All I want is 256 players on a Japan/Australia sized map
Is that too much to ask for in 2016
>is the warhammer going to be decent?
Yes, as long as you:
1) Forgo the shitty PPC quirks, fuck that shit.
2) Peek AROUND obstacles, not over them, as your weapons are fairly low slung.
Aside from the PPC quirk, its well suited to brawling.
What type of fucking retard actually buys clothing with gaming logos plastered all over it? And then goes on to willingly wear it?
Its invariably some tat from a child sweat-shop in Vietnam, with the job lot going to the lowest bidder, and with all the shitty manufacturing quality that entails.
Imagine wearing that cap out in public and someone asking you who's logo that is... "hur hur, its not a company logo, its a House Icon from my online game where I shoot other people while masturbating in my stompy robit."
Its on the same level as those sort of people who fill their houses with shitty, massively overpriced figurines from their crappy Japanese cartoons and seem to think this is a sensible way to spend their money.
Damnnnnn, I never realised I was supposed to look so FABULOUS while piloting my Mech.
Why isnt there more vanity mirror cockpit ornaments so I can admire myself in my leather thong all match?
>only had like 30% of the developers' care put into it.
I'd say thats a very high estimate given how long it took them to find someone who could work on the UT3 engine, its not exactly an uncommon skill.
>All of these games have the potential to just experiment and crank up the map size and player count. Why don't they
Because jacking up the player count is an exponentially larger hit to the netcode every time you add just one player to the mix.
DOUBLING the current amount would be a massive increase in the amount of data the players needed to share with every other player, all the time, regarding movement, positioning, firing, hit registration, etc. Just ask any MW:LL player how "fun" the Cryengine netcode can be when you're playing on a 64-player server. Ghost shells, warping, hits not registering, spotting not working correctly, etc.
>acceptable to shoot my teammates
Whenever you're on a corner and some Med or Light fuckwit decides to park his stupid ass in front of your face in your LoS to the enemy.
Yes, you could move around him, but a cooldown cycle on your weapons is quicker and more likely to remind him not to stand in front of an assault in future.
>see people posting about Hawken
>Must have changed
>log in for the first time since July 2013
>play a bit
>there is literally nothing new since then
Seriously, same maps, same Mechs, same Meta.
Why are people still posting about this dead game?
You sound like you got more out of the game than I ever did, pic related.
Don't forget, HAWKEN is still in Early Access! All these concerns will be addressed as the game is developed!
Did anybody else get a chance to play in the pods? There was a place near me that I only got a chance to go to once before it closed down
Feel free to post a screenshot of your, clearly superior, chosen Medium mech stats.
I want to get a mech with a focus on LRMs. Probably clan, since the obvious choice for IS would be the Catapult I guess.
I was thinking of getting the HBK-IIC to run the B for LRMs, but then I kept seeing that Mad Dog is good for it and the 6 LRM5 load out looks hilarious when chain fired...
So who's going to tell him that in the real world, everywhere barring the recent shit from the gaming industry a company produces AND FINISHED a product before selling it. However as brand names alone can easily con people out of cash all the bastards now produce Pre purchase betas and has made buying games as dodgey as playing the pokies, this time it'll be a good and complete product, this time for sure...
And people support this idea of pretending conned investors are players buying "fun" one grabdeal at a time as a good whole hearted support the works excuse that makes it okay for consumers. forever in debt for buying something is considered the norm now, fuck!
>I want to get a mech with a focus on LRMs.
What you're actually saying here is that you want to be a complete waste of a slot and a disservice to your team?
LRM spam is pointless apart from to rack up C-Bills as long as you dont mind losing. Spamming salvos onto mechs your retarded allies can barely keep locked for more than 2 seconds, who will then walk back into cover, eating at LEAST half your salvo, not accounting for AMS, etc is a waste of time. You're just spreading your damage across a mechs hitboxes and going nothing to help your team.
If you want to spam missiles, earn C-Bills, and help your team at the same time, build a Splatcrow or similar, at least you'll be with your allies in a group doing something useful in that you get to soak up a few salvos from the enemy mechs at the same time and spread the damage across your team more evenly.
>go to buy paints to make my Mech pretty
fuck that then, I'll just stay green.
you're doing fine
when i was new i shot for 200 damage a match, now 300 (though i've had plenty of 800+ games in mediums, i play stormcrow and shadowcat)
do your best to stay alive for as long as possible because the longer you are alive the more damage you will do particularly with a mech like trial atlas
Well I didn't intend to sit back spamming all match, I think I should of mentioned I don't want to just boat nothing but LRMs. I'd run around actively finding targets to use my lasers on and just use the LRMs when someone is about to pop out of sight or is in the open. So saying focus on LRMs was probably wrong, and that LRM5 Mad Dog would be out (but it still looks fun).
I played trials for most of my cadet bonus and I just couldn't get into brawling, and I wasn't doing too hot with Lights either. I have seen people saying that streak/splat 'mechs are crazy good though.
stormcrow or timber wolf would work well, if for no other reason that they work well for everything while being fast and durable
just drop a couple lrm15s on them and you'll have plenty of space for whatever else you could want
A little on the mediocre side, but I'm not going to complain about an Atlas that does 400 damage. There are people who do fucking under 300 damage in their Assault mechs and that's ridiculous. As you get better you should be averaging closer to 600-700 damage in an Assault, but for a beginner I guess 400 is alright.
