My stats drop every time I grind through a new line from t6 to t8 or t9.

The combination of retraining and stock grind jusst reduces performance, which means even ships that are actually good end up as mediocre.

Most of the really hard fails were related to t9 battles with lots of radar and/or good CVs.

Any competent Blyska or Leningrad will fuck you up, the guns are a bad combination of slow turning and low HE damage, the ship itself is rather large, takes fucktons of AP damage from BBs and cruisers and doesn't exactly turn all that well..
The torps are actually great, if you catch a cruiser with AP you can really deal damage, and the hydro is useful even though your smoke is pretty damn short.

All in all, you end up with a ship that is outperformed by the actually relevant DDs.
Maybe it shines if you div up, but those games there were all solo.

tl;dr, ship is mediocre at best, the line needs serious buffs from t5 and up. Won't ever happen of course, because fascist ships can't be good))))))))))

I enjoyed Shiratsuyu more, (and have noticeably higher avg damage with her) though it is relatively easy to kill one if you find and corner her in a Maass. But the 16 torps allow you to just plain kill a BB, in Maass you need a really oblivious baBBie or a staggered launch that kills by flooding.
I absolutely agree, though, German torps are rather good.

Leningrad is just annoying as fuck to fight becasue it has superd ballistics.
Both it and Blyska are really dangerous if they are played by people who know what they are doing.

To be honest anon it sounds like you wouldn't get much out of rerolling aside from the inconvenience of not having any of the botes you like playing, especially if you like higher tiers. People just don't care that much about a few percent difference in winrate, and if people cared enough to actually check your stats then they'd be able to see improvement and your recent performance being better anyway.
If you don't have a reason like wanting to play on another server or something like that then it's really not worth it.

Yes, but that doesn't help when your damage control is complete dogshit and kind of contributed to the problem.

The torpedo from USS Albacore that hit her cracked Taiho's avgas tanks, which were actually under her waterline thanks to the armoring scheme. Poor ventilation and poor damage control basically turned the entire ship into a giant fuel-air bomb and she exploded about six hours after the torpedo hit.

I have no idea what I'm doing in the Donskoi and why I seem to be having a worse time in it than the Chapayev.
The guns seem to do the same damage per salvo but just with a worse reload time and worse dispersion (so quite often even less damage per salvo), while the ship just seems to be a bigger target that handles worse and takes more damage from every shell that hits it, with the only improvements seeming to be the increased range and a heal.
What am I doing wrong in it that's making it worse than the Chapayev?

Looks like you're doing fine. It pretty much works the same as WoT.
Just use free XP on stock grinds, to bypass stuff like hulls and range upgrades that are unpleasant to play without.

What is the purpose of the cut out hull? That isn't belt according to the damage model in game; the belt is internal like Iowa's. There's no immediately discernible purpose to it as far as I can tell, unless it's a weight saving measure?
