Depending on how well I tackle the frontline units around Brest I should be able to link 2nd panzer with 3rd. They'll be in position to loop around minsk on turn 2. The biggest concern is that the pocket will become to large and unmanageable, but I will be attempting to "plug the holes" with infantry near the front and with motorized "not so near the front".

second dude here, managed to reach minsk but it seems heavily defended and I wasn't able to encircle the forces south of Minsk. I did clear up the main pocket quite easily and I can reach vitebesk with my stranded panzer division, but I bet its defended and I won't be able to break them

Minsk was a lot harder to take than I thought so I had to throw everything I had to take it on the last turn. I lost a lot of vehicles on the Minsk assault, so thats probably where the Soviets got the bonus victory points to overtake mine. While the game says its a draw, I consider it a decisive victory since I prefer to play as the Soviets and I now have a better understanding of axis encirclement, panzer capabilities, and Soviets defenses in 41' :^)

This is going to end like the aurora incident

So I finally made it to the end of turn 1, will be waiting for the Russian turn now. As it stands I will mp up the last remnants of the pockets, use my southwestern elements to rus east and cut of any reinforcements to minsk/smolensk from the south. Pincer my panzer elements around the east of minsk and use my motrized divisions to hammer into it from the west.

It was the antitank rifle the Germans used, it used unique rounds that had no use in any other weapons. The scenario I am playing is set before the panzershreck came into use. There wasn't even a need for the panzershreck at the start of the war, there was no armor that required that amount of penetration.

in the Mediterranean they're only powerful if you're unable to intercept them, which happened to national france in my game
i had a naval battle with them which sunk basically my entire fleet but led to theirs staying in port for the rest of the game, while British naval bombers in stacks of 8 relentlessly attacked the ports and racked up a ridiculous amount of kills, something like 40 ships sunk

The situation at the end of turn 1 of the Russians.

They fought some bloody battles in an attempt to break out units of the pocket. They somewhat managed, but nothing that can not be recontained.

In the north some retreating soviets cut of my supply lines, but these too can be reestablished.

In the south one cheeky cunt division cuts of the railroad connection to my front troops. There is also an exodus of Soviets heading towards the Dnepr, I don't think I will be able to encircle these units.

Minsk can most likely be taken this turn with my motorized elements. The panzer elements might be able to take the eastern most objectives, or at the very least reach their outskirts. Rounding up the last few Russians behind my lines should be an easy enough task.

All in all looking pretty good.

Plan for this turn is pretty straightforward "Drang nach Osten". Quick loopback to destroy remianing elements of the pockets.

Rush 2nd panzer north of pripyat marshes to cut of retreating Soviet's route over the Dnepr.

3rd panzer tasked with looping north around minsk and taking Mogilby. Motorized tasked with taking Minsk proper.

Last but not least in the north the 9th army will be tasked with taking Vilnius.

At the end of this turn I expect to be in a great position to deal the final blow in turn 3.