>HAWKEN is still in Early Access!
Fucking hell, talk about lying to your customers.
FS9-A, BJ-1X and KGC-000B
What else should I buy to fill up my fourth mech slot? Figure I'll take these four into House CW and earn a few mechbay slots. I might just buy another Blackjack, but it might be nice to have more variety in terms of frames.
Clan hunches are so squishy you shouldn't play them until they get a buff.
You have something like 80-85 tons for that fourth slot. You could probably pick up an AWS-8Q or the BLR-1S for long range ppcs or erlls.
Remember all those lrms here plz keep lox? See above. ECM/Radar deprivation helps too.
It sorta does. Scrub green usually means new person/new mech. That is an easy kill if you do not look at the loadout. So some dumb shits will tunnel vision on a perceived easy kill and chase you. The purple also doesnt visually stick out as much as say neon pink and white or whatever. But also, its an old meme where one of our best players would take, say, a commando, and sit under a direwolf and srm it in the dick until it dies.
Good players do not give a fuck what color you are, but there are some serious steering wheel underhivers. ECM helps out a by keeping you out of lock on range from way out, unless TAGged. Radar derp will kill any lock on once you break line of sight. Use this to reposition and live longer.
>when you run out of AC/20 ammo and have to use your triple LPL
Also managed to get my arm to red, my head to orange and my torso to orange without ever losing full armor on them just from running override and getting really greedy for damage/kills. I think it paid off, at least.
Fuck sake, playing an assault in a random matchup is a thing of suffering.
"Push" you say. Do they push? Fuck no, you only outnumber them by 3 mechs, probably best to turn around and run away instead of helping your assault.
>realize we're going to lose by base cap
>face to face with an Atlas
>hit overdrive and go mad minute on his ass
>almost manage to kill him before the base is capped
I'm 90% sure I would have melted myself but still, hot fucking damn do I do DPS.
>mfw a guy in a BJ-1DC tells me the biggest engine it can fit is a 230
how do they live with being so slow?
You don't understand dude, I'm literally incapable of free thought. I need someone to hold my hand and show me what the most meta possible Awesome build is so I can ream as much asshole as is physically possible with the frame.
Build around quirks nigga. Does it have fat ppc buffs? stick four of the fucking things on and wreck faces at long range. Shit like that. The turbo matress is not for the faint of heart.
>none of them
The awesome is statistically the best mech in the game.
>Its hilarious seeing people bitch about lrms. They are a mild annoyance at best.
I remember back in the day they flew so fast AMS didn't do jack shit and it literally took them under a second to go max range. The days of hiding in the trenches behind mountians huddling together so the shitter next to you can take all the damage from the LRMs.
The good days.
Still has zero sources cited on it. Ergo the graph is for little more then just show. Pulling it without context does more harm than good.
I could photoshop the same thing to have it claim that the Thunderbolt is rated 99% most efficient Assault mech in the game and it would have the same credibility as that.
Yes I know the Thunderbolt is a heavy, that's the point.
No, because even when they are used right they're still not worth it compared to direct fire weapons.
LRMs do not get used one iota in the comp scene, and it's because they're awful. This has been a constant rule of this game since 2012.
>every time i see the abbreviation BJ i think of blowjob because that's all they seem to be good for
Are there fun mwo builds which are also viable at the middle and high tiers? I've been having fun while kicking ass with this underspecialized shaq and I would like to know if it's only working because lol tier 4.
>censoring your name
Ha what a little prissy faggot
>C-AC20 on a Mad dog with low hung arms
I will NEVER EVER let anyone forget about the one time I did good in a BJ-1X
How come? Hammering the hillside / building / map-prop seems like a waste of ammo. Letting them off at medium range when they can't get into cover seems best for me so far.
Genuine question because I'm new.
Thats exactly how to do lrm suport. Holy shit most old shitters dont know how to play correctly. You push with yourr team at 500m or so and tag makes sure you cut thu ecm. Fags that sit behind a hill at 1000m are a waste of tonnage and teammates.
What goes through someones head, when they make a build like this?
Surprising quantities of fun being mined, actually.
>Basically an even more shitter version of the Jaegermech A stock
Ideally, you're in the 300-500m range when launching, and there's nothing wrong with having a decent brace of ML/MPL/ERML to dose things with while you're there.
Besides, they open holes for your missiles to grind up or finish off cored sections without wasting ammo.
And don't freak on giving up a hardpoint for NARC, either. At least on Clan boats, since having an almost uninteruptable lock can mean poking once and raining on a target from cover until it runs out.
LRM 5s and AC 2s maximise the dps to tonnage ratio among LRMs and ACs. Of course that ignores the bad problems with the heat penalty, pathetic ams penetration, the AC2s needing line of sight, and the LRMs wanting not to have line of sight.
