So I just installed CoC a few hours ago. Took a fetch quest to get 4 energy drinks for a random Duty guard in the Bar. The problem is that he won't take them. I have 4 energy drinks in my inventory yet there's no option to give them to him. I already tried to sell them to him, but that doesn't do anything either. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm playing JP2 right now, really like it so I recommend it very much, although it might be hard to get into as compared to most mods, I know it was for me. But since I love Stalker in all shapes and sizes I gave it some time, and after a lot of confusion I really started to see all of the fun, albeit the fun can be quite frustrating at times

Echo < Bear < Veles < Svarog

Echo is just beeps based on proximity. Can only detect low-tier artifacts.

Bear is beeps based on proximity, plus artifact compass. Can detect low and mid-tier artifacts.

Veles is a radar screen showing the exact location of artifacts. Can detect all artifacts.

Svarog is a Veles detector that also shows the position of anomalies. Can detect all artifacts.


You have the best chance of finding better detectors in "loaded stashes" which are stashes that have been revealed to you by NPCs and are marked on your map.

It's RNG based on the loot tier setup. Having the stash be "loaded" increases the loot tier, but you can definitely find good stuff in them extremely rarely.

Normally it takes me 50+ unmarked stashes before I see a single toolkit or veles, but if I'm grinding quests and getting marked stashes, I'll typically have all 3 kits (and a couple duplicates) along with a veles inside 10 stashes.

Assuming you're playing CoC, you don't even need to loot enemies if you're out of the hobo phase, it's a waste of time. Just sell all of your spare artifacts to beard whenever you get a big load, and you'll bring in a few hundred thousand each time easy.

Apparently the transition back to the Bar from Radar does not load, I loaded a previous save and ran to Radar to see if the transition would load but it didn't even then

Trashbags are on the opposite side of the spectrum while SEVAs offer an anomaly oriented middle ground most exos are a sliding scale of combat to anomaly oriented heavy suits while maintaining good combat characteristics

Today I reinstalled Call of Pripyat after only playing the vanilla version of the game once a few years ago, and this time around I want to toy around with some mods.

Before reinstalling I tried to Call of Chernobyl mod, but after finding out that it's mostly roaming around freely, I went back to CoP. I don't even remember the story anymore, so that's good.

I'm currently reading through all the links in OP. Is AKM still the next best thing to go to? Because before coming here I did some googling and that mod was never really mentioned, even though I remember it being very popular here a few years ago.

Should I go for AKM or S.M.R.T.E.R? Basically I'm only looking for a graphical overhaul, more atmosphere, a more dangerous zone and a nicer gun selection than vanilla offers.

On my last ironman mode run I got shot through the fucking window of that big house southeast of The Merc base in Dead City.

But then again it was by a merc with a NATO lasergun, so I was okay with it.

On the other hand, Zombies in survival mode are a total nightmare because they seem to have terminator vision and the first round is always a headshot even from 200m away

This was generally how they were in ZoA and it worked fine, but then again Zombies were pretty much broken in later ZoA builds because I messed with their vision/hearing and due to SoC's weirdness they remained that way even when I changed them back to default.

I think if I do it again, it's only going to be narrowing their line of sight and making them pretty much deaf with tinnitus instead of initially going all out in changing their accuracy stats.

Looking at the trade files, Heavy Pockets is definitely a requirement and ramps the Veles + Svaorog stock percent up to 100%.

Now here's the kicker, the way the supply conditions are written on each trader's file, it appears that you don't get the Heavy Pockets stock bonus with ANY trader unless the actor (player) is also a member of that same community (faction).

I don't know if this is unintended, or they just didn't update the achievement's text to reflect that.

I installed nothing, there was a folder in the wpn folder called "ClassicScopes" I took these from because they looked like they were intended as replacers.
I checked the scopes_16.xml and all the entries for scopes had references to wpn_crosshair_add_l and _r, which were both black stripes that look like they're being attached to the left and right of a scope texture, though that doesn't seem to work properly.

Well, I downloaded Gnomus and found the exact texture used in CoM, now in 16:9.
I've replaced it and fucked around with xml files and now it works, and the scope is perfectly aligned.

In CoM I've collected two PDAs from enemies that I can't turn in for cash for some reason, they go in a seperate stack from PDAs that I can turn in and quest related PDAs (Nimble), they have the normal PDA description and cost 1 RU for some reason.

JP2 update: Turns out the transparency threshold is set to 0.25 which might as well be 0, since you need to hit a transparency value of about 90 for NPCs to consider it "opaque", so you can be on the other side of a 3 stack of bushes and they'll still shoot through them as if they weren't there.

Joint Pak 2? There's a body by the little tunnel under the road before you meet Petruha. Searching it starts one of the new quest lines. On the other side of the tunnel from the body is the sniper that killed him. You shouldn't take the car park mission until you've killed that sniper or the results are what you see.

