Nah, as someone who isn't even a shipperfag, just a straight up Mercy waifufag, Michael Chu can go hang himself for pulling this kind of bullshit. As soon as Metzen left Chu started shoving his horse shit into the game. Chu is nothing more than a waifufag with too much power and is abusing his station. He is far, far more concerned with making sure that Mercy is his girlfriend than actually writing anything. The story hasn't progressed a single day, Mercy is not even a character at this point, she just exists to acknowledge Genji. What the fuck is the point of this fucking nonsense? Why? Why waste the time and resources for something like this? Only a total retards cannot see what he's trying to do, and I'm at least glad people are voicing their disdain over it even if I don't agree with what they want instead. The story is suffering but oh man gotta make sure Mercy acts ambiguously like Genji's girlfriend because fucking why not?

Because Morrison's backstory and what Reaper says in Old Soldiers suggests he was changed into Reaper after the explosion and in his bio it says the Reaper, the one sucking life and ghosting around, has been a threat for decades. It's not even 20 years, it could be suggesting that it's over 20 years for all we know.

Also Reaper has never, in any lore outside his bio, sucked life from anyone. Hell, it says he's systematically eliminating Overwatch agents when one of his shorts shows him being unable to get the list of agents to kill. Not only that, it's shown him only working for Talon thus far, not even exploring his own desires.

Reaper's bio is such a confusing mess.

I went to the forum, the first day there were a lot of good complaints. There was this huge thread which hit the point that they should focus on other things, but it was locked and unlocked and then had its title changed. The title was "On Overwatch Lore and Michael Chu". It was actually pretty civil, but all it came to the conclusion was that there isn't enough lore to explain anything.

We don't know how much of a confused mess the lore was when it was in Metzen's hands, so it's entirely possible Chu's been getting his shit together while we've been waiting for more story (I could be wrong, of course, I'm not saying this is definitely the case). This is kinda how I feel, but while he hasn't done anything bad, he hasn't done anything good either. The best comic we got from was "Old Soldiers" which was also the last non-filler comic. That was back in July 2016.

The only way those gency voicelines would make sense/have good execution is if he releases a comic/short that establishes that they are a couple and that is the last thing I want.

That's basically it, waiting and hoping that the next comic/short actually has story or meaningful, but the fact that he has made 2 holiday comics in a row and cancelled first strike makes me very nervous. I really wish, that I didn't even feel this way. I shouldn't be afraid that the story has a chance of going bad.

Actually, that's the part I think could be worse. It's all dependent on just how far the relationship goes - it'd be fine if it was just mutual attraction at this point and neither of them had actually made a move. It's kind of John Hughes slice-of-life-y bullshit, but it's not like it's unheard of for a story's romance to start with the guy and the girl already liking each other but being unable to take the next step for some reason or another. I think I'd rather he just took the camera off Genji and Mercy altogether for a while, though, since we've still got characters who have gotten zero development outside of a handful of lines (Mercy included).

Genji feels like one of the most fleshed out characters, while Mercy is exactly the opposite. He really needs to shift attention away and make sure other characters get attention.

He even has admitted that they had to cut stuff from Genji's background. No other character has that problem. The thing I am afraid of in those questions, is that they are removing all agency from her. Genji's bio seems to suggest that Mercy only saved his life and didn't give him cybernetics. You know I try to not get mad at people on games. They're just like me, trying to have a good time. Maybe they're bad because they have other stuff to do, maybe they're just stupid but that doesn't mean they deserve to have nothing but bad times.

But then there's the unforgivably stupid people.
They aren't ignorant, they aren't unknowledgeable, they're just downright morons. Their sheer stupidity obliterates absolutely any empathy or compassion I have for other people every time I come into contact with them.
