.

It's my favorite of the series, although it gets a lot of flak for being sort of a healfest where everybody has 20 vials, and the matchmaking system ensures you can only invade people who either are alone and also trying to invade, or someone who already has one or two phantoms with them.
The thing with vials is, though, you can parry healing by shooting someone just as they use a vial and it opens them up for a free visceral attack, and even if you can't learn that timing you move so fucking fast and attacks are so fucking quick that you can punish healers by just gluing yourself to their ass as they try to back up. You just gotta learn not to give them an inch.
I've also found that on the whole the community is very nice compared to the other games, which is odd seeing as how everyone jokes about BB being edgy. I've never run into any dedicated gankers and never been taunted after dying.

In all my hours of playing Bloodborne, I've never seen three people grouping up in fight clubs or the Nightmare Frontier with summons to shit on random invaders, I've never had faggots send me hatemail or mocking messages over dumb shit, you don't get killed and have FIVE coordinated memesters who have extensively rehearsed opening up the gesture menu and navigating to point down within a timespan of .03 fucking seconds ready to bazinga you.
Sure, it's not the friendliest online scene out there, but it's a far cry from the regular cancer you get trying to play souls 1 or 3.

Pinwheel is normally my first fight out of the asylum. I kill him with either gravelord sword if I'm making a character that will have the stats to wield it or I get Leeroy to do it for me.

Then I grab the silver serprent ring from totg. Helps to have that early.

At 50 arcane, the only hunter tools worth using are Blacksky Eye, Augur of Ebriatas, Beast Roar, and maybe Messenger's Gift for pvp trickery. Maybe executioner gloves can work just for their stun, but the gloves are inefficient in terms of damage per bullet when compared to BSE. HMLS lightbeams are much more efficient for one bullet than any hunter tool is

I just got the burial blade and fucking hell this thing is cool, is it as devastating as it looks? I haven't upgraded it but I don't have any shards or stones or chunks to do so so I'm gonna have to do a bit of farming. where's the best place to do this? Upper Cathedral or in the hunters nightmare, or maybe even the dungeons? The best one I have are the loran and great isz, but I need materials to open them. once I do this I'm gonna beat the moon presence and start NG+, gonna have the hunters saif and burial blade as my main two for it.

You could probably scratch off five levels between lowering Vit, Arc, and Blt, putting you at 113. Going lower would probably require taking from Arc, mostly because (I'm judging from mugenmonkey) lowering Arc causes less of a decrease in the HMS than lowering Blt for the Chikage. If you're worried about that, your only other option would be lowering Vit and recovering through Runes.
This type of build isn't the easiest, but it's a favorite for FCs.

Jesus, Orphan of Kos was so much fun on my BLT character. The first phase was spent dodging all of his attacks to counter with the Bloodletter and carefully and shooting at him with my Bow Blade. Once the second phase hit, Bow Blade went out the window and it became a mad rush to murder him with my Bloodletter. Knowing his tells made it more fun because his wild attacks and movements were fun to play around. It took me one shot with this character, whereas it took numerous on my first time with him (character was a SKL-leaning quality build). The build up to this was so worth it and I think OoK has cemented himself as one of my favorite bosses now.

That being said, who are your favorite bosses, /bbg/?

5. Micolash (less for the fight and more for the dialogue and ambiance)

Doing an ARC build now with fire Ludwig's.
Just got the Holy Moonlight Sword, and it's kind of underwhelming in comparison, although that could just be because I haven't got many good ARC gems yet.
Anyone got some strengths/weaknesses to help me compare the two? I'm a bit skeptical that the Chinese Bootleg version of the legendary sword ends up actually being the better version.

You'll want Nourishings for HMS, the main game has like only 2 and they're not so great. LHB is better early since you have a bit more gem options and it's not split. But HMS has the better moveset and once you've got the gems for it it'll wreck shit. Also better visceral damage.

Has anyone every done a challenge to beat the game using only the fist of gratia?