Also, when Wolf offers you a mission to get his razor don't take it, wait till you have much better gear.

You need a knife to skin mutants. The only one I know of in Cordon is given to you by Kuznetsov for his bloodsucker quest.

I just installed CoC + STCoP on my new PC.

I get a lot of these freezes, where the game will just stop and everything on the screen is frozen, for 1~2 seconds and then continue on as normal.

For reference I'm playing mostly on Medium settings in DX11 with Vsync, and I'm running a GTX 1070 and an i5 6600K, and the game's on my primary SSD.

I don't know whats causing it, but any help is very much needed an appreciated.

Create a blank text file, paste that in, name it alife.ltx, place it in gamedata/configs and you're done. For the switch distance, try raising it in values of 50 until you're seeing minimal stuttering. Do note that you'll still get those stutters when a ton of NPCs get switched on at once, like zoning into the bar, but with a huge switch radius it should happen less frequently out in the world.

You need to be standing right on top of it with echo, and they do move, so it can be really difficult to get them to pop. Bear detector's reveal radius is much larger, buy one of those and give it a try.

Use DX9 Enhanced. All DX10 adds over it is volumetric smoke and a wet effects shader, neither of which is worth the fps hit and the increase in load times. DX11 is a step back from DX10, it's basically an unfinished renderer they added to CoP right before release to tick the marketing box.

Freezes are usually cpu lag due to npcs coming online, but if you're getting them frequently with that config try this:
- Quality setting to Maximum
- Render type to Enhanced Full Dyamic Lighting (DX 9 enhanced)
- Go into Advanace and turn up every fucking slider to max
- Sun rays and Sun quality to medium (low if you want, not much diff)
- Ambient occlusion on HBAO and medium (again low if you want)
- Disable Depth of Field
- Save settings by going back to the menu

Open the console with ~ and tweak grass settings with:
- r__detail_density 0.13
- r__detail_radius 90

These two can seriously hit your cpu and framerate, so tweak as you like. That's two underscores after the r. Radius has a bigger hit because the cost is quadratic. Density increases when you decrease the value, so increase it to 0.2 or something if you want less grass.

I get a solid 60fps with a 3770K and a 4 year old 7970 oc'ed.

Commenting these out didn't do anything either, but those hit animations seemed to be on the right track, so I went ahead and removed all of those out of the anims folder, and that didn't fix it either.

Anyone have any leads on this? I know cam_inert 0 turns it off, but it also removes the sway you get while aiming which makes things feel cheesy and artificial.

Using a stalker suit in the agroprom underground vs military, I found that getting shot on novice with the huge base resistance still had the spin, but it was significantly less than getting shot on master, so that makes sense if it's related to the damage taken.

One thing I could never find info on was whether or not the player benefited from time_to_aim when shot. We know that NPCs get some measure of damage reduction from it, but beyond that, I couldn't tell you. So I decided to run several tests in the agroprom underground versus a soldier with an AKS74U, and also ended up testing the effects of hit_probability with some interesting results.


So first, I would step out of cover about 15 feet from him with my flashlight on, wearing nothing but a Stalker suit, and see how long it took him to kill me. I did this several times with him having a wildly inconsistent times to kill on me. Sometimes he would instantly kill me the moment I stepped out of cover, other times he would shoot 10+ shots that "missed" before hitting and killing me. Since Master still has hit_probability at 50%, that appeared to account for the wildly differing TTKs, so I set hit_probability to 100% and ran more tests. Not surprisingly, his time to kill values on me narrowed substantially, with most tests resulting in an instant kill right off the bat, or critically wounding me and then instantly killing me a moment later. We're getting closer to a good test bed for time_to_aim, but not quite there yet as instant death vs "slightly slower than instant" is too too difficult to discern, so back to actor.ltx.

I changed the player's fire_wound_immunity from 1.0 to 0.5, which is the Novice value, which means I have 50% base projectile resistance on top of my Stalker suit, so back to testing I went. This time around, I could soak several hits before dying, but with that brutal 100% hit probability, I still fell over in about 2 seconds every time. The interesting thing about this is that on some Master tests with the default difficulty modifiers, I would actually survive LONGER than than with the Novice armor values with hit_probability removed, since you can get "lucky streaks" with hit_probability and "dodge" several lethal shots in a row, instead of getting hit every time, but for a lower amount of damage resulting in a smooth damage intake, instead of a somewhat random and spiky damage intake.

