Animal trainer. Surely training war giant emus isn't much harder than training dogs.

If that doesn't work out I could try my hand as a brewer. I've worked in various aspects of the wine and spirits industries for a long time, and though I've never brewed or distilled I know the processes much better than any well-informed layman just from having interacted with so many producers and visited so many facilities. The dog thing is just a side gig but I enjoy it more.

No, not a feature yet except in goblin civs during worldgen. The bolts are probably not related. The cheesemaker probably just died of an injury sustained in a barfight. Though they should both have gone to the hospital for treatment if they were injured.

I had to send one dwarf to Armok because he just would not stop raging. One of the brawls he started spilled into the tavern, then to the great hallway outside; after a passing militiadorf was hit things got out of control and several were badly maimed.

One later perished in the hospital; I think the water carriers were distracted by that sneaky cave crocodile too many times, or something.

No. If equipment did matter an adamantine boot would do less damage than any other footwear.

I believe you can equip a weapon with any appendage that has a grasp, but I've never messed with that so I'm unsure of how exactly it works.

hey /dfg/, you might remember me from some threads ago, I am creating a custom mod now called D(egeneracy)Fortress, which is a mod with themes based about /dfg/ and 4chans' cultures (''each time a little bit better'')
The mod also focus on sexual dimorphism, drugs and many many dumb shit
Right now it has two main inteligent races (most creatures and sentients are erased)

Humans are technology oriented beings with a feel for hedonist and derrotists behaviours, and have two main castes, with a small chance of being born
>Chads-Bigger and dumber than normal humansThey also have bigger dicks, they'll fuck you up and then they'll fuck your girl
>Staceys-Silicone breasted beings with no empaty or intelligence whatsoever, with [GRASP] tags on their lips and mouth, and varying sizes of breasts, hips and fixed vaginal wideness a particular charm!


Anons on the other part, are shorter, usually chubbier beings than humans, with an afinity to degeneracy in general and suicidal feelings in particular
Their castes and abilities are varied, but the most important one is the mod, a being that is born one in a thousand and can ban or permaban people in the game if he's pissed enough
the game also adds very unnatural things to the vanilla game, like a nice try at sex, many many present-day objects, drugs and mistery in general


This is just a short as fuck list of what the mod adds, many more castes with their unique abilities and interactions, new objects and industries, like drugs or smartphone industries arent gonna be mentioned for now

Have in mind that most features are adventure mode related, although it can be enjoyed in fort mode

Worth noting: do not give an interaction for greeting friends to dwarves and humans or whatnot. I experimented a while back with a "rub beards" one and the fuckers spam it non-stop, cats don't because they are assholes.

Not sure how you did sex and whatnot but from thinking about it you could do interactions which induce sex-related emotions and grant further interactions, flirt, kiss, grope, etc, etc.

Though I'd leave the chain started by a player unit, like I said about the beard rubbing test I did, if they can spam an interaction at friends

Running around sampling whatever random plants you find and make booze out of is surprisingly cozy.

In tissue_template.txt add a healing rate to the tissue in question. Cartilage, nail, talon and claw should get one, anything else that doesn't have one isn't supposed to (just nervous tissue, I think). The format is [HEALING_RATE:X], with higher values for X equating to slower healing. The usual value used for those tissues is 1000, same as bone.

Got the basics set out for a Kill Six Billion Demons mod, been playing around with perfect world for a suitable world: http://i.imgur.com/TEPQPNU.png while fiddling around with the basic parts of the setting. I think having the seven demiurges as megabeasts with a unique sphere and [POWER] along with seven entities that have one of those spheres each should work for getting them in power without there being hordes of these fuckers running around, and I'm scared of the angels without having seen one explode yet.

Here's what I was shooting for with the glowtiles btw, since I don't have a billion races and creatures it frees up some tiles for this.

Intend to have it where if you manage to kill one you can take the key and get the power/glowtile and all that jazz.

Still pondering what to do with demons though. Angels were easy, make a forged ash inorganic template, a white flame tissue template, slap them together, give them terrifying edged hand to hand attacks, bing-bang-boom that's that.

Think I'll have to go the multi-caste route with devils though, that'll be a hassle.

Rescuing children happens to be bugged in the current version, though. Whenever you bring a child back to its parents, the child will become "no quarter", inevitably ending with the death of the child. The same thing happens if you ask someone to adopt it.

