I'm a new player, coming close to maxing out my starter frame and gear. Who should I get next that's good? Mesa looks cool, is she any good? Though I primarily want to melee so she's prob not a great option.

with frames, i can recommend you to try every frame that you get from a boss, sooner or later you will have to level them. also, excalibur is probably one of the best frames when you want to play melee only.

How are you "actually" supposed to fight the Shadow Stalker? He went for me when I was soloing and I ended up dying to him. I can do a chunk of damage to him at the start, but when he hits like 75% health, he just goes in and out of being immune to damage and it's conveyed very badly what he's actually doing.

Yeah, I did the quest where you fight one, but that one I basically got confused as to how to deal damage to him so I just kited him until I had enough energy to do Mesa's 4 until he died.

It says that bows are bad because they are burst damage weapons. As in, they do a shit ton of damage in one shot, but fall off when trying to attack hordes of enemies.

However a Burst damage weapon is fine in a mission where you have a single target, NOT because it is a single target weapon, but because you aren't actually fighting a horde. Sustained DPS doesn't matter because that burst damage can always be placed on your actual target. It is not a single target weapon and will often kill things besides your primary target, which is nice, but mostly irrelevant.

Burst weapons suck in things like defense mission because your target is every enemy.

Quality of builds varies wildly. I mean, I've literally seen people post Oberons with the Enemy Radar aura equipped as examples of builds to use on high-level missions there. Some are OK.

Honestly the most important thing is to figure out what a frame is good at and which powers you find the most effective, and then building to those strengths.

Spore with damage is most effective against low-level stuff (and/or Corpus crewmen).

For high-level stuff, especially against other enemy types, 1 spam can't kill them by itself and you need to use the rest of her powers.

I know this is confusing for you because all of your builds and advice centre around pressing 1 button over and over again but the rest of us can understand concepts like "You have 4 powers, try using more than one of them."

Low-level/Corpus squishies? Zenurik+Primed Flow, Streamline/Fleeting Expertise (your call, if you go with Fleeting you might want Blind Rage rather than TF), Stretch, Overextended, Primed Continuity, Transient Fortitude, Intensify, Steel Fibre, Vitality, Cunning Drift.

High-level shit? Naramon+Primed Flow, Constitution, Primed Continuity, Intensify, Transient Fortitude, Stretch, Vitality, Steel Fibre, Cunning Drift/Power Drift (your choice on more range or more damage). Arguably you could drop Steel Fibre and Vitality there because you;ll be invisible a lot of the time but I view it as an insurance policy. YMMV. Don't just rely on Toxic Lash here either, once enemies have a bunch of procs on them remember to hit them with Miasma and shit too.