I guess it would have to be on NG+ too.

hmls is the most damaging thing in the game per bullet with its tr2s. its a bit faster than the holy blade and has a followup to the charge r2 which will hit for 2500 easily against a backstabbed foe. the transform attacks give amazing hyperarmor as well. if you go full str/skl with 32% thrush gems then untricked will shit out damage against bosses. holy blade is versatile and has great scaling, but its quite slow and reallt borring in comparison

Also forgot to mention, 16/12/50 HMS is a bit underwhelming. You'll want at least 25/12 Str/Skl with it, if you've got points to spare pump Skl till 25. I wouldn't bother with HMS till you've gotten to FRC, Non-root Isz doesn't have Nourishings and pure Arc gems are mostly useful for the beams only.

Summon Damian of Mensis. He'll divert some of the spiders away from you.

Always keep moving. The spiders have no chance of hitting you if you keep moving.

Go towards Rom, smack him a couple of times then move out before he starts to roll or flex. Don't trade too many blows because the spiders will corner you.

Use a faster weapon so you get more hits in.

In the second phase when Rom starts casting spells do everything the same, always be on the move.

The Church got the blood ministration from Ebrietas after tomb explorers randomly found her in the Phthumerian Labyrinths.
She gave the Church/Choir her blood which was then distributed to everyone due to its healing properties.

But somehow this turns people into beasts after a while.

Nah, Beasthood is great. Mostly useless for Arc and Blt builds since you'll usually use converted/blood weapons which aren't affected by Beasthood. Most BL4 runs use a lot of BB Pellets. Go 50/25 Str/Skl for those two weapons. Str/Skl weapons will do insane damage with high Beasthood but you risk taking more damage.

Just for clarification, those two weapons are best as STR/SKL instead of SKL/ARC. The ARC base damage is worthless, and makes ARC investment for them specifically equally worthless. There are no proper SKL/ARC weapons to use with that type of build.
But for a STR build, Beast Cutter is a fun choice. You can also use a bunch of SKL weapons with Heavy Abyssals.

Well, it's more Byrgenwerth found all that shit and the Church came later. And as to whether blood was given willingly is up for debate, too. Regardless, the Church has alien blood and is fucking around with it.

As to why blood turns people into beasts, it's vermin. Those little wriggly insects found in blood that the League stomp are the contamination, the corruption, the source of the uncleanliness. They get in and infest you and mutate you. The silverbeasts have big ass vermin in their guts and the Bloodletting Beast too has a colossal vermin for a head. They're a natural state of the blood, which is ultimately incompatible with mere human beings.

It's kind of 50/50. The fight is a lot like Cleric Beast in the first phase but with more damage and AoE on attacks. 2nd phase is a totally different fight. Some says he's pretty easy, some say he's harder than Orphan.

He has a lot of delayed attacks that are meant to get you on the counterhit if you panic dodge, specifically the three swipe combo which has a lot of tracking, so he can fuck up a lot of people. Those counterhits hit hard, even in NG.

Lower Pthum fatties or snatchers. Layer 3 pre-boss bonus room has a snatcher and layer 4 pre-boss bonus room has a fattie. You don't have to farm mats for story CD's unless you didn't clear out the previous CD or fucked up.

Blue Elixer, kill the Bell Maidens as quick as possible. If a scourge beast or spider gets too close, go for the other maiden. Round up the spiders and rush for the maidens. Kill scourge beasts last. You can probably chuck a blood cocktail somewhere for them but it doesn't work for spiders.

I think so, the elixir is mostly for scourge beasts so you have a better chance at killing the maiden near them. Also if you run past the Host and "hide" to prevent them from going there. That path is pretty dark so most times they'll go down the stairs if they don't see you.

It's unclear from where the initial samples of Old Blood came from. May be Bloodletting Beast. And they were initially discovered by Birgenwerth, the Church split off after discovering miraculous properties of blood and deciding that it must be a holy medium allowing to get closer to Great Ones.

That's just how the Old Blood works. It is yet another magical stand-in for drugs. At first you get cool shit (healing of all diseases and superpowers in Old Blood's case), but it is addictive and has ruinous side effects.