What are the best mad dog builds? I have two to outfit and dont want both to be http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=212&l=89ceaa9275a615341d8f387ff6379ebadb8fadca
>he doesn't have a full module set for each mech
>being space poor in general
How do I not suck with SSRM's? I just put some on a Stormcrow and now I can hardly get any hits in because of the lock delay is at odds with the way I've found success in the past few days by peeking and sniping with lasers.
>literally living in a jenner hole
>wondering why I don't have more than one set of modules
>Starbound is still early access
>greg playing with Shimmy
Greg did you get demoted to quadruple F team again?
Really damn late but
Shaq 2K is alright for meta play due to high energy hardpoints. Either go all in for big long range or go for brawling. The griffin outshines the shaq due to chassis quirks but the 2K is still really damn good.
Well meme'd Pig.
>These are the builds on meta mechs
It makes so much sense now. Reminder that this build is garbo bait, and another reason to take metamechs builds with a grain of salt.
What in the ever loving fuck is this shit? Are there this many funny clan designs on metamechs? The IS recipes are pretty much spot on with adjust salt to taste from what i have seen.
I pointed out the shit builds on MetaMechs like a month ago, and some asshole straight up told me "hur dur, the guy that builds them is super gud, ur just shit and don't see their value".
Wait, its just one dude? Fucking hell that is bad. No wonder the IS mechs are alright, all the good builds are copy pasta from years of gameplay. Fuck, we need to have the KONG approved builds google doc updated.
Don't overcomplicate things and don't run xl crabs.
>Extra heatsinks on an icecold build
Never use an XL with a KGC. It is one of the most unsafe mechs due to its shape and hitboxes.
You just need the word of a Warboss and that shit is now law. Good builds will prove themselves in competent hands. I think Haracuck, Dudeass and Greg are the remains of our decent old playerbase. Vass is our totem shitposting loremaster.
>he thinks it's a cool running build
>attempting to make builds
Everyone in the a-team likes very different builds and very different weapon types due to their playing styles. There's very little consensus on top builds for most mechs with only a few obvious exceptions.
I dont play that often so who I see is usually posting on here. What I am saying is we dont have a clear top tier personality to rally around anymore who acts as a "this is how shit works and let me show you by getting quad digit scores" sage.
The friendslist graveyard is extensive,I feel like a WW2 vet looking at that shit.
You are trying to do too many things at once. Stop. Do you want to brawl, or do you want to be mid/long ranged focused?
>clear top tier personality to rally around
yeah no this isn't how Kong works and the top players all have their own builds and styles
Not only that but only some people namefag
Pretty much this >>128835602
If you specialize in everything, you specialize in nothing. ERLL is for a different architype, and you're just wasting heat by using them.
Here's a low-cost intermediate build you could use while keeping the sunk cost XL, but the end build will be a STD 325
BUT KONG IS A MERITOCRACY
SOME WOULD ARGUE that it's a waste of tonnage, but in your situation with an XL it's more like a crutch. You should know what positions to avoid to not being annihilated by lurmspam, but since you probably don't have speed tweak, along with an XL, it's probably helpful at this stage. It's better to have a light or fast medium with dual AMS to do that work for you, but you can't guarantee that in pugland.
Youre talking to someone who has been around since the concept of a gorillion dollars was the sole motivation for the name of Kong. Im not even sure /vg/ was a thing when this group was actually conceived. Yes, some people namefag(and they have consistently), which is completely acceptable on this general. but I also look at scorescreens and often time people post anon while displaying the end game screen.
I am not saying playstyle does not factor into this at all, but there are objectively good things to do with certain mechs, certain mechs are total shit no matter what, and there are optimal things to do because of meta.
One AMS by itslef is useless, if a bunch are carrying it, then AMS is a net of FUCK YOUR MISSLES. But lrms have been nerfed where good positioning means AMS is no longer necessary.
Jack of all trades mechs are great in the tabletop game, they do not work in fps high alpha games. The idea itself isnt wrong, but the way things are setup just fuck you over. specialization is key and this game, like other MW games, goes to long range, high alpha builds.
Literally who are you?
Of course there are objectively good mechs, and objectively good builds and their nega-counterparts, objectively shit mechs and objectively shit builds, but any decent player knows that along with what's meta.
Nu-konglets that get on Mumble receive advice and go through the trial by fire.
Those venerable oldfags that still play know what they're doing.
So I don't really get your point here by saying "I've been here since the dawn of Kong." You just sound like Connor or that Sofakingfuerte faggot.
Who are you replying to?
Memes aside, the whole A-team agenda has kind of ruined that dynamic of kong a long time ago.
>not namefagging in the current year
Alright, I've been using the Hellbringer for some time now and I'm starting to run into difficulties with it.
This is the current build I'm useing http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=230&l=439d58644aaa715fcfea367cdb4d892b2970a36d
I find that my damage output is stupid low at time when at range. I've thrown on a Gauss instead of the dual 5's and with it I can count on one hand the games it didn't blow up on me. With the auto cannons, it feels like that I get even less damage since its split due to clan bursts.
I'm unsure what to do with it at this point. Any advice you guys have would be appreciated.
