AA2 isn't a good first run mod. It adds detectors to SoC which has artifacts in random locations. You'll miss out on most of them. The best artifact in the game, Urchin, is in a location where it can't even be detected by the gear you have when you first encounter it.

Play it or AMK Autumn as your second run.

After what happened, I felt a little cheated. But I guess Monolith had to have their day, there wasn't really going to be any stopping them in the end.

The AO+SRP merge in the repo is a very good vanilla-ish playthrough. It fixes all the main problems with base CS: bugs, weak guns, bullet sponges, grenade spam, etc.

The biggest deviation is in how it handles stashes: it chose to use the pre-filled stashes option which breaks the economy very very quickly. Sad that anon didn't choose to make it an option as in AMK Autumn. But you can play CS more like a shooter with atmosphere rather than survival.

CoC has the groundwork for layered sounds like Radium does, meaning different gunshot and explosion sounds can be played depending on how distant the event happens from the player.

No, ZoA's biggest problem are both random and predictable crashes, corruptions to save files and a system that added more mutants after every blowout to all the fucking areas. So taking it slow and doing missions at the start would get you raped in the later areas that had literally hordes on them. I remember opening an area, and chucking grenades every which way to clear the first waves, it was ridonculous. Even ended up with two fucking controllers at one time. So I've been fucking around with guns in CoC and discovered that if your weapon has a 2x1 icon like most pistols, you can modify the following line to:

- put it in the knife slot (0)
- put it in the binoculars slot (4)
- put it in the artifact detector slot (8)

That said, if you try to take out the pistol equipped in the detector slot, the game will crash. If you equip the pistol in the binocular slot, you won't be able to use it at the same time as the artifact detector (taking out the detector then the pistol in the binoc slot simply holsters the detectors, then takes out the pistol)

The only way to equip three guns then is to edit your pistol to fit either in the binoc or knife slot. IMO the binoc slot is better if you want to be combat effective as it keeps the knife on a hotkey

Note that if you fit your pistol in either of the knife or binoc slots, you won't be able to fit a silencer on it, I wonder why that is. Also that the slot change will only work on guns spawned (i.e. spawned through cheat or bought at a trader) AFTER doing the modification

Although In the light of my research, I think all the CoM guy did is give knife and binoc slots a place in the UI under the weapon slots, and make pistols go in the binoc slot like I did. CoC already have those slots, but the equipped stuff stays in the "backpack". I doubt he'll be able to put a silencer on that pistol.

Or maybe it's because the silencer shit is contexual and activates only if you have a dedicated slot in the UI separate from the backpack, idk

CoM looks neat in that it brings mutant meat cooking from Misery, it was the only thing I actually liked in that mod, to have to hunt your food.

That's not necessarily how it works, you're reading the numbers by themselves but not what those numbers represent. A 1.0 value for the first of those 3 values represents 100% damage. At one point in earlier builds I had it higher than 100%, but it wasn't necessary because the total weapon damage was calibrated to work in conjunction with the m_stalker damage.

The third value, (out of the 3 values for bones) in that image posted above is bleeding. I gave somewhat unrealistic bleeding levels for stuff like fingers and toes, but the the bleeding values for the legs and torso are higher than in the arms, mostly because of internal organs, and the major arteries in the legs and the effect of gravity.

It wasn't a well thought out system, I wasn't going for milsim tier, but then again Stalker has very limited bones, like for instance how the spine bone covers a larger area, front and back of NPCs, so there isn't much to work with.

The basic principle of it was that the centerline from the torso up would take the most damage, and that principle worked far better than vanilla.

If I had to revise a damage system I'd put significantly less damage to limbs offset by stronger bleeding.

There's no fucking difference between a quicksave and a manual save other than you get to pick the name for the late. It's the same code that's being called to create the save in both cases.

The only possible problem is if you create a save before the load itself had finished initializing. OP2 has code that kills you if you try to create a save less than 30 secs after you load, bUT most mods don't need that.

