Make of that what you will as far as what the series will actually be about. Locations and general setting are very likely to be based on the game (Arcadia, Blackwell and such), cast is probably also based directly on the game, story and plot might not be.

Release is set for some time next year (pic related).

I do not have any hopes, and expect it will be quite terrible indeed - especially if they try to re-create it close-to-source: it already is a cinematic experience - with some twists on it; re-translating it onto the TV screen would if anything only take away from this experience, not give it anything.

I think it will have Max and Chloe since they're the center of the story. But at this point anything is possible.
Just have to watch for news and maybe try sending some emails/tweets to people involved in the project that end game's ending leave a lot to be desired and just a re-telling of the game would be inferior and a waste.

The only rebuttal is: this is magic, magical realism - it doesn't have to make sense. Or: this is a story, these are narrative devices and must serve above all narrative purposes - not logic.

Which are not invalid things to argue, but for 1. don't change anything about the logically inconsistent and unsatisfactory conclusion to the time travel lore, and therefore the validity of criticism regarding this as part of a product - and 2., if anything, are ultimately used to serve narrative purposes not few would and have argued are not worthwhile purposes, but on the contrary, work against the main narrative in some ways. Like contriving drama and tragedy that goes beyond characters and the character-driven issues the game was so good at developing narratively.

Eh, it's not all a complete mess. There's definitely a lot of consistent things they managed to pull off, like the timeline logic throughout, for the most part.

It's not satisfyingly consistent, logically or even just inherently, but above all it sucks that they then used this inconsistent system to have the finale pivot on. It would still kind of be a letdown, but I could more than live with getting no reveal for any of the supernatural crap had they not have the finale and narrative conclusion revolve all around it instead of what the story had been so mostly about before: characters, smaller scopes, interpersonal things. I get what you are saying, but it's not like they did not have any idea at all what they were doing. They have a pretty clear message behind the endings. There is a narrative function there, a concept. I agree that it is not developed or executed well, well-written or fitting for the narrative (at least not how it is shown), it lacks impact and emotional (as well as logical) "appreciability", but they did not just sit down and think "Ok, we have these well-developed characters that a lot of people like - how can we make the most meaninglessly cruel ending and play on that investment of our audience?" - yes, they did play on tragedy and specifically targeted the emotional investment to evoke emotional response, sometimes contrivedly so, but they did also have meaning behind their story, even the finale of it - even final meaning pertaining the characters (if primarily Max).

And so while I think the meaning, ultimately, does not translate well, and have long since established a meaning for me that I do not think they sat down and really thought about deeply either, I don't think it's complete bullshit.

It's a flawed finale - gravely so in some respects - and I did not like it and would wish and had hoped for so much more and better from it, but I never thought to deny it as part of the story. I'm not in on that "'When's Episode 5 coming out?'; "Close the game in Gallery.'" sentiment. I did not like the finale, but I accept it, see what they were trying to do, and have derived meaning from it that I hold dear.

I accept other people's anger at and rejection of the finale too though, I was frustrated for a considerable time myself. And I accept even that of those that are to this day.

My thought are Rachel died and became a guardian of the area due to her connection to the Natives.
But when she died she had so much energy and anger towards Arcadia Bay that it created the conditions for a storm to brew and appear down the line. Rachel also realized Chloe was going to die because of Nathan. So Rachel found Max, gave her a vision of the storm as a warning, then gave her the power (Through the appearance of the butterfly) to save and actually help Chloe. Her own way of apologizing for not being truthful, and allowing Max and Chloe to find the truth about everything and to be happy together.

All of the OST music creates an awesome and indescribable mood. It's somber, mysterious, full of longing, but also very happy.
The end song Max & Chloe creates that feeling the most for me. Thinking of a great adventure (for the most part) and knowing I helped put them on the path for a good future together, as well as helping many other characters.

They are such simple pieces too for the most part, but they are memorable and effective.

Not really. 99% of the game points to how Max's destiny was to save Chloe and that they would deal with the storm together.
There is only a handful of lines throughout the entire game to say otherwise. And even those are posed as questions of "Maybe" and are not given a lot of proof or time to be elaborated on.

Differing opinions would be what people have here: where we can civilly discuss things such as characters, themes, and events. We can disagree, but at least there's respect and supporting our statements.
