So I'm just entering high rank in mh4u, my first hunter game, and I've decided I am familiar enough to know I love the series. Now I can't decide if I want to follow all the way through 4u or go straight to X. X seems to be more stylish with cooler armors, which I love, but I can't tell if it'll have longevity.

How active is mh4u's online right now? Would you suggest switching to X or continuing on through 4?

So what should I be doing for these Resource Point quests?
Is there actually specific shit I should go for or is it just mining and gathering until I have enough?

the skill handicraft/sharpness +1 is really good, but also really hard to get until the end game. the narga weapons are the best weapons you can get if you don't have S+1. (once you have s+1, other weapons will be better than narga, but don't worry about that til later)

start the narga weapons in high rank, and ride them all the way to the end

i really enjoy mhx and its styles, as well as the maps from the older games they could have added some more though, but mh4u is far more optimised in comparison
4U does struggle with maintaining a sane framerate while online, yes, but X is like that all the time and drops frames and stutters both online and offline
the locked 30FPS cap doesn't help it, either

i was hoping that the ability to entirely disable the 3D would help things, but it does absolutely fuck all for X
i don't even know why they bothered adding it if it does nothing but disable AA, without any performance gain or anything

Bushido is the go to style for CB in X. It has just guard, from which you can go into shield thrust. And it also has a new gp at the start of the A attack. So when you want to guard, hit A, not X+R, this way you won't get stuck in axe mode. And even if you do, you have bushidodge as well.

Okay, to be specific, Gateway was the problem. Nintendo experimented with detecting how .3ds files all had the same header and banned some folks, but then backpeddaled, unbanning them. I'm a fan of chameleos bow. It's like a weaker seregios bow except it gets a level 4 charge (3 and 4 are rapid) and it also gets paralysis and poison coatings and 3 slots I believe. It really benefits from power shot because you can still just charge it up to level 3 and get a level 3 shot then a level 4 on top of it instead of two level threes. I like it in group hunts especially.

Telling him to 'shoot when it's safe' isn't bad advice, but if he's missing out on making the most of openings (through bigger/faster shots or something, I've never played HBG. Siege mode?) because he doesn't know the intricacies of the weapon, he'll take ages with it.
For example, going by memory, I don't think the fact you can charge CB's shield was explained very well ingame, but doing that boosts your attack and defense.