Save corruption doesn't have anything to do with quicksaves.

Well I have no fucking idea what fixed it because I didn't really do anything, but now it doesn't crash. Tried to load an old autosave from Garbage and instead of covering with the duty guys up north during a convenient emission I dashed into Rostok, and sprinted towards the town while staring into the ground since I remembered that I always crashed on approaching that weird anomaly that covered the dead stalker by the truck, so I thought that I might aswell try to look away from it, and made it into the town just as the emission started to hurt

I have no idea what the fuck is going on, why it crashed over and over again at the same place or why it suddenly works

It's in alife.ltx in your config folder.

The line you're looking for is switch_distance, which dictates the distance NPCs are turned on. Set the distance to 10 and it will only load NPCs ~10 meters from you. See if massively dropping the switch distance will allow you to walk through rostok without crashing.

Joint Pak 2 is pretty hard. Do like anon says and start on Stalker difficulty, which is pretty much the same as master in vanilla. The mod is 100s of hours long and you will get OP gear. The higher difficulties are for when you want to up the challenge.

A LOT of things in Joint Pak 2 are tied to that difficulty, not the very few things in vanilla or most mods. For eg., try the initial cave in easy, stalker, and master difficulites and see the difference in spawn types and amounts. Or see the amount of anomalies in Cordon change between stalker and master. There's a lot of such changes tied to difficulty in Joint Pak 2, not in any other soup.

I downloaded Joint Pak 2 from the OP link, and installed it accordingly.

After I merge the mod data into the game's directory and try to start the game it just crashes after the little splash screen of stalkers chilling around a campfire in the snow.
I first installed the mod on my Steam version (1.006), but I got this problem, so I thought I'd try it with a pirated version separate from Steam (GOG version 1.006) but got the same issue there.

Can't even start the game, anyone know what's wrong?

Yeah Scavs are weird at the moment apparently. They only seem to appear when the players fuck up/make a lot of noise but I'm not sure. There does seem to be an alright amount of them but they need to make the AI good (also don't give them intrinsic night vision that's dumb).

If you mean that in-game cc thing, tried it myself and it didn't work for me. In the end I decompiled the original gamedata chunks, got the dialogues out and replaced them where necessary. Game already has plenty of Russian speak left undubbed so not all of it had to be copied. Just don't delete the mod folder since it has mod specific files in there and it will crash the game if removed.

From my experience, it's exactly as I described. I usually see the flinch if I hit them in the arms (easy to do, especially when they're pointing a gun at you), and continuing to shoot there will have no effect for the remainder of the animation. If I can't see their head for some reason, I just go for the legs when they're flinching.

This is where a lot of bullet sponge complaints come from, I think. It got way easier for me once I picked up this bit of info. I'm not sure if anyone has done solid testing on it, however.

Difficulties change three things in SoC:

1) They modify the player's base resistances. Novice = High, Stalker = Medium, Veteran = Low, Master = None. The absolute values are shown in pic related. 0.50 means 50% damage taken, 1.0 means 100% damage taken, and so on.
2) There is a dice-roll effect when a projectile intersects with the player's hitbox. On Novice, they have an 80% chance of not getting through, 30% chance on Stalker, 40% chance on Veteran, 50% chance on Master.
3) Weapon damage is lowered as you go up in difficulty. This affects both the player and all human NPCs. For example, the AK74 has a hit_value (damage) of 0.35, 0.39, 0.42, 0.45. Higher is more damage. Now, the damage is actually calculated backwards, so it would be: Master - Veteran - Stalker - Novice.

But wait, doesn't that contradict the "common knowledge" about enemies being LESS bullet spongy on Master? Yes, yes it does. Enemies take longer to kill as you go up in difficulty, but the player takes significantly more damage from weapons, even though the weapon damage has been dropped due to the damage calc. Let's say the player removes all armor, and an enemy shoots them 10 times point blank with an AK74 clipped into his chest.

