Nero is presented as legitimate. They wanked her, made her do no wrong, while presenting this as undeniably how she was in canon, then made every other Roman Servant revolve around her existence.

Altera isn't presented the same way. They've gone beyond full retard with her, and that works in its own strange way. Beyond that, there's no Servant so far that has been twisted to have their existence revolve solely around Altera.

But Nero as a character herself has always been charming as fuck and really well received despite/because of her Saber clone status. Extella putting focus back on her just reminded a lot of people how entertaining she is when she's not surrounded by people falsely telling her she's perfect and flawless, like her GO showings.

Part of her character in Extra was that she did shit like that to try and show the populace that she loved them, but had a really twisted idea of what love was due to her upbringing. Then she died, broken and alone, because she failed at letting the people know.

It's a pretty big deviation from who the historical Nero was, but I can appreciate it for what it is. Her telling Hakuno about her final moments before killing herself were pretty sad.

Honestly, I think that Solomon is how you should legitimately present someone beyond the scale of power without compromising anything. In case of Arturia and Gilgamesh, they were first introduced as fucking jobbers and then powercrept and wanked which is what sometimes causes a backslash (see Iskandar for the same thing only minor scale). Altera is the opposite level of retard. Does anyone gives a fuck about her character when she's there to induced a fake sense of pity due to shallow waifu antics and the most retarded backstory divorced to her being Attila. She's just literally powerwank: the character without any substance.

Whether you like Roman or not, the model Nasu did with him was the most effective and how he should do on other characters. Solomon was established by other works prior as a mysterious super relevant lore figure (notable Apoc and Garden of Avalon), but what Nasu did was to introduce Solomon first as a character completely divorced of his powers, as Roman, make the fanbase get to know him, get to like him (or not) and then reveal the Solomon thing. The powerwank was only secondary to the character and he had a legitimately heartfelt sacrifice (so far...) and farewell scene which seemed to mean something unlike Altera's forced 'death' which later turns her into a loli (just to complete the shallow waifubait fanservice). Nasu worried about the character and the characterization before the powerlevel shit without compromising the powerlevel, in fact it appears better because he's not shoved down our throats. I think this is what Nasu needed to do more with other powerful characters.

Apparently Liz is considered an Anti-Hero fully, and Iskandar really is about as strong as Altera somehow. Though they give some excuse that he saw the fight as a warm up since he wasn't used to fighting on SERAPH. The Mooncell summoned him as a high class servant to take her down after sensing her existence.

I don't know if he just has a shit time showing he's apparently strong normally then, because he didn't do much in Zero.

Atilla was strong, for a number of reasons, but her plot didn't really revolve around that. Nero and Tamamo weren't really strong but just had Regalia. There were moments where they had to overcome some strong leader on the enemy side, but that wasn't necessarily power levels.