I've honestly had really amazing games with this build. Not sure on how you feel about ER SL or UAC builds, but it does brawling and mid/short range poking pretty well
alternatively there's http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=231&l=08e9c8d3dcc58efd67b29838afbec106e34ce11c and http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=232&l=85188bedd5162c07315472855395f78a6ae4932d that work just as well
6 med pulse or 6 ER ML works too
Man glutes, you know only a few dare to become avatars of living memes.
I had a nice reply but then it got swallowed by the ether. So heres the rundown. I said we need to have a google.doc of approved builds. You funposted that kong cant come to a consensus about good builds. I waved my oldfag epeen around and you got defensive and now you support my claims that there should be obvious builds. Now you want to know exactly who I am to prove my old fag status. Well, its really simple Anon. I am Anon.
Its an old fix to an old problem. PPC/Goose used to be the meta. It is why you cant hit shit while you are JJing.
The HBR is an assym mech. The Gauss side has nothing in it anyways, aside from the Gauss.
Also adjust your armor values, cucklord. Do you want your heavy to get legged?
Why do you have so much back armor? That's partly why your gauss goes so quickly.
Now this build is still up to personal taste but it's the gist of goose + lasers.
You could get more gauss ammo and swap the TC1 for another DHS. You could adjust the front/back armor values a little. You could beef the arms up but they're mostly useless anyways.
Fuck off Greg
Yes yes, le anonymous oldfag with supposed "e-peen" who's too afraid to post his username.
I never disagreed that there should be obvious builds, but those are already REALLY obvious and are covered by that Lords google docs slideshow or Metemechs. There's no super sekrit Kong only builds.
Why create a "Kong builds spreadsheet" then? There's already other resources out there for the new players. The old players can't reference the same resources or other non-shit players from Kong.
Actual question here, do any of you actually enjoy those laser vomit builds, or just enjoy doing well? I can't run that shit, too boring for me.
I suggested the old kongdocs because metamechs is apparently way more shit than i thought possible. The mor ethings change the more it is necessary kong is the insane voice of reason in the shitstorm of bads. Plus, we get so many newfriends with shitbuilds that it should be a part of the OP because the forum standard is garbage.
You want to know how old I am? I used to Bro-op with sandshrew cause he was husbando tier. I told the original shits we shouldnt be elitist fucks, back when tourmaline was in alpha before even closed beta was even a thing. I supported kevin and his bots in the hope the game would get better. I used to drop with Lemmywinks and noblesse oblige, whom connor could never pronounce the same way any single time, ever. I got a refund on my 60$ of founder gold cause my computer decided to shit the bed and save me fromt his game. I omit my name because it so obviously burns you. You want to lash out at me, get others to do the same. Nah, fuck off, we will play together and be buddies.
This is honestly enough info to figure out who I am if you care enough.
Warhammer Cockpit + more previews of Hoth
Also those reused Marauder cockpit items, how weak
They're alright, ML+Goose builds are pretty fun to me though. Looking forward to whatever PPC love is apparently coming.
Nigger I literally don't know who you are or , but want to know why you're hiding while trying to project that "I'm a holier than thou art oldfag vibe" but remain anonymous.
I've played with literally all of the people you've listed and have been through the same shit except I got in at the tail end of closed beta due to not paying.
I'm the memer known as Accurs3D but I LITERALLY don't know who you are.
I'm getting that Battlecruiser vibe but you're probably not him. You don't type illegibly and post lewd animes like Icegryphon. Not enough typos Infernus to be Not enough REAL talk to be Spud. Pretty sure it's not Jomacdo or Krillian or GaiDaigouji or Valk or Tsyrker or Gorgatron , etc.
You are so invested in this. Just stop you manlet. If only haruko was here to call you a little faggot and dom you. Im even on the kong height/weight chart, fuckin hell man.
The thing is you do know me but I am usually a lurker and not vocal.
If you are Accurs then come on man, I have been around forever. I can be shitter or decent in mwo. I anon cause shits hilarious and for the intended reasons. Im not convinced you are Accurs btw.
But thanks for posting the wall of lost friends. I miss these dudes. I was pretty sure I liked Battlecruisers posts because we typed similarly and he wasnt awful and was a generally decent dude to be around.
>if only haruko were here
No girls (or wannabes) allowed. I'm sitting here on Mumble right now playing Runescape. Come @ me pham.
Still literally don't know who you are, must not be important or A-team material ;^).
Also w/e the height/weight chart says is inaccurate, I never even gave my measurements but of course Haruko wants to think I'm an obese manlet. Fuck them.
Why is the Warhammer being released on a Tuesday with the patch? Why didn't they push it slightly earlier or later so that it arrives on a weekend?
In other news, if James Mattis pilots a Mad Dog, what does Trump pilot?
Did I do bad? Plan on using the lasers over the LRMs, which I will use for guys out of position or in the open. Might have too much ammo for that job though.
Clear something up for me;
A Victor with an XL340 engine goes up to a maximum of 68.8kph.
A Zeus with an XL320 engine goes up to a maximum of 69.6kph.
Both mechs are an 80 ton chassis, though the Victors model is notably taller and wider than the Zeus' model.
So what gives?
LRM20 is practically nothing, IMO. It's not the worst build but you could do much better. You have too much LRM ammo for one. You could also fit in more ERMLs if you're really intending to use those over the LRMs.
