I grinded fenrir before wondrous tails came out and neither that nor this really bothers me.

The difficulty for synthesizing HQ items using Quick Synthesis has been reduced.

Higher gear attributes in relation to the recipe's difficulty will increase your chances of crafting HQ items.

I hope it shows the HQ chance on the UI somewhere when using quick synth and if it's not 100% anyways, then you might as well just do it manually if you need the HQ chance.

You can set up browser profiles in Firefox and Chrome which will store your bookmarks, history (whatever you want) in the cloud and syncs that with your browser.

Hunts are incredibly simple.

You have 4 ranks of Hunt.

C rank hunts are normal enemies, you can pick up the bills for them at a hunt board. ARR hunts only offer 1 C rank hunt bill per day, but it features 2 FATE bosses and a few normal enemies. Something like 50-60 seals per day this way.

B rank hunts are also offered via the hunt board but you can only take on 1 per week. They're a little harder but not really challenging and should give you no trouble solo. They can be a little hard to find sometimes as they spawn seemingly randomly around certain spots on the map. They have no respawn timer really so if you miss a kill just keep looking as another has popped up somewhere.

A Rank hunts are open with no bill required for reward, they're similar to rare spawns in other MMO. They have somewhat lengthy respawn timers and offer more of a challenge as well as slightly more rewards. Bring a group if you're on level with them or at least be aware of mechanics if you're above and trying to solo.

S Ranks also require no bill and only spawn after very long timers and many under extremely specific conditions are met in specific locations. They are very difficult compared to A ranks and you will almost certainly not be soloing so you will absolutely need a large group so announce the spawn in Party Finder and you'll have a following in no time as they're highly sought after. The biggest rewards.

Warrior is a nice counterpart job to level alongside dragoon, especially since you already have Marauder to at least 15.

That'd be the B rank ones. blue icons next to a mobs name means they're passive, and you can walk right up to them with no consequence. Red means they're hostile. There are various designs for these icons depending on the monster, but the red/blue dynamic is all you really need to know about them.

Warrior was pretty fun for the first 15 levels, but I'm quite scared I'll mess up dungeons and stuff with tanking. It seems really hard.

I play Tanks in pretty much every MMO mainly because most tanks are legit SHIT at their jobs but tanking in this game is pretty chill, you have long GCDs so you have more time to think about what you actually want to do.

The anxiety goes away after a few dungeons, just watch a dungeon guide before you enter for the first time, pull safe until you get a feel for how many mobs of what type you can actually survive, then do bigger pulls.

Tanking is REALLY fun, don't let that little bit of anxiety hold you down.

It's not that hard, tanking with WAR is mostly about making sure you dont completely run out of TP by spamming overpower

To engage in a pack of mobs as WAR;
Tomohawk one of the mobs to ger their attention
Use Overpower a number of times equal to the number of mobs (eg 3 mobs = overpower 3 times. this is not a hard and fast rule but its a useful rule of thumb for smaller packs)
Spam heavy strike combo on one of the mobs, swapping through them if required. If your group is nice they'll nuke down one mob at a time, so its easy to know which mob you should focus on. If not, you have to tab target around a bit, throwing out a bit of threat here and there

Oh WHM is fun, it was my main for a long time before I had to hop on the AST bandwagon. Keep at it, I think the HW skills make playing WHM a lot better than it already was. Some of the other classes change how they play in HW though so those might take longer to learn but it still eases you in nicely (for the most part)

You could also always get a "MMO GAMING MOUSE XD" like the Naga (I don't advise buying newer razor products) or the Logitech G600.
Both come with a thumb grid which you can re-bind in the mouse software (I use the numberpad) and then just bind certain skills to your mouse.

Currently playing on my first run through of the game and I'm a level 37 black mage. It appears that somewhere in the mix I fell behind in leveling to keep up with the story. Where should I be grinding to level up for the next 10 levels or so?

Also does anyone recommend any guides on power leveling crafting/gathering. Basically just looking for things people have written out that explain/tell you what to focus to maximize your time leveling jobs.

Understandable, I'm not familiar with the former but I have a friend who plays on gilga and he says it's super raid heavy therefore a lot of people can be dicks on many things. He also said it's sorta hard to join a lot of end game groups since they stay cliqued up although that's just what I heard and have no evidence since I've never played on it. Personally I play on exodus and people are pretty social/nice but I'm sure that's normal in all servers. To be honest I'd probably just switch to your friends server and start fresh with the friends list and see what happens, especially since you'll have a "noob" starting and it would be awhile before he makes it to end game stuff

Yeah Gilgamesh is raid heavy but there's usually WT groups in party finder and there's still tons of people that join party finder for that new person bonus on Coil/Alexander normal content so it's not all just hardcore no-fun-allowed raiders. People are still doing pony farms on old primal's and speedrunning floor 51-60 POTD is quite popular. There's not much you can't do on Gilgamesh aside from maybe labyrinth of the ancients but I'm hoping for a 24 man daily in duty finder eventually to fix it and make old CT runs possible.

Main/off heal is mostly used to determine which healer prioritizes dpsing without having to be interrupted for a single target heal on the MT. Not to have 1 fully dpsing and the other fully healing like all scholars force coWHM/ASTs to do.

On WHM/SCH comps, SCH is the offhealer, on SCH/AST comp, SCH is again the offhealer but on WHM/AST comps, since WHM heals a fuckload through hots and cure III, it stays as offhealer till a burst aoe heal is needed while keeping hots up while the AST handles shielding and tank babysitting in general while dpsing as it can.

WHM+AST is the comp where both healers share the most responsibility while any comp with SCH has the SCH doing way more dps than the co healer.

Rouse+Dawn every Whispering Dawn, Illumination with them every time it's available/big healing is needed (fountains as an example) and Covenant depending on the fight. That is how SCH heals though. Most of their skills are either mitigation or burst. If you're trying to main heal on SCH chances are you have a tremendous amount of overhealing. Their job is to put mitigation up for big hits, and to use cooldowns to cover the WHM or AST after big hits.

scholar cannot "main heal" simply because shields are extremely heal inefficent compared to hots, and relies heavily on the fairy to do most of it's healing, but doesn't mean it cannot take over to let the other healer put on dots
