What the fuck was IS thinking?

Basic D-rank Hand Axes have MT comparable to that of the S-rank tomes and literally tie with that of Thoron.

Short Axes, the B-rank upgrade to Hand Axes, are as strong as Rexbolt, the SS-rank Thunder tome, despite not being one-of-a-kind weaponry just a step below genuine legendary weapons.

The absolute strongest tome in the entire game, Balberith, the SS-rank dark magic tome and a weapon you literally cannot use until the second playthrough, has a MT of 15 and a weight of 15. Tomahawks have a MT of 15 and a weight of 17, but are on units who will almost certainly get enough strength to eliminate weight penalties before you can start using Tomahawks regardless.

Now remember that Balberith isn't even available until playthrough 2. On playthrough 1 (and realistically in general because dark magic is insanely bad in FE10), the strongest magic tome you will actually use is Sanaki's unique Cymbeline tome and it's MT of 13 (and even that only because Sanaki is forced for endgame).

Spears have a MT of 13.

This is ignoring the endgame parade of hilariously bullshit melee weapons, like Alondite being Ragnell except usable by people other than Ike, or the 22 MT 1-2 range Wishblade.

Don't forget how thanks to them being fucked over in statcaps that literally none of the mages can hit the critical 34 speed benchmark needed to actually double anything worth a shit in Endgame.

Another good example how it would kill certain unit's viability is units that already heavily rely on their skills. For example Hana's life and death makes her a glass cannon. Her base stats are not good in comparison to most of the other red swordies. So if it does work like that you could effectively give any higher tiered character life and death and there would be absolutely not point in using her, thus eliminating what small niche she has.

That part really sucks too. The only actually good units I can see possibly being harvested is an extra Hector or Takumi for more Distant/Close Counter users. You also forgot how only the basic Fire/Wind/Thunder/Light tomes can be forged ever, while you can eventually forge Silver Swords/Lances/Axes and if you get insanely lucky with a coin card get forges on par in terms of MT with SS-rank weaponry.

Not the guy you're talking to but Hector plays are just sit and let enemies attack him (when he has Distance Counter and they're not a nonblue mage or a Falchyon). Coming from experience, Hector can't always carry the team with all the reds and nonblue mages running around (in the context of arena). Your Marie can heal Hector so you can keep using Armas but if you're going that route, a Wrys or Lissa is better because of Rehabilitate (but they're maps are done this week and I don't know if we'll be getting the same rotation again). Fae seems like a nice buffer, but a dragon and another green is not so good with all the reds and Julias running around. You ABSOLUTELY NEED a good blue or two or at least some reds to trade blows with other reds so you can keep Hector alive. Odin is Odin. NONE of your units can defend against the hordes of Lucinafags.

Olivia really helps with the dance for more mobility/extra attack (but Olivia's map just finished too).

In your situation, just farm orbs and dont stress about arena that you end up snapping just to roll more shit like I did.

Ive found you can get a pretty sweet memeteam going with Effie/Bartre/Olivia/open. Effie can handle the reds that Bartre has trouble with and both Effie and Bartre really dig the extra attack from Olivia. Bartre has no trouble with blues minus dragons and (to an extent) Robin. Plus you can either smite Bartre over the chasms/mountains/etc with Effie to take out a mage or use Bartre to smite Effie into a chokepoint to make up for her range.

He has 1 less Atk and a brave weapon. He'd actually have more Atk than Sully if they were both using the same weapon by a decent amount. It's a non-issue and he has the benefit of not having a gem weapon forcing him into a single role.

I don't have an Axe user so I wouldn't know. Most Axe users have shit Res so why put them there? If anything an Axe should go in the middle so they just need to tank Red and Robin. If you have 25~ speed you won't get doubled by anyone.

Middle is the spot that touches the water title. That unit can't move forward (right) because of the water unless they fly or something. Top is the corner with Blue and Axe. Bottom is corner with Robin and Lance. Lance can't hit anyone turn 1 and make sure you keep it that way.

I don't know the finer details of what makes the AI choose which units, maybe it has to do with whatever they will do more damage to and not what will kill a unit. For example my Marth could have died after killing Blue mage turn 2 if both Red and Lance attacked him, but Lance chose to attack Cain for 27 damage probably because Marth has higher Def and he wouldn't have done as much damage.