I could drop two tons of ammo and change the right Torso to S, but to fit the stuff back in I'd have to drop Artemis... those locked jets are in the way.
Got a feeling if I'm going to do missile anything I'm better off just going SRM and getting in closer to the fight.
LRMs. Such a terrible choice. You might end up with a game like this.
In case you haven't guessed, I'm Brain Cancer in the first pic.
And clearly, I got into this Cataphract pilot's head. 4 medium lasers and AMS. On a 70-ton 'Mech. It's not quite the dumbest thing I've seen, but it's on the top list.
Killing it was a merciful act.
I can tell you that your stormcrow is one of the dumbest thing's i've seen... holy shit
>2 LRM 10's
sounds about right... that fight between you two must have been one hell of a special olympics
You would never be able to tell if you did before it was to late.
He was right about that, though.
Anyway, we could totally make a build list. The old fell into disuse because it was made back in the 'rebalance everything every patch'-days.
But the total shitmech and shitmech variants aren't getting listed.
No, I fucking hate lasers like you wouldn't believe. It's one of many reasons I avoid playing the game.
Of all the ebin jag builds, THIS is what people come up with?
Actually folded ammo. 50-60s mad science experiment that didn't go anywhere. Would probably be very possible to do with today's technology and modern materials.
How do people keep their mouse so steady to aim with? I think its my main thing holding me back right now.
I've mild RSI from 12 years of IT work, and holding my crosshair steady on a hit location while tracking a moving target isn't particularly easy. Anyone have any suggestions?
maybe a mouse with adjustable dpi? mine has an xXxmlg proxXx SNIPER BUTTON where my thumb is that lowers dpi when pressed, if that don't work get one of those mouse pads that has tits, you know the ones
Can't change my mouse unfortunately, use one of pic related.
Its absolutely fucking fantastic from stopping my wrist pain from flaring up, but unfortunately doesnt come with a DPI clutch.
Obviously I took measures to prevent it. I got sent on fucking courses by my employer so we could all learn correct posture, positioning and desk setup to avoid it. I have ergonomic keyboards and always used mice with wrist rests. Its just if you do something for that length of time your body just craps out.
You play games a lot kid? Spend a good few hours a day on your PC trolling people? You'll be in my position in 15 years time.
Get your laughs in now while its still funny kid.
I've been working IT sice 2008 and I've been playing PC games since I was in middle school.
Do you know why I don't have RSI? Cause I'm not a fucking retard and understand how my wrists work, how to properly position them and when to take breaks. Protip: your own body tells you what's right and wrong by becoming strained and uncomfortable, not some course run by a bottom feeding med school reject. You don't need a shitty overpriced 'ergonomic' keyboard to prevent it, you need a functioning brain.
I put my mouse and pad at the very edge of the table. My wrists always hang in the air unless the table and chair setup is awkward and I have to lean deeply inwards. I also use very high sensitivities with a grip that is efficient with small and precise movements.
What is this "carpal tunnel" that everyone keeps talking about?
>run up behind KGB while it's still making it's way to the battle.
>find 2 more the same game
>3 solo kills on Mr. Krabs in the first 5 minutes of the game
I'm running the old 3x UAC5, 3x ML Ilya Muromets build, but it seems to be severely under-performing. Back when I last used it it was pretty decent, but as it stands now I'm getting very low scores in it.
Any suggestions? Is there a different build I can try on the thing? The constant stream of damage from the UAC's doesn't seem to be worth having to be out of cover constantly to keep the chain-fire rolling.
I made this google doc ages ago but no one updated it. I probably made it too difficult.
If I'm feeling non-lazy I might scrape the archives for builds.
HIT AND FADE YO. But yeah, sorry to tell you but it's an antique now. I haven't played my elmo since 2013. IIRC it has AC5 qwirx, and the last build I used was 3ac5 1erppc. It was fun but still not that good.
Kakos uses 2LPL + 4SPL, but I've never understood that meme
Greg uses 2UAC5 + 6SL
6MPL just feels so good
It just irked me the contexts he would bring it up. Either to shut up newfags or people like connor, or to divert attention away from himself.
I don't like kaelus!
>HIT AND FADE YO. But yeah, sorry to tell you but it's an antique now.
Feels that way, hard to fade back to cover when you're as slow as this fat shit is.
I;ll have to consider picking up some other machine to print C-Bills.
How about you give me the link to the study you claim happened. Also, why do you pretend it's hard to aim in MWO? Maybe when you're moving at high speeds with high angular velocity.
Pic related, easy wins.
>Also more accurate
how the fuck can a trackball be more accurate through a range of motion like you get in mechwarrior when you constantly have to lift your fingers/thumb off the ball all the damn time to move the cursor further, apart from for the smallest of movements?
Theres a reason no-ones using them anymore.
>you constantly have to lift your fingers/thumb off the ball all the damn time to move the cursor further
Too low sensitivity. Also a shitty trackball. I can do a 360 easily using only one finger, in a horizontal motion. Can stop at any moment precisely where I want due to high quality sensors.
But then I also do CAD work, so I'm used to it.
