I was having so much fun for a little bit when my friends got interested in competitive, but soon enough they started taking it more and more seriously. Now I'm pigeonholed into playing this boring motherfucker.

Rein can be frustrating when you're too pussy to act aggressive, because it's so easy to fuck up and feel like an idiot.
Once you grasp the right amount of rage you can unleash during a game, he's so fucking satisfactory.
If you play aggressive* (ie not retardedly) you can see that you are naturally very impressive and menacing for the enemies and you can make them tilt really fast if you land a couple good charges on them.
I've never made people ragequit more than with Rein. Not a lot, but that was funny to see.

If you just hang around the choke and go "2 steps forward, 3 backwards" you won't have fun.

*Of course I don't mean "charge through the point to certain death once my shield is broken" aggressive.

The actual mechanical aspects of Rein are the main thing I hate, not how effective or not I feel as him.

Though, on that note, that also bothers me. Because sure you can get sick pinz and intimidate enemies if you play right, but at the end of the day your primary function is to stand in the right spot and offer your allies the opportunity to do things. I don't want to play a hero that's dependent in that way.

And even regardless of that, my complaints stand whether I'm the one playing Rein or not. The whole shield battle style permeating almost every moment of every match is miserable, whether I'm the Rein, or I'm a damage dealer whose main priority is almost always "focus Rein's shield"

Stop trying to solo Hog if you can't dodge hook and you can't burst him down. It's a team game, just move with your tank and you should be fine.

Hog is very predictable if you'd actually put yourself in the enemy's shoes instead of mindlessly running to point holding m1.
Hog is the second loudest hero in the game, right behind Reinhardt. You can hear all of his abilities from 3 rooms away, if he jumps around a corner to heal then you can pop in for a few headshot or two and jump out before he hooks you, maybe even bait hook in the process, same applies to his reload, that shit takes forever.

Baiting hook is fairly simple when you're not jumping for no reason. Only spam spacebar when you're within distance to get m1'd to death by him, then just bunnyhop your ass in circles around him. He'll have a hard time hitting you if you're not D.va and you'd be landing way more shots since it takes a certain kind of skill to miss a Roadhog at any distance.

If you can't handle any of that just learn Zarya, Sit behind your main tank, wait for someone to get hooked and bubble them, then collapse on hog and pop your own bubble.