On Novice, an average of 2 shots is going to make it through, and then that base damage of 0.45 is going to be cut in half by the player's base armor for about 0.45 damage. On Master, an average of 5 shots are going to make it through, and even though their base damage is 0.35, the player has zero base armor anymore, so the player will take about 1.75 damage which is lethal.

Hopefully that's enlightening for you. There's a lot of bullshit myths about STALKER, and most of the fags in these generals have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

I'm about 50/50 on this. There are times when I've taken a single shot at long range that did ~60% of my HP, and then there are times where I've taken burst at close range from the same gun, same armor, that has dealt only ~90% of my HP, and since the player's bones either take 1.0 (100% damage) or 0.0 (0% damage), meaning there is no headshot multiplier, honestly the only thing I can think of would be TTA.

NPCs don't feel cheated IMO, they're just a lot more consistent

before, a guy with an AK could miss his entire mag on a boar that's running at him in a straight line

now, half the rounds connect on average, so one mutant is not much of a threat but several is ripperinos.

This new power could be balanced by setting the mutant population higher than the stalker population in the settings so on average, stalkers will have to deal with more mutants. They'll kill more, but there will be more to kill anyway and they'll get overrun on the regular even though they kill a bunch

that's the idea anyway. After some testing, I think the main problem is that mutants seem to deal fuckall damage to NPCs. I just saw an ecologist guard facetank a pseudogiant for two magdumps and a full reload of his SVT-40

To take an extreme example, in STCoP the M95 with its massive and expensive .50BMG rounds has 1.5 hit_power (so 150 damage) . The Makarov's tiny and comparatively slow 9x18 rounds have 0.35 hit power (or 35 damage), which is just under a quarter that of the .50BMG.

Now .50BMG typically has around 13,500ft/lbs of energy.

9x18 is under 240ft/lbs of energy, which is 1.7% of that of the .50bmg. You read that right, one-point-seven fucking percent.

As I said, the values are fucked up from a realism point of view, so short of doing a pass over literally every single weapon, the easiest way to get realistic feeling guns is to just tweak the locational damage multipliers on humans and mutants, while if you just remove the time_to_hit you have rapid fire weapons outclassing big-bore, slow RoF weapons which isn't good gameplay.

I just made the trek back from Zaton to Dead City, it's late at night and I'm in the merc base dumping my loot and getting ready to sleep until morning so I can head off to Yantar to remove eco scum. A mission just pops up "defend the farm from the mutants" and it's right down the street from the merc base. Sure, why not.

I spot one flesh in the distance and pop him, and now I can see the quest marker moving towards the merc base on a parallel street, so I move to intercept, turning down the side street.... and see literally like dozens of fucking fleshes POURING down the street towards the merc base. I didn't have any grenades and I panicked since I didn't want the merc base to get wiped out, so I just ran in the street and started knifing as many as I could on the way back to the base.

Lots of gunfire, and as I get there the fleshes are just mowing everyone down (except the trader and repair guy who apparently give zero fucks), and the ones that were still pouring in behind me are now no longer ignoring me and are hostile, and they kill me in about a second of simultaneous attacks. RIP another ironman run.

What the fuck happened there? I'm not even mad, I've just never seen anything like that happen before. I wonder if one of the mods causes that, or if that can happen in vanilla CoC.

I had weird save corruption in the army warehouses with AMKAE, so I loaded a save I made before zoning and simply avoided the warehouses for a few days, doing quests and transmuting. It fixed itself apparently, since it was fine after I gave AW a shot again. The emission got stuck, probably.

You could in theory open every single stash in the world and still not get all three kits, as they're in the Rare and Extremely Rare treasure categories and as far as I know there aren't any placed out there in the world. I would just add the toolkits to the merchant of your choice's item pool.

