Anybody else liking this more than the original? I didn't care for the story of the original at all, and while X's is no better it's far less intrusive. I also greatly prefer the open structure over the original's more linear one. I've been having a blast just exploring and placing probes in areas I probably shouldn't be yet, sneaking my way past enemies that could easily one-shot my whole crew. It's a rush.

I've managed to get some workable overdrive spam with sniper and gatling gun. Sniper requires Ghost Sniper and high critical chance like you can get with CQC Master, and Gatling Gun requires maximum cool off, and both work better when you have some way to get up to that initial 1000 TP which I got through a combination of Yamato Spirit, TP increasing arts and an Arts: TP gain mod.

i'm a self-admitted nintendrone and also the type of guy to always say "who cares what the game looks like as long as it's fun to play and engaging," but i gotta say the texture loading, especially in NLA, is pretty ridiculous. i'll be standing in front of a skell for a full 5 seconds before any of the textures load (even though i have all the preload shit + physical game)

often i'll be sitting there talking to an NPC and their model won't appear until halfway through the conversation

then of course there's the whole "shit i'm getting reamed better jump off this cliff to safety - oh what's that i thought i was safe but then 5 lv.60 indigens popped in once i landed"

the game is fantastic, but i've never before felt so aware of the wii u's shortcomings

So I'm fairly new, currently on Chapter 5.
Been getting a load of Blade Badges and Tickets. Currently a Rank 3 Duelist at level 19.

What do I do with the tickets/badges?
Where can I buy more probes?
Finally, what's the best way to deal damage? Duelist feels a little weak, especially the assault rifle arts like Flame Grenade (Assault Hammer is great though.) I have an aversion to using TP arts since the retarded AI always dies and I have to revive them, but I do keep Offensive stance up. Is there a better build for maximum damage?

You don't buy probes, you get them as quest rewards or from salvage/treasure around the world.

Tickets are ways to buy monster parts, mostly if you're too lazy to farm for the parts themselves (most people have to farm for tickets though). You get tickets by helping your squad finish tasks when they're available or by doing actual multiplayer stuff. I think.

I can't stop laughing at Irina. She's so melodramatic about everything. The real bullshit is the next phase draining all fuel from your skells instantly, forcing you to fight on foot for the first time in like 30 hours

looking back now after my first mess with the Vita. Getting warnings that the final boss would drain my fuel I had no idea that Lao was up ahead. So I fought that asshole on foot for both phases.

It felt more like a boss fight and really enjoyed the final chapter. It feels weird to see people use skells the entire time and especially against Lao

Inferno and mastema have pretty much the same overdrive, right? I just found a recipe for a lv 50 thermal sniper rifle in cauldros and im 5 levels away from getting the next set of skells available. Mastema has higher base range stats but it aint much.

REMINDER:

If you do not like using longsword but want to shit out tons of damage you don't have to use longsword

Longsword still does THE ABSOLUTE MOST overall of the melee weapons but the thing you really need is dual guns, a lot of potential, and a hard-hitting TP skill on the melee weapon, as well as a reliable way of building TP

This can be done with ANY melee weapon, as far as I know. Knife is a little trickier in my opinion however.

Mastema has access to heavy armor though, and those often have better traits on them. The heavy armor set Amdusias comes with has thermal damage up on it, and you can buy that set too.

Weather gets stuck if you save and quit. You can fix it by changing the time at a base camp. Weather locking can be useful for the uncommon weather types and rare tyrants though. When the weather is locked it won't change even if you fast travel. Like you can go to Noctilium and save and quit during Dense Fog weather, which allows you to grind Elena the Infernal without losing the weather when you hit return to skell.

Galactic Knight is good but TP gain is an issue without augs, and Enforcer is 10 ranks of ass damage.

Whoever is at the top of the active party menu is the char you control, which means you don't even need to play Enforcer to level it.
Dual Guns works well with just about any melee build since it has fast TP gain arts and Ghostwalker.