>360 easily using only one finger, in a horizontal motion.
In a single finger swipe? So what you cannot do is fine control, like tracking an open CT on a mech, moving laterally across your screen.
You cant do BOTH large movements on a trackball with only one limit of travel of a finger, while at the same time doing fine motion, they are actions that are at opposite ends of the DPI scale.
>So what you cannot do is fine control, like tracking an open CT on a mech, moving laterally across your screen.
Absolutely can. You know how fine control you have over the tip of a pen with your hand? That's about how fine control gets with a trackball. And it's way more than enough to track perfectly.
>eating at the computer
So I'm new to the game and want a laser vomit long-range build.
I got a DireWolf based on the trial mech, and it overheats ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
How can I mitigate the heat issue? I have 6 ERLL's and everything else is heat sinks, and it still overheats to fuck.
post build: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=171&l=stock
firing more than 3 ER-LLs generates lods e heat (you need a .5 second delay to avoid it, so you can fire 3, then the other 3)
Plenty of modern mice have multiple settings, some of them will even let you configure what those dpi settings are, and what button to press to swap them. You don't need to get >>128864778
what he said, I'm pretty sure plenty of mice have settings like this when you install the drivers. I however only have experience with Logitech.
I am firing in sets of 2, in order to mitigate the heating issue, but even that's not good enough because sustained fire (for example, to suppress an enemy mech from peeking) is insanely hot.
looks like you don't need clan active probe, or that much rear armor(unless you are constantly getting rear cored), you could maybe drop those two for another heat sink or two, might help
Cataphracts are total shit. Awful hitboxes and awful lowslung hardpoints.
Elmo can run double goose + lasers or 3uac5 + lasers with some small amount of effectiveness because the goose lets you hit at range and hide quickly, and the uacs let you hit at range and typically force people to back away into cover instead of shoot back.
Doesn't change that it's basically a ballistic awesome without awesome tier quirks.
I put the probe there because I'm left with a single slot, and weight isn't maxed out yet.
As for armor, yeah, I don't play CW's yet, so I'm getting fucked by teammates not watching the back all the time.
As far as even more heatsinks, I'll check it out.
Nigga I push front lines and hold forward positions, the fuck is your problem?
There's absolutely nothing that can go wrong with this glassback
I'm not sure how to deal with your condition, but I know most issues people have with aiming comes from bad settings, hardware, and habits.
>Lower your sensitivity.
I currently have 400 DPI on my mouse and the sensitivity in game turned down.
>Get a mousepad and a good mouse.
Find a mouse with a flawless sensor. (I have the EC2-A, I recommend it. EC1-A is the same mouse, but a larger shell.)
Doing this should allow you to aim using your arm instead of your wrist, that might help you out a bit.
As for bad habits, avoid trying to take shots that are difficult and try to set yourself up to not have to take those difficult shots.

jesus fucking christ solo queque during weekends is the essence of cancer
its like all the casual 'i play for fun XD' reddit retards come out of their holes and use MWO's soloqueque as their personal fucking toilet
8 losses in a fucking row
highest damage, last left alive, lose game anyway
there is just no stopping them dying like flies one after the other
you know what, fuck this shit.
a shitty cicada and two shitty ass colors aint worth this shit
the pig can slap these weekend cancer grind events up their fucking ass
and the retarded shit i saw between yesterday and today is fucking embarassing
these people are beyond uncarriable
i would prefer having the fucking bots that shoot you in the tutorial missions instead of these morons
at least the bots can aim
I was so spacepoor when I got the Stormcrow that I pulled the weapons off my Kit Fox and slapped em on the Stormcrow with extra ammo.
Upgraded the ERML to an LPL, though.
Wasn't much of a fight. He kept firing his MLs at that range and I burned him a new belly button. GGdonutbot.
Speaking of my ol' Shitfox...by the time this one ended, I was a one-legged waddler out of ammo and had to kill the fucking Catapult. With one ERML.
Of course, ERML vs. TAG and LRMS at 30m isn't saying much considering the first shot I got coming around corner legged him too. THAT was a gimp fight. Got a Zeus fair and square with the missiles and ERML, got the Hunchback down to a head laser before it ran away.
The Wolverine and Cicada decided it was better to sit on a blue square and not get rid of the red ones. Not that I could do much without a leg there.
I love Gauss Rifles.
I love the way they make a 'Mech go away with I barely tap their internal structure with my missiles.
Seriously, easiest KMDD's are anything you can side-torso wipe with a Gauss explosion.
hey as someone who stopped playing before the clan wave and now starting up again.
what changes did they do to the override button? I remember that it was a 10 second toggle that turned off if you didn't hit the heat limit.
and again this is not the only question I have to ask about.
Good news! literally the best lrm15 boat in the game!See >>128792368
Phracts are pretty outclassed by everything now due to their low hardpoints, like the Jag DD you have. But I really cant speak for them individually because I never liked the chasis to begin with. What did you like about them?
Hunchbacks are in an alright spot right now, they arent meta but they arent terrible. They got structure buffs to their hunch. Funnily enough, Hunchies have one of the better lrm boats too, not any of yours mind you.