Nigga in my previous save I ended up with almost 3 of every tool kit after already giving a set to at least 2 mechanics.
And I already have 2 advanced kits in this save. They grow on trees. I just have to figure out a way to reach that stash without being asked if I want to go fuck myself or not. Its not even as much about the toolkit as it is about my autism not permitting me to leave a stash unopened now.

Anyone else got this issue with WeaponGulash, Itemsoup and Outfit Addon? 98% icons work for me except a very few, for example this suit and some gasmasks like the Respirator and GP-5. Any reason why THEY don't work? After all the patches.

Okay, so let's say you were just using STCoP, your ui_icon_equipment.dds would look like pic related.

What we want are the X/Y coordinates (in 50 pixel steps) of the slot BEFORE your texture.

So for the Heavy SEVA, that would be 2550 and 1700. Divide these by 50 and we have 51x, 34y, which are the correct coordinates.

at the very start at the checkpoint entering the area on the way to turn off antenna, can't push further ahead blowout rekts my aim and theres still monolith hanging out past it. Also the blowout in army warehouses is bugged and lasted 15+ minutes before I got shot through a wall and died.

yes. i read it, and i know that is your problem

weapon goulash is based on stcop, and has
stcop included.
so yes you are using stcop and you needed to use outfit addons stcop patch when installing outfit addon for weapon goulash.

easiest way to fix it is to open outfit addon 1.4.4 archive, and take all the stuff from here
Outfit_Addon_1.4.4\STCoPWP Patch\gamedata\configs\

put it in your gamedata folder.

I had this issue too.

Also, why are so many of the AK variants in WeaponGulash without scopes? I know most of the models lack the dovetail mount, but it shouldn't be hard to clone the one model that does have the dovetail mount and can use scopes into using different magazine skins. It's 2 simple .ogf edits.

A whole bunch of pistols also don't use silencers and this drives me crazy.

AKMS has a dovetail mount, I'm using one right now. Ignore broken icons here I fixed them but you can see the weapon in my main slot. Other than that I have the same complaint as you do.

All you have to do is open them in a hex editor, copy the filepath of the .dds that it uses and repaste it in with a slightly different filename with exactly the same characters.

In meshviewer I can see which separate mag skins they may use filename & all, so I'll probably throw a few AK-74s in there and point them to a few of the different skins since I figure I want a bunch with Izhmash plum mags and black poly mags.

If I could do that then I could probably do the same with the AK-74M and the AK-105/x variants.

If the skins are different I can just recolor them too.

yes, except when you do that, the texture name has to be the same length. otherwise the size of the file changes and it either won't work or will cause a crash. i forget which.

Yes I know that, I mentioned that.

I haven't downloaded the SDK, but the tried and true method should surely work.

I wonder if all of the AKs use different mag textures, but then again even if they didn't it would be trivial. I could probably do the AK-12 into using 3 skins as well as the 74M, the 105, the 74Us, and all of the ones without optics.

Speaking of that, I don't know why so many of the 74Us have the metal mags, those are polish mags. They're neither Tula nor Izhmash in origin.

Got sick of spending 5+ minutes rerolling trader inventories with quicksave+quickload every time I wanted to restock rare ammo, so I raised their percent chance to stock each ammo type to 100%. Prices are unchanged, and the amount of stacks they carry is unchanged. Basically, every trader that can stock ammo, can stock ALL ammo, they just have a maximum amount of stacks they can carry, say 4 stacks of 5.45 AP, and then a percent chance per stack that it rolls. So with "ammo_5.45x39_ap = 3, 0.29" every time you load the game it would roll dice three times with a 29% chance to stock a stack of 5.45 AP ammo. I changed it to "ammo_5.45x39_ap = 3, 1" which means it now has a 100% chance of stocking all three stacks. Really quick and easy change, nothing else is fucked with.

This is for CoC + STCoP only. Traders affected are: Barman, Duty (base), Freedom (base), Owl, Monolith (base), Bandit (base), Military (base), Spore, Mercenary (base), Sid, and Hawaiian.
