The Dalish portray them as innocent and kind, the ancient elves actually knew how dangerous they were and they lived in fear. Solas says this too if you pick a certain dialogue option upon discovering Falon'din's mural in Mythal's temple.

Also they warred continuously with each other in "petty fights" and were "arrogant and fickle".

Currently playing DA:O for the first time. I've heard people say that starting off as a Mage then going Blood Mage/Arcane Warrior is the way to go if I want a tanky character with a lot of CC options.

Should I specialize into Blood Mage first, then go Arcane Warrior? Or the other way around?

I don't agree with the circles, but I don't think that they should have unrestricted freedom either. Mages need to have constant observation that acts as a control mechanism because only then a consciousness of constant surveillance is internalized and they don't start doing crazy blood magic experiments.

I usually cook lunchs a month in advance, freeze them, and brown bag lunch for works. I try to have at least one hot meal a day. The last time I cooked was last Thursday. I ate with my parent for Saturday, and ever since, I had DAI instead of cooking.
This game is seriously addicting. I can't remember the last time I played a RPG that keeps me riveted like this. Interesting story, interesting casts, interesting quests, this is as close to perfection as I've ever remember.
Yes, even the dreaded Hinterlands. I finished that zone minus the collection quests before I moved on. The combat is so addicting (me being a mage with many buttons to juggle probably helps there) and the lore, quests, characters, so much more detailed than DAO. It's amazing. My final challenge was a rift where the enemy out leveled me a good 4 or 5 level. I had to retry times and times again, until I know exactly where to dispell before they spawn!
Then I moved on to the main quests and it's simply amazing. I ran home after work and put a solid 6 hours into the game for 2 nights straight, on the third night, I banged my head against it for another 6 hours and the final moment when I raised a sword a little bit after 1AM, I felt like it was a fair price for the previous 2 nights.
Now that I have my specialization, there are far less and less challenging content, but the story and the characters kept me engaged all the way through. After finding DA1 boring and skipping DA2 due to bad reviews, I'm glad I didn't skip this one for the same reason. Surprisingly, I was almost 100% unspoiled, partially because after DA2 I doubt Bioware has much left in them for another good game so I didn't even try to follow it, and the initial bad reception wasn't help either, but now, I'm doing all the fetch quests one by one because I'm afraid the game will end soon....
I've started eating into my frozen lunches for dinner, I should still be good for another week or so, but if you read this, send help.

Unrestricted freedom is an extremely bad idea, but the answer is very clearly not to imprison them, torture them Even moderately relaxing that shit gives better results, as shown in Rivain until (surprise) the Chantry fucked them in the ass.

A modest proposal:

- Remove the Chantry from the equation entirely. Should be self-explanatory.
- More Circles, but smaller Circles. Smaller Circles are easier to police and maintain, less likely to get dangerous factions growing, a single rogue tower would be a major disaster a la Kinloch.
- Less Templars, but better trained Templars. All Templars vetted for mage-related tragic backstories (here's looking at you, Meredith), mental health issues, obvious latent sadist traits, etc, but that clearly isn't happening. Less focus on stabby-stabby-hacky-rape, more on magic control, conflict de-escalation, etc. Without Chantry intervention, less "I'm a soldier of God, I can do what I want bc I'm just", more "I'm doing an important job and getting well paid for it".
- Bin the Harrowing. It's stupid, doesn't work, and causes insane amounts of problems. Instead, have something more like a university degree in which you have to prove over the course of several years of testing that you can control yourself, you're well learned, disciplined, trustworthy, etc. Mages that pass get to live in the outside world. Those that don't/haven't passed yet live in the Circle but are allowed to be visited by family, or leave under escort.
- Increase the economic output of Circles. Get more mages working, the potential is unlimited. Teach them skills, both professional and general. Less "Lord Dick Holder rented a single Tranquil to enchant this ring for 10g", more "King Hugh Gass paid a stupid amount of money to have this highway built in a week".

Basically, not-shit Hogwarts. Like it wouldn't solve everything but it would probably be an improvement.

Any mods for DA:I that make it easy to get Tier 4 schematics?

They were given a stupidly short period of time to churn out a highly anticipated game that had a fair amount of problems (teething problems with EA, "new" engine, team members leaving, etc), plus there's a massive slice of YMMV going on since a lot of the complaints are down basically down to taste (ie scaled-down narrative, opinion on companions, opinion on how closely recreating the Origins formula was, etc).

Also its ugly. Kirkwall is ugly. The city, the coast, Sundermount - like, I get it fits the pretty miserable setting/story but goddamn, it is ugly.