Oddly enough, the Cat-2X isn't a shitty lurmer. You can fire the missiles reaching around corners and the low tube count converts twin LRM 15's into 10-10-10 launches instead, which hit in tighter patterns. You can also get the arm up when firing to clear vertical cover somewhat as well.
funny story, when I bought the 8R I thought I got a lemon as I had no clue how to do loadouts
(playing Stock loadout)2 days into playing open beta.
is there a thing of C-bill death spiral?
Smae guy with the DWF build. How do you guys avoid team-damage?
I find myself time and time again shooting at a Catapult, Atlas, or another DireWolf, and then have idiots run into my lasers. Is there a way to stop the lasers from firing when this happens, or am I stuck with idiots who don't know not to run into very visible beams of light?
>C-bill death spiral
Grinding for mechs and modules if I take your meaning. If you want to do CW you will need 4 radar deprivations which run 6 million each. Then of course you will want to buy new mechs so you will need to grind up for them and do their skills/equipment. Do all of the CW factions to get get like 10 free mechbays by hitting rank 2. Other than that, you should be alright.
Idiots. Fuck em right in the boypussy.
You can only try to throw your aim of when that happens. And it's gonna happen, faggot pugs love to run infront of direwolfs for some suicidal, win-hating reason. You can't immagine how many times some fag in a medium runs infront of my 2x uac10, 3x uac5 dakkawolf mid fucking volley to get his back ripped open.
This is the most engaging game since sliced bread tbqh. I really wonder why it's not as popular as such games like CS:GO or something. It's so good.
I can imagine. The whole reason why I brought this up is because I literally just killed 3 faggots like that. In a row. Fucking lights don't know their place.
Double heatsinks will always be a necessary 1.5mil for IS mechs. They come standard for clans.
Armor/structure costs are a few games earning a piece if you need to add/remove ferro, endo is pretty mandatory.
Plan your loadouts on smurfy so you dont buy dumb shit.
Clans have only one engine/internals to worry about, IS you can swap the engine around if its some fuck expensive thing like an xl295 for fireshitters.
>I really wonder why it's not as popular as such games like CS:GO or something
Because for the first 2 years of it being available to play it was fucking awful and it earned a bad reputation off the back of that.
It's worse when its lights that stay up your ass, when i round a corner, find a whole team and cant back up because some shitty light was hiding right behind me, you bet that little fuckwit gets a 24 srm alpha in the back. I try to keep the 100m rule in mind when following other mechs
tfw you will never give kong the full cowboy experience
>1-2 days of Premium time for grab bag event
>7 days for news shilling
I bet the newsletter sign-up is for telemetry. 2016 is another very important year for PGI's dying numbers.
Good clan buy for new-ish player? I've been looking over the heavies, but the Stormcrow keeps grabbing my attention. Streaks seem fun.
I trialed lights and they didn't really work for me, haven't touched assaults though.
Stormcrow is a great pick and the only clan medium worth it's weight.
When it comes to clan heavies you can't do much wrong, except buying a summoner.
Timber wolf, hellbringer and ebin jag are all top notch.
Why is Kong Davion?
Because all the people who care about the FWL have joined TRMP, because Donald Trump will make Marik great again!
Hello guys, started playing mechwarrior online today, just got my first 20mill and looking for a mech to buy now.
I enjoyed playing with LRMs while using the trial mechs, but reading on the forums it sounds like they are underpowered, is this true?
It is true. Unless the mech boats a lot of lrms and has significant missile quirks, it's not worth lrming. Awesome 8R or Hunchback 4J are both acceptable lrmboats, though the former will set you back quite a bit to outfit properly.
Furthermore, playing lrmboats will limit how quickly you learn fundamental mech skills.
But, whatever floats your boat.
LRMs are definitely tougher to do superwell with than laser/ballistics. But they're fun.
If you -do- make a lurmboat, FFS carry a decent amount of non-LRM weaponry to cover you. Think about most of your time being spent at 300-500m and work accordingly.
And remember whatever you get, you're going to need 3 different chassis of the same model (for example, 3 Ravens, or 3 Stormcrows, etc.) to master any of them fully. IS 'Mechs almost always are more expensive than the base cost because you'll need to soup them up more (Double sinks are a requirement, may need a better engine, etc. etc.).
Before you buy, build.
Then post the build here and let people have a look BEFORE you buy it in-game. It's easy to piss away your starting money on mistakes otherwise.
Once you've played enough and have all your modules unlocked, you might as well use your general XP to basic out the occasional mech variant you don't really want to equip or play if they're expensive to equip properly or that is a particularly shitty or unfun variant.
LRMs will not last you the whole game and as you progress and play with and against increasingly good people, your impact will become less and less consistent. This goes double if you make a pure boat with no lasers or anything. You will eventually find that you lose every single game where brawling happens and this is because you are not in the front lines able to take aggro or damage, thus allowing the enemy team to target your allies down better. You'll always be last to die and always do a fair amount of damage, but it'll be insignificant because your defensive usefulness will be literally zero. You will also find that, as you go up the tiers, people will start to have radar deprivation, which will shit on you, and when I say people, I mean literally everybody in the game - probably including you, one day. Furthermore, 1/3 maps are just legitimately shit for LRMs as it is.