Unfortunately, this still wasn't long enough to be a good test bed for time_to_aim, so I dropped fire_wound_immunity to 0.15 for a whopping 85% damage reduction and ran more tests. This time, it took a LOT of shots to down me, which brought my survival time to around 6 seconds on average. This should be long enough, so I went and changed the time_to_aim value from 1.0 to 0. The results? It still took an average of 6 seconds to kill me. But maybe 1.0 was too small to really notice a difference to begin with, so I took it up to 10, which if TTA is in seconds, is longer than the average time to kill which should show a noticeable difference if it works on the player. How did that turn out? Surprisingly, it still took an average of 6 seconds to kill me.

Conclusion: The player does not appear to be afforded any defensive protections from time_to_aim.

Which research center? Anyway, make sure you're using 5.45 until Army Warehouses, where 5.56 becomes more common. Before encountering soldiers in Agroprom, you'll have to get by with an MP5. If you want to use the shotgun at range, load it with slugs.

Make sure to lean around cover and aim for the head. Avoid fights you don't need to pick. Empty the magazines of dropped weapons.

I feel the same way about all three games. In SoC, as soon as you turn off the scorcher you're basically railroaded and it's just a boring rush to the end of the game. Same thing in CS with Limansk, and then the same thing again with CoP and Pripyat. I used to force myself to push through complete a run, but now when I'm replaying a mod I just stop at that point and consider the playthrough complete.

It's funny, when I'm playing CoC, even though there's actually a reason to explore those locations now, I still can't bring myself to stick around those areas for more than a couple minutes while passing through because they put me in that same mindset as their respective games and just kills the mood for me.

It should be obvious, more frames = smoother. Nothing Cromm said is wrong. 30 FPS is less frames shown for longer time. Such a difference doesn't matter for film except maybe if you were doing some fast paced action like a Fast & Furious, but more frames does matter in gaming because more frames = more information in real time which can be essential for competitive gaming.

As you age it will get harder to tell the difference but children and young adults can definitely tell the difference.

The "low" framerate in film works because of the natural blur that occurs with cameras. 30FPS in video games is choppy garbage no matter what.

24 FPS in films has more to do with sound. You could get away with a lower framerate for just video but for sound to be good 24 was the minimum framerate.

I've noticed a few curious oversights in "vanilla" AMK AE, like several weapons retaining a hit_power damage structure based on difficulty, while most don't, and some having fixed damage, but then having their damage with a suppressor tuned by difficulty with some wacky results.

The SVU, for example, has a hit_power value of 0.95 unsuppressed, but the suppressed hit values are 0.85, 0.89, 0.96, 1.02 (Master/Veteran/Stalker/Novice) so suppressed it actually does MORE damage than unsuppressed on Novice and Stalker. The G36 has the same issue, and for some reason the G36c has an identical damage profile for both suppressed and unsuppressed (0.52, 0.55, 0.57, 0.6).

So there's a few things like that on my radar at the moment. I'm working on rooting out all of those anomalies without fucking up the existing weapon balance or heirarchy.

Aight so, I've started Clear Sky after way too long. I'm currently user the Chaser 13, and got it upgraded pretty high.

However, I'm now not able to use the Shot ammo, only slug.

I've unloaded the gun, and have both ammo types in my inventory. When I push the ammo change button, nothing happens. I know normally if the barrel is full, the gun will twitch and nothing happens, but not even that happens right now.

Is this a bug, or did I misread something in one of the upgrades?

Don't use the AA in the option, it doesn't work. Also if it lag like hell when it rain you'll have to deactivate it in the data files themselves, its due to a bug in the xray engine where it try to apply AA on each and every single drop of rain, with the expected result.

Play Vanilla first with patch (both the official one and the unofficial one) before you get any mods so you can truly appreciate what the mods are about and what is it that they change/add

Don't bother shooting from the hip, always aim from cover or from a place you know you can move away from the hostiles without putting yourself out in the open

Play on Veteran at least, the game is way more fun, challenging and you tend to be far more aware/immersed in the game/looking out for enemies when you know they can kill you just as fast as you can kill them and the mutants being a genuine threats that make you shit your pants (a bloodsucker scream will always put me on edge, even if I'm properly equipped to deal with it)

Don't download the Complete mod because it change lots of data that directly affect game play like the AI aim (especially with grenades, the fuckers can throw it at you with such precision that would make a aimbot seem flawed, from over a hundred feet away) among others things

Don't always go for biggest caliber laying around, its better to keep your old trusty ak with his common 5.56 ammo that you can find pretty much everywhere than to get some fancy and powerful gun with UN ammo that you can only find in the furthest region of the zone, far from friendly territories. And you don't want to be lacking ammo in the middle of a gunfight while you're in the middle of Pripyat or some underground complex, else you'll have to bring your knife to a gun fight, with the expected result

Don't bother shooting boar, they are bullet sponge so instead just take your trusty knife and stab them in the head when they get close, its a instant kill most of the time and they charge you all the time so it ain't a problem to get close.