Seems like it should be a quick fix. Eventually it would be interesting if each individual's personality and the variance between the two civs' eithics and values were considered to determine how much assimilation had taken place. It won't ever say domesticated. You only get that for species with [COMMON_DOMESTIC]. With dwarves and humans, at least, not sure how it would work with elves. In any case, the best you'll ever get with wild species in the course of normal fort mode play is "expert", which is the level beyond general familiarity. It doesn't make much difference if you're doing a breeding program, though, you don't need any particular level to have a tamed population. As long as you train the children you don't even need to reach "a few facts".

Outside of your fort? No. Civ-wide knowledge of training a particular animal will make it easier to train them in other forts, though.

In worldgen histfigs who wander the wilds will sometimes return with "journey pets", and in those cases that civ will sometimes bring them as war animals or mounts, but it's not really the same thing. I've mostly seen it with goblins, showing up mounted on giant bats or elk birds or giant toads, probably some others I don't recall, and using war cave dragons and war jabberers. I've seen a human siege with the law giver mounted on a giant leopard, but none of the others were mounted. Elves don't appear to rely on that system for their mounts and war animals. I haven't seen anything except beak dogs from goblins since 34.11, so that info might not apply anymore. I've never seen a journey pet in adv mode.

I've read anecdotes of dwarven migrants showing up with GCS as pets, but I've played an awfully long time and never seen a single migrant pet that wasn't [COMMON_DOMESTIC]. I'm skeptical. There's a bug report about a migrant showing up with a pet forgotten beast, though, so who knows?

And being on the outer edge, the doors will attract them from a greater distance than anything inside the tavern can, so no amount of additions to its interior would make a difference in that regard.

Well sure, if you've got jabberers that's a fine use for them, but it's not exactly the sort of thing that falls under general advice. Most forts don't have jabberers at their disposal, and there's nothing in his screenshots to suggest he does. I might just as well tell him to use cave dragons or war elephants or giant lemurs.

There are plenty of FBs other than just webbers that can be problematic. Deadly dust, deadly blood, poisonous gas, and creatures made of fire are all hard counters to melee, and require special preparations to deploy marksdwarves against. Firebreathing too, under the right conditions. Relying on military is a gamble, and every FB that shows up is a chance to lose that bet. Over a long enough period of time your chances of encountering a catastrophic FB approach 100%. Nothing wrong with that if you're playing to lose, but if that's not the case you can take steps to prevent it.

Taking a woodcutter is a waste, skill doesn't affect anything but the speed they cut trees at, and a no skill woodcutter cuts them fast enough that you'll hardly notice the difference. Any unskilled dwarf can do it, and it levels pretty quickly if you have a lot of trees to cut.
Leader serves no purpose at all except for soldiers giving demonstrations, unless you just really want to pick your expedition leader.
Whichever dwarf goes to trade for the first time each caravan gets a few levels worth of appraiser for free, so that's wasted.
Recordkeeping will only make your bookkeeper finish his job faster, which is only significant if you wait years to raise the count accuracy.
Medical skills are arguably pointless to bring at embark; they only affect the time it takes to do the job, and can't be bought at a high enough level for that difference to be significant. You're also unlikely to use them before they've they've rusted to the point that you'd be just as well served using a no-skill doctor. If you do need them before that point then something has gone wrong very early in your fort, and those points will probably have helped you more if they were invested in a fighting dwarf who can make your problem go away than a doctor who can give you a marginal bonus in recovering from damage that is, in all likelihood, still accumulating. If you happen to be embarking on a very hostile location where you expect early casualties and you've already bought some soldiers, then a doctor may be a good investment as well. Otherwise just wait for migrant with medical skills to come, or put someone with no skill in the position if you need one before that happens.

So I'm intending to have different entities with religious spheres that only overlap a single demiurge, and I'll be giving them the power tag and making them megabeasts so I can control the total number and force them to each take over their own civilization.

Then of course you run the problem of master/law-giver type positions not always being found in a keep or spire, so I figured fuck it, something that powerful should be able to be tracked by suitably trained/powerful beings, gave each their own creature class, and a sense creature class for each one.

There's humans all around the 7 here but only their key icons stand out.

Don't even bother hammering a vampire unless your hammerer is a legendary hammerdorf. Even when chained up, vampires are EXTREMELY good at evading the hammerstrikes.

Surely /po/ isnt /pol/ although many people mix them, but they dont represent 4chan
I like the idea of having /r9k/ do the rebellion against normies, having /x/ perform satanic rituals, having /diy/ build the fortress, stuff like that, y'know
And that's only efficiently possible if all of them belong to the same civ

If only there was some way to make certain caste's breeds be the same as their parents, I could have colonies of certain groups living in a single fort, instead of having them mixed

In my opinion, "/x/ poster" and "/pol/ poster" should be scholar professions associated with their own respective subjects.
