You are mistaking the NCR for an effort to recreate the United States , which it really isn't. It's a new country that happened to adopt some old world history to base itself on.

They aren't taking what was once part of other states to reform the union, they're just growing their new country. The USA was only the USA because of a bunch of history shit relating to being colonies and being rather different from one another.

^Legit or placebo? FO4 is much more forgiving than NV load order-wise but I was curious to know if having the right grouping for certain types of mods makes a difference in how smooth the game runs. LOOT just rearranges my plugins all over the place after ordering dependencies.

I have it on Survival. Thats the point. I CAN'T do that, but the game expects me to.

In NV the game makes you chase Benny from Goodsprings to The Strip going through towns logically. In F4 you pop out the Vault, get directed to the Minutemen then Mama Murphy just says 'yeah Diamond City see ya'. Then you take a small detour from Diamond to save Nick then its straight to Kellogg. There's no 'I have no clue a, best to explore on my own'.

One of the biggest things with FO4 is knowing how to pace yourself so you don't blow through all the content.

Another good motivation is that you want to be able to have all the resources in the wasteland at your disposal, you want to rack up as much power before you knock on Hell's Gate as possible. This means, first and foremost, making friends. Minutemen, Brotherhood, Railroad, shoot maybe even the folks up in Farharbor or those Raiders up in Nuka World. From everything you know, the Institute has powers ordering on black magic. You need all the guns you can get.

Less the pacing, I love reaching Diamond City/Vault 81 having seen some serious shit and being an experienced wastelander cause it plays into the questlines for Classroom Stories/Piper interview. Its more believing that a pretty prewar housewife could handle the first events of the story (killing a Deathclaw, even getting in and handling the PA, killing a human being like a Raider) that gives me issues, not to mention the survival aspect.

I just need a good back story (which I have with the cop roleplay) and a reason to abandon the NOWNOWNOW Shaun search and explore (which I can handle by gathering forces/exploring for clues).

I guess I might be OK. Until Nuka World, but maybe she'll have a psychotic break.

The Glowing Sea, duh. Just because your Pip-boy magically knows where to go doesn't mean finding Vergil would be easy. Sure, we know to go to the most brightly glowing point, talk to the Children of Atom, and get directed to his cave, but... what?

I mean, you have no indication that the massive glowing crater is anything you should even try and go near. And without the magic waypoint, you are looking for a single cave (with a Deathclaw outside, that might make you miss said cave by avoiding it) in a vast, ruined, highly radioactive hellhole. You can always temporarily leave in failure. The CoE can be how you find him later.

And really, you won't be that powerful or well equipped if you 'rush' the MQ. Leave behind the rusted, half ruined, power armor and go it in your vault suit and with a pipe gun. It's actually pretty rough going. By the time you hit the Institute you will be pretty skilled, likely with a better gun and gear, but you aren't God-Emperor or the Wasteland yet. You can nope out, and do whatever after getting access to the 'tute.

The biggest, though, is already in the dialog with Nick. The SS knows time has passed, just not how much, and that their kid is likely long gone. It isn't til you hear about Kellog that it becomes urgent again. Just take your time going to Diamond City. After all, a strange addict was your source, so not exactly sound reason to rush there.

Bartering and talking are good ways to solve problems, before the revolver of his, named Problem, starts talking.
Because of his earlier career, he is also proficient in first aid, as well as basic explosives.

I think bethesdas main mistake was that they made the game the PC edition of Fallout Shelter... They focused so much on settlements and power armor whereas before they would round out everything to a mediocre degree. Like in skyrim everything is acceptable but nothing is good... in FO4 everything is terrible but gunplay and settlements, gunplay being given to id.

So basically if you want to make anything that isn't a settlement addon you're facing this herculean task of building something virtually from the ground up, whereas in earlier games you were just tweaking what was already there.

To allow replayability and roleplaying one would have to crack open the quests and allow paths and put in minor factions and the like a la NV... But since beth only made the "muh baby, go go go saev babby!" with a scant few extra sidequests you would quite literally have to start rewriting the entire story from the ground up with "dey tuk muh babby" as just one co-equal element of many. If people could actually replay the game they might be inclined to start tweaking things and making it better for their next playthroughs.

It's this kind of self-perpetuating cycle of nobody is having fun so nobody wants to mod so that other people can have fun. In skyrim people were having fun, uninspired fun, but fun... so they had this energy build on itself. A quest tweak here, a perk mod there, a crafting tweak there... Little tweaks that lead to massive projects and there was always something going on.

We're not having fun so the thought of doing a huge overhaul like what I said to the story is exhausting and since nobody cares and nobody is having fun nobody wants to do it. Y'know?

If you've got AMD, its a long, long time bug with drivers. Go to desktop, right click, AMD Radeon settings (you better damn well have Crimson and not the old CatContCentre drivers), click the gaming tab then click the three dots next to Fallout 4 and remove profile.
Restart the game after this and it should work.
Hell, even without doing all that, restarting the game will fix it anyway.

Another idea I had, since I have a mod that lets me make more ammo for it pretty easy, is a Cryolator build, using it and the cryo mines and nades as the main thing, maybe energy weapons as a whole besides (or maybe heavy and explosives and go mad bomber), mad science gone wrong, and then forming a raider kingdom. High charisma to use the intimidate shit since I've never done that, maybe it's be a bit gimmicky but seems like it could be fun, I've heard running the perks to pacify enemies can be kinda fun.

Despite converting raw materials into new structures, everything looks like amateur slapped together rubble from 50 years ago. The economy goes to shit the moment you get a couple purifiers up. Last time I did play FO3, years ago, I went CHA build and remember savescumming a ton for the Moriarty speech check. Isn't that one still a 90% even if you're 10CHA 100Speech, or some bullshit like that?