Don't bother transporting a shit ton of stuff and different guns, just use the same rifle and get used to know it, how far it can shoot and with how much precision. Same things for all the others item, medipack and etc, you'll find more than enough on the fallen to keep yourself healed and if you do need that many healthpack, then you're doing something wrong because that mean you're getting shot at. 3/4 medipack of each type is ample enough, a dozen bandages should be enough too. Don't bother taking more than 2 or 3 vodka bottle, their weight can easily add up and eat up a lot of space.

Weight directly affect stamina regen, so try to keep it below a certain level so it doesn't eat up the stamina regen.

Don't bother taking guns in bad condition to sell them, most merchant won't buy back guns when they are past a certain quality, so instead just hoard the ammo you don't use since nearly everybody will buy that stuff even if they can't use the caliber in question

The bolt is your lifesaving buddy when it comes to anomalies, never fret away from using it!

Also anomaly are goldmines once you find a detector, a detour to one might end up with some unexpected loot, so don't hesitate to do so but be careful for you might not be the only one with that idea!

Are you SURE you got itemsoup from the reposetory? The one from moddb is not itemsoup, it's a patch for something else (even though it's really unclear).

Follow the instructions carefully.

Install WeaponGulash, then the basepatch from 0.21 folder. Then install ItemSoup and Outfit Addon, and then use the compability patch for both from the 0.21 zip not the 0.2 zip.

The original itemsoup is in the mega repository for CoC for STCoP, that's the one you should have

Development on my mod has started.
I am making whole new maps and factions.
Basically, its a scenario where Germany won the first world war and has gotten the spoils of the Brest-Litsovsk treaty(ukraine ceaded to Germany)
So, the new zone came to be due to the Ukraine being testing ground for new German weapons during this timelines cold war (Germany vs America(Europe vs Americas)). So, the zone is really worse than in Vanilla. The Zone will be more populated, there will be alot more german weapons (and german people ontop of native ukrainian people) and clothing will change;
I intend to have military wear Pickelhauben(they are the largest faction and stay neutral as long as protection money flows)
Mercs will wear armored suits in a darkish blue color, and wear ww2 era gasmasks, their equipment being from the same ww2 era. (probably will rename some guns to de nazify them, for example sturmgewehr would be Stoßgewehr and so on)
Bandits exist barren and not centralized; different bandit squats may be hostile. They will wear workers uniforms with makeshift mask and light kevlar. equipment is as ancient as their clothing, from the great war. some may be up to date to today's tech.
Next up, we have Communists; I may come up with a better name, but just immagine the commies from Metro in the zone. Sub standars equipment, poor organization.
Their fiends are my Duty ripoff,
Protecta. They are almost as well equipped as the military, wear urban camo and top tier suits. They will have a large base.
Lastly, Loners. There wont be loner leaders and the squada will never be larger than two. Their equipment can range from Great war bolt action rifles to modern machine guns. Loners may or may not be hostile. The player is a Loner, but can join most factions. The mod is set in 2012, after the fall of America. American weapons will be a rare commodity, and american ammo will be a highly valued trading item. Currency however, is Ruthenienmark.

Ecologists may appear here and there, mostly alone. at the moment i do not intend of having bunkers for them. they will have top tier equipment, and will always be guarded by a military squad. Ecologists are neutral to everyone. Next up, i am removing zombies since there wont be a brain scorcher or miracle machine. (weapons tested in the new zone are mostly of chemical nature, mutation has adapted to that)

Debating on how to do this balance pass for AMK AE 1.4.1. There are certain guns that are mechanically identical, use the same cartridge, yet have different damage values, such as the VSS which deals 87 damage, and the VAL which does 80. In real life, the only difference is the furniture, even the 10 and 20rd magazines are completely interchangeable. Same barrel length, same suppressor design, same everything. They also have wildly different accuracy values and degradation rates, and even rate of fire, though again they are identical in those regards in real life from a mechanical standpoint.

Do I bring the values in line with each other? From a gameplay perspective, the difference between them would be 20rd mag + iron sights (even though the VAL features the same side rail as the VSS in real life and should be able to mount a PSO) vs 10rd mag + PSO, instead of the current situation where the VSS's scope + more damage just completely outclasses the VAL causing it to be a downgrade.


Or do I just fix the really blatant problems like certain weapons doing more damage while suppressed, bad difficulty scaling causing some guns to be vastly inferior to other weapons in their class on Master?

I would prefer guns to be real life balanced, not arbitrary "gameplay balanced." Same cartridge, barrel length, suppressor design, mechanical principles? Same bullet velocity, therefore the same damage. I hope the VSS is heavier accordingly too.

I would think there would be more VALs out there than VSS rifles, so maybe the VSS is more rare to make up for being better.