If you absolutely MUST take LRMs, take like one or two, but boating them is a waste of money, especially if it's your starting cash.
tl;dr: LRMs are shit.
Now somebody will post them getting 1k damage in a boat, don't believe their lies.
yo build this trust me bro it's sick bro they say it's gonna get nerfed but it'll still be good bro i swear
Also, it's on sale so it'll be cheap af.
LRM Atlases generally make me want to teamkill.
This guy, however was "worst LRMer ever".
>climbs a mountain
>only fires his super-power LRM5's at everything
>Has CERPPC and LPL on chainfire but misses with those, so no big deal anyway
>team manages to win regardless thanks to superior ACH spam
>actually runs out of LRM ammo with dual 5's
After playing this reward Cicada with 6 MLs and feeling pretty competent in it, are there any other mechs I should know of that have a similar playstyle? I can't seem to get a handle on ballistic weapons, and lasers seem to be quite nice.
Nah. I'll just post my last game in Bog.
Jenners, Firestarters, Arctic Cheetahs qualify for that "fast, lasery" feel, as a 35 tonner actually gets better power to weight than a 40 tonner does as the speeds you want. Wolfhounds too.
I'll admit I was just shit posting but I did bad it on actual experience.
>conquest game on frozen city
>constantly barking commands in voip
>where the fuck is this atlas?
>we're getting slaughtered out here
>spot him at the spawn point
>wtf? This is conquest dude
>I die with rest of team
>atlas boat says well you guys didn't want to listen directions
>hit spectate and he's all lrms and one ml
>hit quit match in disgust
I played the Jenner trial mech a couple times but I felt like it ran a bit too hot. I've also got ACH-Prime and do alright in it, but there's just something about it that I can't play right. The Wolfhound looks interesting with the center mounts though so I'll look at that, thanks.
>because you are not in the front lines able to take aggro or damage
If you're not at risk of being shot and drawing some fire, you're too far away to be LRMing anyway.
Even in the shittiest LRM maps, you can adjust. Mining is horrible if you're facing into the same angle as everyone else, but you learn to take single shots rather than multiples on the same lock, run the sides and get behind rather than trying to engage on the same angle as everyone else so your missiles actually have a clear line to targets trying to hide from your team.
That's part of why mobility matters. A fat slow assault is stuck dealing with the worst maps from the worst position where a medium or faster heavy can work their way around to better firing positions.
This game on Mining, I actually ended up in the enemy staging area and just assraped 'Mech after 'Mech. They kept thinking it was fire from the front and boom-boom-boom dead Gundams everywhere.
Is anyone besides dudebot playing robots?
They actually had a mass disconnect from all servers.
One second I'm on Forest, the next I'm back to the start screen and my 'Mech is unlocked like the match never happened. Methinks the servers may be overheating a mite due to having so many people on.
This webm just makes me wish we had a close combat system so that hand actuators were actually useful.
You're paying for the superior XL Engine, equipment in it, improved Gyros, Omni-tech and such.
Hell buying an IS mech and replacing the engine and internals can easily run you as much if not more than a Clan mech.
Melee would immediately balance the game since most IS mechs have hands and things to grapple clan mechs with, while they usually don't have anything to defend themselves up close. Basically go down to "if the IS mech catches you you're fucked."
The Atlas would become rape incarnate again.
>ac20 + quad asrm6 alpha
>proceed to rip and tear while alphaing some more
It would be absolutely glorious.
>never gonna happen
>PGI adds melee
>running around in atlas
>it just triggers a horribly animated punch and deactivates all your other weapons while the animation is happening
>punch is just a super short range invisible projectile that comes out of your fist and does 10 damage
Sounds about right.
>you will never punch robots while in a robot
>tfw you are too tall and your punches whiff over every other Mech
>playing my AC/40 KGC
>walk up to enemy mech
>it locks both my mech and the enemy mech in place
>plays a cinematic cutscene where my left claw grips onto the enemy mech's cockpit, then fires the AC/20 point blank causing the entire cockpit segment to explode violently
>the enemy mech dies and falls to the ground, KGC is unlocked and returns me to cockpit view
Melee "combat" when?
No. King Krabs Klaws were not designed or meant for grabbing shit. They are just there to protect the guns and look menacing. They would just break off trying to grab anything if we go by "lore" stuff.
>hit zoom key
>zoom activates 1-2seconds after I push key
Paul I. is still an idiot.
There's just less left for him to break, because he's too dumb to really find more to destroy. His last bout of genius had people foaming at the mouth on Test so bad they scrapped the entire build.
Massacres happen. What amazes me is the guy who did 700+ damage and killed nothing whatsoever....and nobody else on his team did either.
What's saddest is that all they'd have to do is code melee like TF2. It's a very, very short range "shot".
Of course, they'd also have to be able to code things like cutting out arm control temporarily while you swing your fists (or smash your handless arm) into someone.
Paul would be forced into catatonia trying to comprehend that and hitting "punch" would end up smashing ourselves in the cockpit or something, followed by removing the option.
Y'know, like collisions.