The NV system is still shitty though. The fact that being 1 point under the threshold is the gameplay equivalent of having no investment in that skill, and that the interface tells you the absolute values is shit for immersion.

The NV system with a +0% to 10% RNG bonus to your skill, so you have some chance if you're not quite naturally at the absolute threshold, along with the interface NOT TELLING YOU THE ACTUAL THRESHOLD, would make it top-tier with no flaws.

Thinking about this a bit, I've realized in NV, I compulsively level my skills to 0 or 5s, because of the skill check system. I don't remember doing that in FO3, but it's second nature to me now in NV, and it must be because of the skill checks system.

tl;dr: the absolute value for skill checks, and the listing of it on the interface, rubs me the wrong way in NV. It's probably the only real gameplay mechanic I dislike about NV.

I did the skills by 5's thing too even in FO3, but that's because I OCD'd out on the skills I was leveling.

I agree FO3 gets shat on a bit much, playing though it again (granted though TTW but wait) I didn't realize how much I did like from it, yeah it had flaws, but it wasn't that bad for Bethesda's first crack at the franchise and is in many, many ways better than their second crack. Even playing it though TTW there were some things I missed, big guns for instance and other skills which why I get why were trimmed from NV, and I get the the STR requirement was there to balance it out but still it was nice having a specialization in 3 and the older games with it, beyond just perks and the strength requirement.

NV system but instead of taking purely your skill points and comparing it with the threshold, have a 0 to 10% RNG "bonus" added to make your final check score. So if you're within 10% of the score check, you have a chance to succeed. Missing textures aren't going to be the result of a conflict, at least with anything I can think of. Mismatched textures, yeah.

And a simple way is to right click on the individual entry that's being overwritten that you don't want overwritten, copy as override, and scroll down to the bottom and make a new plugin for the change.

Shivering Isles made me think that Oblivion being lackluster (though still a good game) was just growing pains after the success of Morrowind and the movement to full voice acting and the engine upgrades. If you don't like DC/don't wanna play FO3 followed by NV, there's really no reason to play with TTW.

IDK if you can continue an in progress save (I'd assume not, plus allot of the mods with special TTW versions would have to be changed out for the NV only versions and would make you loose some items), But aside from being able to play a more stable FO3/use some NV shit in it, no real reason or value in TTW, most of the FO3 weapons have been integrated in several other mods from PN, to mods that only add shit like the Assault Rifle and Chinese AR from 3 etc.

Yeah you can actually die in NV in VATS, in 3 it pretty much took a mini nuke or an act of god to kill you in VATS.

Also grenades blew up on impact when thrown in VATS, if they hit a target in 3. Between that, and how little damage you took, VATS+Frags became my favorite build in 3.

McNamara is just overly cautious, and a bit too gunshy, he seems decent enough otherwise. He's rational enough to ally with the NCR for the battle of Hoover Dam, IDK if hardin does. (But since you're solo doesn't matter)

Anyways feel free to blow up the Van Graff's really, all the uniques they sell will just be sold by Gun Runners. (Sadly even the BoS doesn't really compare weapons wise, or ammo, Van Graffs are a must if you're energy weapons heavy early game)

I fucked around with the player scale in New Vegas, and I've been getting some issues at regular size. Enemies keep aiming way above me, the pip boy light doesn't work or, more likely, is way above me, and I can't hit enemies with melee indoors. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Can you adjust the iris sizes? They seem a little big. If not then maybe just lower the eye size a little, see if that helps. She looks pretty good anyway though, got a good balance of just keeping composure but on edge and could break at any moment.

They slant downwards too much, makes them look droopy. slant them inwards just a small amount. Honestly, maybe tweek the size a bit as well, since that's exacerbating the effect.

Autumn Leaves is a bit different, there's no combat (unless you want to I guess), just exploring and talking and it's got multiple endings for the different characters based on your actions and how you interact with them. Playing For the Enclave right now, and that's a good one too.

There's a mod called Desert Ranger Bunker or something similar. It's very good.

Victor's shack works well, not sure if containers reset in vanilla though. Modded versions are safe, tend to be pretty minimalist, and this one for sure has clean water. Again, not sure if the base game sink works.

Holy fuck. Fuck "Better Locational damage".

Kept having naked raiders spawn in game, while using Raider Overhaul, despite RO being 100% up to date. Apparently BLD replaces RO's .esp, which threw a wrench into things. Good riddance to that mod and it's 10+ fucking plugins.

It didn't for me, for some reason. I downloaded the mods latest patch and the black sphere over Vault 111 that throws you into an infinite loading screen was still there.

The only thing that sort of fixed it after the patch was when I made a new test character. Even then, that bugged out and showed me an off-kilter version of the exiting the vault cutscene as soon as I got close, even though I started outside the vault.

Anyone else ever have this issue where you do the Memory Den quest BEFORE you find Nick Valentine (replays the scene where MUH SHAUN was taken) and once you exit the sim and talk to Irma, you can't open the pipboy, open weapons, etc?

Anyone know of a fix? I can't seem to find one, and i'd rather not reload my last save which was a stupidly long time ago

They improve humanity by improving human limitations. Synth technology is the reason kelogg lived as long as he did and appears 70 years younger then his true age which would be impossible to achieve without the synth experiments.
A lot of humans in the institute are also older then they appear.
The synths are more like by products, a bonus used as slaves that seem more human and are good at infiltration as well. And since synths are basically manufactured 3d printed humans the institute assumes they are machines that are programmed to act like humans. So they treat them as such.
