Extremely high service costs, shit maps with massive open ocean, everyone has high range so getting sighted ensures you get focused and HE or AP spammed to death, torp walls and smoke clouds everywhere, CVs when you find them can simply power through any AA screen and delete you if they want, exposed citadels and awful handling ensure BBs have no fun, the sheer amount of damage make sure CAs have no fun as they get deleted on sight, and DDs have no fun because of the proliferation of Radar.

WR, ship kills and survivability. mannering this per ship would work nicely, would work against the average damage disparity between DDs and CAs for instance, while eliminating damage farming and adding the survivability value is likely one of the better means to measure how much of the kills you got are actualy meaningful.

the only real weird part is that a high survivability with no kills means low contribution, so WR would be more of a consequence of divisioning and being carried.

The idea behind XVM was to allow you, as an intelligent player, to use the additional information to your advantage.
See three blue enemy meds? OK, they'll likely rush to a good position, so you can counter their move and maybe hit them while thy are still moving. Or they'll attempt to spot your team so you can move your light tank into a counter-spot position and outspot them.
See three good heavies? OK, they'll likely push intelligently, position your TD so you can kill them anyway.
Just like the view ranges on your minimap, or teh last known position, or a better setup of player name, tank type and healthbar.

The fact that this turned into every shitlord with a 46% WR in his arty clicking on the 'good' players with 54% WR and a green rating who then compained about getting 'XVM sniped', well, tough luck.
Quite frankly, I wouldn't even need some made up rating. Plain winrate would be enough in most cases.

Problem is, the majority of the playerbase is made up of shitters. And any of the XVM benefits are lost of them, as the battles they now win thanks to grouping with reliable team mates and focusing on unicums are offset by battles where they play worse than usual thanks to being discouraged "unfavorable odds". Ironically, those "unfavorable" battles are the ones that make up the extra +20% on unicum winrates.

Meanwhile, unicums will keep on carrying games, but it will be harder and not as enjoyable since everyone will now try to focus them down.

Overall, XVM just increases toxicity and decreases enjoyment of the game for the entire playerbase, while providing little to no net benefits in the end. Good players will always be good with or without XVM, as shown by the fact that big league WoT players play without XVM even on randoms.

I remember in WOT back when the type 59 came out and everyone was crying about type 59 platoons I got into a game on steppes with two platoons on the enemy team. I told my team they're going to rush through the middle so spread out around the spawn and wait for them. Sure enough they did, and they got caught in a 15 tonk crossfire and evaporated.

In WoT, this is slightly more important for fast tanks, especially certain lights or meds, less important for TDs and least important for heavies and arty, simply because the fast you are the more important it is where you go and how you get there initially.
The really good players just react instantly upon realizing how good or bad someone is, and reposition accordingly, which means tehy oftne end up farming damage even when they are stuck on a shit team instaed of rushing to their doom while their heavies camp behind arty.

WoWS is a lot slower paced, which lowers the value of this early information. You can generally see how good you teammates are simply by looking at their movement after the battle starts.

however, you would generally obtain the same info from simply looking at a player's global winrate, the actual WN8 or WTR or wheatever you choose to look at is little more than e-peen waving.
