Oh cool, this game has a general. May I ask why? It probably has some really neat multiplayer. Anyways, I recently picked up the game and I want to spec into guns. Probably heavy weaponry, maybe explosives? And I don't mind having melee as a secondary if it's something large or has high utility. Having a huge gun and a shield would be optimal, I think that's the class that Lin uses. But for the most part I need something big and angry, that either shoots fast as hell with crazy DPS, or hits really hard. Rifles are fine as long as they're not snipers, unless those are actually fun or super good. What ranged classes do you guys reccommend? I'm gonna read the OP after this post, just tell me what you guys like.

I'm new to the game, and there are a few classes I'm interested in. Specifically, those are Bastion Warrior, Astral Crusader and Duelist. Can you guys tell me a bit more about these classes, their play styles and what it's like on the journey to unlocking them? I want as much information as possible before I move away from Drifter and pick my first REAL class. Also, how long does it take to level up a class, anyways?

You might suggest I wing it and roll with Striker, because it chains into two different classes I would like, but you never know if Astral Crusader will end up being my dream class. What are Javelins and how do they work? Do they have range or are they just sticks you poke people with?

Early on you want to use it ASAP since the cooldown is long. Try to do it after a melee art so to take advantage of Fast Forward.
Once your counter is high enough, you can wait for the secondary cooldown most times.
If you see an enemy charging a multihit attack, use it there, regardless of secondary or not.

The important part about Astro isn't the beam boost, is the beam reflect.
Add augs for the other 5 reflect types and you're invincible outside of reflect-piercing attacks.

Today I finally defeated the Telethia and completed the survey. I tried my hand next at Pharsis and the mech summoned on the peak northwest of Primordia, I had some troubles until I just deceided to farm gp before starting the actual fights, and it turns out overdrive made the fights almost too easy.
Probably I'll start playing another game now, I don't think there are too many challenges left in Xenoblade X and my backlog has only grown in this last couple of months.

The only one you're missing is Reflect: Gravity, which is dropped by Pharsis. Not sure if Gradivus uses Gravity attacks.
You can do Pharsis easily with Longsword+Memewalker, but since you seem to be struggling with the ghosutowalka timing, it may be challenging.

Missions, soul voice, and ground combat, because easier chance to get soul voices. Also planning out on who to focus when it comes to affinity missions. So if Doug affinity missions comes after the next chapter then focus on him till you get that heart. Always prioritze who's affinity mission comes after the next chapter, and only aim for said heart, so you can spread to other characters affinity missions.
